After reading a bit on George Greer and Mark Budaska, and (one of them?) their expertise on body mechanics, I wonder if they could help J Martinez? I know he’s working with Oquendo, but his body is just too tall for standard instruction. But if our new coaches can help his mechanics, I wonder if he could become an average defender? That would be like getting a $15-20m player on the cheap.
I’m struggling with the concept of “moving on”, as it is being used in this thread. Could some of the collaborators on this amazing testimony to Matheny explain its usage? To an uninitiated person such as myself, it seems only to be an ineffectual rehashing – almost a sardonic meta-criticism of Matheny’s own last few years. I’m sure there is a deeper meaning, which if I only knew, would benefit me and others.
Would you please consider changing the home page green text headline font to white? (It is white in landscape, green in portrait). Very hard on the eyes for people like me that are red/green colorblind. Thanks.
FrankIf you don’t recover the 2nd, I’ll just say the ump missed a Wacha strike right down the pipes, on a day that the 36 degree weather makes it harder the get your normal grip. Matheny missed a perfect opportunity to get thrown out.
To me, this is good. Overpaid by perhaps $4m without considering the options, but have an option on his first two years of free agency at a great price, less than 1.5 WAR/year.
If we wait too long, we can’t buy out the free agency years with most good players/agents.

If you torture the stats you can make them confess to anything. In this case FanGraphs has us leading the division in expected wins (note: using their Season-to-date stats mode)
This might not be realistic because it gives a huge weighting to our recent streak, but much more reasonable than their default mode which has the Cubs winning 60% of their remaining games.
I just got a free account so that I can continue lurking and reading the open forum. I might suggest that until you fix the bug, is there a way to notify non-registered viewers that there is a bug being worked on, on a lead banner or non-forum page? It was somewhat frustrating. Thanks and keep up the good work.
