Welcome W.U. Glad you are here. Can already tell you are a great addition. I came here from the old stlsportsforum, that had some very good guys and one who hated TLR that ruined it for me. Fan only since 1996, so I’m a newbie.
I will try to be your plucky comic relief, like Guy Fleegman in Galaxy Quest.
The activity on game threads is directly proportional to the quality of our relief pitching, I find. It is just too depressing to see certain pitchers rolled out there, and I tend to hide under a rock. I’ve told my wife four times that baseball season ended early. Glad I was wrong.
So cal, LA, and Willie. Why don’t you move on instead of piling on? There’s a difference between calling out a player and a TCN “group” calling out another poster. Time to give the poster bashing a rest.
This is hilarious. This is my first post on the subject of your constant carping on Bader’s hair in well over a year. And typical of bullies, (which you may or may not be), they throw a fit when they are called out for their wrong behavior. We have been enduring this for years! Do I need to dredge up Brian’s posts to you on this subject? It is tiring! Stop talking about Bader, and his hair, and his future haircut, and his ‘antics’ you don’t like. Stop speculating on whether the Yankees fans will appreciate it or not. Stop with the phony ‘wishing him well’. Good grief.
Calling out a player (Bader) as some have done regularly, is ridiculous. It’s been going on here for years. Forum members that ridicule the players or coaches is the main reason I am here less. Why anyone would think it is appropriate, just because it is a “tradition”, is beyond me, in this world that’s needs improvement, not tradition. I can’t stand bullies. I can’t stand those that aren’t bullies, but exhibit bullying behavior and won’t own up to it.
And the worst of it: the carping about Bader’s hair still continues, along with left-handed compliments about his style etc.
A good rule of thumb: if someone wouldn’t make the comment in front of that person (Bader, Pham, LaRussa, whoever), don’t make it here.
And FWIW the 90th place for OPS so far this year is at .739, occupied by our friends Randy Arozarena and Luke Voit. Three per team is of course average.
The Cardinals have only qualified two players above .739, but if we expand it to 200 ABs, we have five, same as Padres and Dodgers, one less than the Yankees.

Very true. But anecdotally, they pitched hurt more, with a weaker union, no social media, very little say. Used and discarded. Nowadays they retire when their fastball drops below 87. Before, they quit when the agony was too great.

I am so done with McFarland, no offense to him and his loved ones. The whole point of keeping a few cheap (sunk cost, value 0) relievers is to eat innings when we are losing badly. This whole concept doesn’t work if they can’t get outs!
