August 31, 2022 at 10:22 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 131 thread – Wednesday, August 31 at Reds #198581Looking promising. 5-2 after the sac fly, BB, and Noot’s blast.
Not bad for an 0 for 17 RISP night.

You don’t need a 4th SP until the championship series. With the WC round being best of 3 (3 straight days) and the Division Series being best of 5 (2-2-1 format)
I don’t understand your math. Without short rest, the Division Series game 1 or 2 starter can only pitch game 5. Game 4 has to be pitched by the #4 starter.

Hader: 12 hits , and 7 walks in 4.2 innings. Watch it and cringe.
ZTR I agree. But as the 3rd seed we get the worst of Phillies/Padres/Brewers, at home. And Hader seems cooked. 23 era as a Padre with a 4.0 whip. Plus Padres have a very tough schedule (.573). They could be odd man out.
I think our pace is about 95.
Fangraphs
As long as one switches to “season to date“ as the projection method (near the top). The problem with the default method is two-fold. 1) calculating strength of schedule from their initial projections 2) not updating team projections for injuries, trades, etc.August 25, 2022 at 8:15 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 126 thread – Friday, August 26 vs. Braves #197692Arenado is not yet on paternity leave but could be added. August 25, 2022 at 8:13 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 126 thread – Friday, August 26 vs. Braves #197691Helsley:
Helsley missed the previous week to be with his wife and newborn in Oklahoma. The couple’s first child, a daughter, had to undergo some tests and Helsley requested the time to be with his wife until the results of those tests were known.
The tests were ‘good result’.

August 24, 2022 at 11:41 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 124 thread – Wednesday, August 24 at Cubs #197417On Helsley: I join others’ concern for the family. We don’t know. Mrs H might have had a C section.
When they conceived back last Fall, Helsley was just a lowly middle inning pitcher. One save in three SVO the entire year. Hardly someone that has to use methods to have their baby in the off season. Maybe they’ve been trying for years and cant afford to get cute.
I personally think it’s unfair to lump him in with Molina as some have on Twitter. But even there, see Bernie’s piece for some good thoughts.
Finally, it is somewhat stigmatizing to be placed on a ‘restricted list’, the same thing that happens to a miscreant. But that’s just the labor rules, no pun intended.
August 24, 2022 at 10:12 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 124 thread – Wednesday, August 24 at Cubs #197402Another thought: every left handed pitcher he faces is one less time he’ll be tempted to use him against righties.
Please note, again you express an ad hominem against me (“brave”) while I am trying to help you see your hypocrisy.
And that I’ve joined a flesh pile. But if only one person complains against you, you object and want the leaders to admonish him. But if two others agree with him, it’s a flesh pile. This is a challenge.
But ending on a good note, I respect your regret and hope to move on. Thanks.
big mouth” and calling him a ‘bully” goes directly against your posting rules
You seem very much like a bully. If I had to take a stand, then yes you are a bully. You need help.
Several members have tried to help you.
You called Willie out with a personal ad hominem, saying to him “ But it’s not a “win it all or I won’t enjoy it” attitude. That’s too much of an immature stance.” You told him his stance was immature, simply because you disagree with him.
That’s what bullies do.
Then two hours later you admonished him with “ Willie – a mark or maturity is to treat people with respect. Attack a post but not a poster. Learn from that”.
When LACardFan pointed out your hypocrisy to you, that would have been a great time for introspection and apology. But no, you doubled down an appealed to Brian. We already know where he stands on your antics.
Willie doesn’t need my help to defend himself. But your behavior and words affect many other forum members.

August 11, 2022 at 9:49 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 110 thread – Wednesday, August 10 at Rockies #195032Can anyone say who Ollie had getting loose at the end?
I’ve been wishing to know as well. Pretty sure it wasn’t on the broadcast. He works fast.
After the first 12 pitches, 10 were strikes, he’d faced 6 batters, yielded 5 hits and three runs, and his 13th pitch could have produced a 9-8 ballgame.
Was anyone up? How could Marmol take that chance after Quintana had already lost his previous win?
There needs to be a signal for “fake an injury, right now.”
August 10, 2022 at 11:14 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 110 thread – Wednesday, August 10 at Rockies #194995One batter too many, at least in Colorado. Allowing Stratton to risk a 9-8 ballgame after giving up 11 hits in his last 2.0 innings is not a good strategy.
