Not to mention the founder of Deadspin
I hope Leitch eventually learned to use more than one source for stories that have careers and reputations on the line.
Fiesta vs siesta? Their hard-working day goes much longer into the evening, with a break in the middle. I’m not sure it’s still a business practice, but a cultural thing from the Spanish influence.
Starcast = meaningless
i disagree. There is a strong relationship (correlation) between the speed off the bat (exit velocity) and the likelihood of a batted ball becoming a base hit. If you want to see a graph and become a believer, I will find you one.
Secondly, hitting fast fastballs is a rare skill, a good one for a batter to have, associated with higher batting average.
April 6, 2019 at 12:02 am in reply to: Former Cardinals in the News – 2017 to Aug. 2024 (closed) #86081Lefty reliever Brett Cecil had surgery Monday to alleviate the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, and while he argued there’s no connection between the injury and his fondness for video game play he’s not taking any chances. Cecil said he’s stashed his game system and won’t play again until after he retires from baseball

This makes me sick. Putting this here in this thread out of hope that he’ll soon be a former Cardinal.I’ll give Bob rights since his posts are so awesome. But the ‘other’ original was episode 13 (3rd Season – Missouri Mish Mash Series 7 part 1) of The Rocky Show, where narrator William Conrad gives the title of the next episode (14), 1961/2.
Time stamp 4:11 near the very end. This is the ‘other first’!

Got to be Boris or Natasha, or Jay Ward if you prefer.

February 28, 2019 at 11:39 am in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #83049How about a secret protocol between Mo and Fowler where he agrees to waive his no-trade clause to ten teams, and in turn we agree to play/hype him till the end of August? He saves face and we save two years of his defense. This scenario assumes he isn’t phenomenal (2017) or horrible (2018).
If you are looking for an archive of the audio, you can still find it (now enhanced to be inning by inning) on MLB.com. I can only access it from my laptop PC. I’m pretty sure it uses JavaScript and thus is not available on the mlb at bat app for the iPhone.
I haven’t seen a breakdown of the bonuses anywhere else, so here goes:
fox midwestThe 30-year-old first baseman and outfielder would get $100,000 each in 2020 for 250, 300, 350 and 400 plate appearances, and $200,000 apiece for 450, 500 and 550.
Essentially, if you put his ‘true’ 2019 salary at $575k, he can max out 2020 at $3,675,000 at 550 PA. Seems pretty fair.
Yes I have mlb at bat, with the addition of mlb tv, which I watch on At Bat. But often I found last year that preseason games would be on cable tv and not picked up by MLB at bat, and I missed out. Worked fine in-season.
Will it be on the mlb at bat app? I paid $90 for the year (cards only). I can’t get fox Midwest and have no tv.
Exactly. It speaks more of his missing executive skills than it does of Martinez’ efforts.
According to Rosenthal, the White Sox offered more per year and opportunity to earn $50 MM more in two fewer years. Instead, Machado went for the guaranteed money. What do you think about that?
It’s pretty easy to prevent Manny from vesting the $70m 2year extension when you only have to keep him below 550 ABs for his last year. Just window dressing.

ArticleThe Yankee question has the wrong answer. Should be S. clemens.
Yes what a boost to his career. I’m happen for him and the team. 2.027 years of service. Can he be optioned for a week? While he’s down there feeling bad for a week, we could offer him a contract covering a few extra years. I guess he would still be a super-two but we’d get the extra year before free agency. He will be a star with 15 more DH’s.
I remember! Kicking myself for not adding ‘shared’ to my alliteration!
Thanks Brian.
We are in Minneapolis now for college. I hope we can drop down for a couple games in late May. I’ve been a couple times when it was in with the Bowling HOF so another visit is def in order!First stop: visit the shredded shirt shrine!
Frank.
Dibs tix please
Brian, obviously from his tweeted images of his texts with his source, Ives didn’t perform due diligence. But how do you protect yourself from email or text message spoofs, where the return address/number is spoofed? Is Easton really the perp? Or someone out to get Easton?
He had shoulder surgery very late for reasons that remain unclear.
iirc his doctor was tied up with a playoff team.

Matheny was weak, or at least mediocre, at the time of his firing. I was exceedingly pleased when he was hired, relieved when fired. A perfect time for Mo to play Dexter 100% of the time. If he catches fire (non-dumpster version) the sss can be pedaled to get rid of his contract at year end, blaming the old manager’s ways. I’m sure Bob’s #4 (Every win matters) didn’t apply then because Mo had given up at that point, with 2019-oriented trades to end July. By the time the Cards started their run in August, Dex was mooted by his foot. Had he instead played well in the last two months (a 2 sigma outcome?) we would be lauding Mo’s bold and lucky move, while watch Dex play for some other team in 2019. In 2019 I hope Dex plays well enough to be traded, or becomes a bench option. His defense will never merit playing time. Even Jose gives him a run for his money with OAA by team
Glad to enlighten you. We are discussing Will Smith with Oakland, according to two reporters. He is one member of the set of lefty relievers we might add.
Could someone please tell me how the lefties we might add range in quality compared to the newest Brewers acquisition Alex Claudio? Thanks!!
