12:00 – 3:15 p.m. Opening Day Pep Rally at Ballpark Village: Join Fredbird, Team Fredbird and DJ Todd Thomas at the Ballpark Village parking lot for the Cardinals Opening Day Pep Rally. This event is free for all fans to attend and will proceed rain or shine. Danny Cox, Kyle McClellan and the FOX Sports Midwest announcers will stop by with plenty of Cardinals prizes and even some Opening Day tickets to give away. Food and drinks will be available for purchase as well.

I’m really happy to see that Molina is crushing the ball so far this year. I like him where he’s hitting and hopefully he can give us some surplus value on his contract in this first year of the deal.
Last night we were kind of in a tough spot with guys that could be used out of the bullpen having burned so many the previous nights. I would assume everyone is available tonight.

Wainwright out after 3 2/3 innings with runners on the corners. Arizona up 3-0. Bowman came on in relief, and got out of the jam.
Bowman looked a lot like Wainwright, getting behind on a lot of counts. Strands two in the fifth with the Cards down 3-1.
Sherriff hit in the leg by a liner and left the game. Interesting that Leone was brought in a game with the Cards down by two in the top of the sixth. One runner on. He didn’t get Goldschmidt, his first batter, but secured a grounder from the next hitter to end T6th.
Did Mike Mayers get put into Cardinals purgatory? Geezus is he still on the team? Its awesome to see the Cardinals ‘waste’ a roster spot on a guy who they will never use in a game. This is exactly why having an 8-man bullpen is stupid.
The home opener ends with a thud as the offense is held to two hits by Robbie Ray and four Arizona relievers. The 3-1 loss drops St. Louis’ record to 3-4 on the season.
This rotation has got to have a sense of urgency. Waino isn’t any different then in previous seasons. He doesn’t have Verlander arm.
It’s time for a changing of the guard! Flaherty time is now!
That’s not the game you hope for on opening night at home. They did only give up 3 even though the pitching was very shaky. But the offense has to get better and more consistent and that has to happen quickly. Too many good hitters in the lineup to K 13 times against 2 hits. That’s ridiculous and unacceptable.
Its like the old Lefthand pitcher jinx that used to nail the Cards all the time except there are only 2 lefty batters in the lineup.Strange indeed.Cards made Robbie Ray look like Steve Carlton.
Ray is a very good pitcher, but then four relievers threw three perfect innings to finish the game. Each reliever collected one strikeout to increase the total from nine to 13.
Why is Wong in the doghouse? Not only did he not start he didn’t even pinch hit. He was passed over by Garcia. I don’t get it.
