There are too many problems on this ream for them to break out but they can stay close into September and who knows what could happen.
Is there a point to this?

It is biased and not bias but we can let that go.“you are a bias person doing bias things for self validation…yawn”
Have you looked in the mirror lately.
Jager:
Thanks for telling us how we should think and act. That scary good bullpen wasn’t so much tonight. Bowman and the scary good boys blew another one. We’d be in first place if the bullpen was any good.
But Hey…Go Cards!!

You make a good point but our homegrown guys are not that good. There are some decent players with talent (Bader, O’neill…maybe and some promising pitchers. However, we don’t have any superstars in the making. There is no Trout or Harper down there. So, if you combine decent talent but not great with inexpensive free agents you get a mediocre team that can only make a last ditch miracle run for the play in game and nothing more. The front office philosophy makes any thought of a WS trophy only a remote possibility. I just wish they would be more aggressive.
Miles is right. Kelly’s value is dropping as I write. He’s just another over rated prospect in the Cardinals system. The Cardinals need to be sellers at the deadline. Kelly, Wong, frying pan handsMartinez, potty mouth Pham, Fowler, Cecil, Gregorsen, Holland, Gyorko should all go. Some because they suck like Fowler and Cecil, some because they’re jerks like Pham and some because they could bring something in return. Martinez Gyorko and Pham are in that category. F you Tommy qualifies in two categories. Yay for F you Tommy. Bring up the kids and let them learn this year and next. Maybe in 2020 the Cardinals would be ready for a playoff run. They will never go all in during the off season and the only other workable alternative is to go for a youth movement. Blow it up and start over. If they continue to use band-aids and slugs every year we’ll never rise above mediocre.

There’s a decaf machine just down the hall.
No one is trying to bully you into posting or not posting.
I am amused by your verbose, rambling Polyannnic posts but I hope you keep it up.
There is a basic difference between you and me.
You think the owners do a good job and I think they suck.
The playoffs are not a realistic possibility for the Cardinals this year or in years to come. because of these owners.
You seem to believe that they do and will try to make the team appreciably better.
I do not.
We need a first baseman who can play first, a short stop who can play short, a closer and a “quality” bat. In your defense Machado would take care of two out of four in one fell swoop.
However at the deadline they will do nothing or get more slugs.
It’s what these owners do and they do it very well.
But keep dreaming by all means.

Your ideas for acquisitions are logical and would probably help. But they are things that other teams do and not the Cardinals. The Cardinals do not make BIG deals. Ozuna could be classified as a deal of significance but not a BIG deal and his performance so far has bee lacking. There is zero chance they sign Machado. They will get more second tier players like always. Another Leake, another Fowler, another Cecil another Moss etc. Mo buys penny stocks and hopes for a miracle. Save yourself disappointment and stop dreaming of some monster deal. There will be ho hum action or no action at the deadline. Remember last year?
They are not going to change their model of doing things. Every year it will be “hope” as a strategy to get in the playoffs. Maybe one of these years they’ll get back in or not. But if anyone thinks they are going to change their model and spend like crazy or make big trades…not going to happen. I long ago gave up on this Front Office pushing hard in the off-season. If you want that you’ll have to find another team.

Now that you mention it I guess I was too generous.
Wong, Weaver and Flaherty for Arenado. I just solved the 3rd base problem and added a great third place hitter. You’re welcome everyone.
April 17, 2018 at 12:07 pm in reply to: What is wrong with Carpenter and what should be done? #49169Carpenter tried hitting third last year and it didn’t work. Why did they think it would work this year? I don’t understand their reasoning.
Mudville:
Is it possible that they’re just not very good?
Brian: Thanks.
He’s clearly just mad at the word for all his problems.
I can tell you, Tommy, from experience…the world doesn’t care. Get over yourself and get ready to be traded.
Brian:
I have a question and I couldn’t find the right thread so I chose this one about pitchers.
IF Alex Reyes is on the 60 day DL does that mean he can’t appear in any games?
I’m confused because I thought he was getting ready to be up here in June.
I could have easily misunderstood so I need you to clariy things for me, please

It’s not the umpires fault.
If he doesn’t want to be pulled then he shouldn’t suck when he’s out there.
I appreciate your approach, Mudville. I’m quite the opposite. The WS is the only thing for me. If they don’t win the WS then the season is a waste. Just my position.
14myquist:
If this was the last week of ST I might be concerned.
You make sense but the simple fact is that the owners don’t have to pay inflated salaries if they don’t want to.
The only flaw in your argument is that the players think they can determine their compensation.
Maybe next year the players will lower their demands if they want to play.

Surely you knew that with Junior and the Juniorettes it has always been and always will be:
1.SAVING MONEY
2. Make a wild card if you can but if you can’t then no big deal. Draw 3.4 and count your money.Has Cecil been hurt and if not why is just now getting into a game?
How is it bad for baseball?
