1:15 p.m.
RHP Adam Wainwright (8-8, 3.11) vs. RHP Frankie Montas (4-9, 3.18)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
Also BSSO and BSSW+August 3, 2022 at 7:44 pm #193905Somewhat surprised that this is not the ESPN Sunday Night game.
August 3, 2022 at 7:53 pm #193907It is Dodgers and Padres.

ParticipantThat’s what happens when you get soto, you get bigger games.

It didn’t work for Washington, Willie. But yeah, look at that S.D. lineup when Tatis Jr. arrives in a couple weeks. That Yankees “Murderer’s Row” squad from the roaring 20’s is now going to have to be called “Murderer’s Row Lite” after baseball gets a taste of the Padres 2022 version.

ParticipantWell Washington didn’t continue to win. You still have to win more than you lose. Plus the padres like you say have other stars. Soto is big news at the moment so ESPN is going to take advantage of that.
August 4, 2022 at 9:30 am #193956The team the Padres will be playing isn’t chopped liver either. Those two are starting to develop a nice little rivalry.
August 4, 2022 at 9:34 am #193959The big difference, IMO, is that LA has built a consistent winning tradition. SD is trying to reach and then stay at that level.
August 6, 2022 at 10:10 pm #194336We are going for the sweep of the Yankees tomorrow with Wainwright on the mound.
August 7, 2022 at 4:17 am #194342Gosh it feels nice all alone up here in first place. Why don’t we thump those Yankees one more time just for the heck of it?
August 7, 2022 at 5:01 am #194343Game time forecast 93, heat index 102 under full sun. They all need to stay hydrated but especially our senior citizen battery. We face a beatable starter so hopefully we pulled all of the pool noodles out of the bat rack, Waino has a good game, and no tootblans like Donovan’s last night. Sweeping the Pin Stripers out the door would be glorious.
August 7, 2022 at 7:35 am #194351So far the Yankees have played us pretty darn tough. So even though they have nothing in the win column to show for their efforts over these last 2 games, they still can hold their heads high. Even though they have but miniscule chances of victory today, if they can just make the game somewhat interesting……maybe hang with us until the 5th inning, it should do wonders for them psychologically as they prepare to predominantly take on divisional AL East rivals the rest of the way. Thus far N.Y. has averaged just 1.5 runs per game vs St. Louis here in 2022. If they can somehow someway put 3 runs on the board today to jack that runs per game average up to 2, that also could be a little feather in their caps.
August 7, 2022 at 9:40 am #194355Big win yesterday. Nice debut for the “new” Jordan. And Arenado was clutch on both offense and defense. As I always say, RBIs are the true “clutch” stat – doesn’t matter when you get them in a ball game, just get those runs in. An early RBI is the reason the “late and close” situations even come up.
Hard to visualize a sweep of the might Bombers, but it could happen. I too thought this would be the infamous Sunday night game, but saw that it is Dodgers-Padres which is equally “hot”.
August 7, 2022 at 11:00 am #1943581. Dylan Carlson (S) CF

ParticipantAgree GC.
August 7, 2022 at 11:27 am #1943621982 willie
ParticipantWell worked out for me and my son that we went to Fridays game. Pujols not in lineup yesterday or today.
August 7, 2022 at 11:28 am #194363
stlcard25ParticipantEdman had a great April but then became basically what he always has been…a decent average, low OBP guy (85 wRC+ from May 1 to today). Carlson had a lousy April and then became a decent average, decent OBP guy (121 wRC+ from May 1 to today). GC or NyQuisT, is there an objective reason why you’d want to move the better hitter down in the lineup? I’m genuinely curious.
August 7, 2022 at 11:53 am #194369Since stabilizing our rotation at the deadline we have gone 5-0 and are in first place. Meanwhile, Juan Soto and his new team have been clubbed by the Dodgers 16-4 the last two nights. Just saying.
August 7, 2022 at 12:10 pm #194374Soto is overrated as a pitcher. 😉
August 7, 2022 at 12:10 pm #194375
stlcard25ParticipantWell, the Cards could have traded for Soto too and possibly still gone 5-0 and be better set for October. I’m fine with the lack of move but it’s not a slam dunk good choice just yet.
August 7, 2022 at 12:15 pm #1943771982 willie
ParticipantWell the padres are playing the dodgers who are fully healthy hitting wise, we have faced the bad news cubs and the Yankees missing two of their best hitters. Still great but perspectivr
August 7, 2022 at 12:28 pm #194379Apparently last night’s attendance was the largest in the 16 year history of Busch Stadium III, over 48k. Mr. DeWitt has to like that.
August 7, 2022 at 12:33 pm #1943801982 willie
ParticipantI bet he did since they jacked up the cost of tickets for it
August 7, 2022 at 12:38 pm #194381Every one of the other 29 MLB teams wants the Yankees on their home schedule.
