And Pham decides to hit the go ahead HR in the 10th to get a word in on the discussion and his 12th game in a row with a hit
June 18, 2018 at 10:14 pm #57114So his HR is supposed to make up for the 3 Ks ?Especially the clutch K that if he had just made contact the Cards could have tied or taken the lead.Phammites making excuses.
June 18, 2018 at 10:42 pm #57118Tonight’s game hasn’t been added to BR yet, but in the previous 11 games, Pham had been hitting .289/.333/.356.
June 18, 2018 at 11:45 pm #57124Pham`s hit streak
50 AB
14 Hits
2 HR
2 RBI
11 runs
3 BB
12 Ks
softest hitting streak in baseball.
For season Pham is on pace to K 150 timesJune 19, 2018 at 10:31 am #57168you want to keep hating on Pham…go ahead…but a 12 game hitting streak is NEVER a bad thing…your argument is ridiculous…
– he has hit in 12 straight…positive (a hit just under very 4 ABs…positive)
– 1 HR every 25 ABs…600-650AB a year is about average i think…so that’s 25+ HR…positive
– 2 RBI (seems low…agreed)…but he had 23 RBI before that in 180ABs..so seems a little against his stats…25RBI in under 250AB so far is low…definitely on the weak side…but at 650ABs he is probably over 75RBI…not the worstby far…positive but you want a bit more from him after last year…though he is in the 2 spot…his job seems more about getting on and SCORING RUNS in front of Ozuna and JMart…last year he had to punch guys in… role change but still productive
– 11 RUNS…he is scoring a RUN for the team better than every 5 ABs….that’s a big deal…positive
– 3 walks…that;s a bit low…but only if he wasnt getting a hit in every game…14 hits plus 3 BB’s means he got on base 17 times out of 50 right? yeah…more walks woudl be better…but still very good in combination over the last 50ABs
– 12 Ks…id prefer less…but as long as he is getting on and scoring runs the other times then it is mitigated pretty easily… not a positive but in looking at this small slice it is acceptable
– 150 Ks?…and? he is ranked 51st (tied) with 65 for the year…Hosmer has 1 less, Stanton Judge are over 90 each…GOldy has 89….superman Trout has 60…woudl any player love to have less Ks…sure…and id love to see less…but he isnt out of line with other players when it comes to Ksso…weakest 12 game hit streak ever? whatever…
and a clutch HR to go ahead in extras is pretty clutch and YES can make up for 3 Ks in a a game
you have already made up your mind about Pham…we get it…and you will find any way to take anything positive about him and find a negative….
I dont like how he has fallen off after the 1st month, i worry about his vision, i dont think he will ever be last year’s version of him, i dont like his age to performance ratio and when we may have to pay him, i dont like how he may be blocking some younger kids who could be intriguing… i dont like his attitude, i dont like how he spoke out against the team and players in that article, i dont like how he plays defense…
BUT that doesnt make me feel the need to attack him when he is doing anything good just to maek me feel better for having whatever opinion i have of him
you are a bias person doing bias things for self validation…. yawn
June 19, 2018 at 10:44 am #57173
stlcard25ParticipantWasn’t it Yadi who had a hit streak last year or something that was like 1 single in every game for 13 games with almost no other times on base? Haha…that was a “bad” hit streak.
June 19, 2018 at 10:48 am #57175Jager:
It is biased and not bias but we can let that go.“you are a bias person doing bias things for self validation…yawn”
Have you looked in the mirror lately.
June 19, 2018 at 10:51 am #57176Jager-i see a soft hitting streak.That
s my opinion. You say i am bias because i dislike the player and feel his contribution is overrated.Thats your opinion.I disagree. So be it.I have stated my reasons why i dislike Pham.My opinion. My choice. You want to go sing "kumbaya' then thats your choice. Not mine.I tried to be decent and explain myself. Not going to bother trying to do that anymore.June 19, 2018 at 10:53 am #57177Jager-you are full of yourself.Get over your high and mighty BS.
June 19, 2018 at 11:08 am #57179
stlcard25ParticipantWRC+ the last 30 days (season so far)..
Ozuna 208 (112)
Carpenter 161 (114)
Martinez 151 (144)
Garcia 131 (104)
Yadi 118 (106)
Muñoz 99 (80)
Bader 75 (97)
Fowler 54 (60)
Wong 53 (64)
Gyorko 45 (96)
Pham 44 (120)
Pena -17 (41)
Kelly -55 (-34)So we can see who has been struggling of late. No doubt that Tommy hasn’t been as good lately but I still believe he has positive value coming. The RF spot is a black hole right now and 2B is also bad. Catcher is so much better with Yadi back. I believe Garcia needs a few more starts at SS or 2B to see if he can get the OBP of the lineup to come up a bit.
June 19, 2018 at 12:05 pm #57184I wonder about Garcia starting. He is so valuable coming off the bench as our best bench bat you would lose that opion staring him.The bench would be damn near useless then.A trade off on hoping GGarcia starting can produce enough to not need a bench bat.Damned if you do and damned if you don`t.This team really needs DeJong back.Plugging DeJong in at SS then allows Munoz to move to 2B and Gyorko can stay at 3B.Carp/JMart 1B.Munoz struck out in 12 of his first 18 ABs so he has really cut his K rate.He is proving to be a very good player and i think Schrock will prove to be a solid backup/spot starter because he is a good contact guy to fill a role maybe he gets a shot in September if he gets added to 40-man.
June 19, 2018 at 7:59 pm #57265There’s lots of talk on here about what the Cardinals have if everything goes right.
I count seven major league teams that, if everything goes right, could win 100 games. Not all at the same time, of course.
The Cardinals aren’t one of them. If everything goes right for the Cardinals they can win 90 games. But there are probably ten or eleven or twelve teams that are better than the Cardinals now. And it isn’t because everything is going right for them. Face it, the only potential All Stars we have are starting pitchers.
I think the Cardinals should be sellers, but the fans probably won’t like that, either. Our fans are getting like Philadelphia’s.
June 19, 2018 at 10:02 pm #5730913 games now with 2 hits an rbi on a HR and 2 more runs. And a strikeout
You said his hit streak was weak. I walked through how it wasn’t and backed it up with explanation and numbers. You then say it’s your opinion and back it up with? What?
And as predicted a so calle depersonalize jab by saying kumbaya as if that is insulting for some reason. And even if it was it isn’t even accurate as I have stated my displeasure with him on several fronts repeatedly but since that doesn’t help you attach me then it’s hard to come up with an insult.
I said there is. I such thing as 12 game hit streak as being a bad thing. You the attack that as if it was weak. Even posting numbers that would seemingly be proof of your weakness. I then counter that with those numbers explained as not being very weak in all aspects. Not most even.
I refer to your being bias against Pham as clouding your opinion of his current play because his current play isn’t reflective of your disdain about his play. You can not like him all you want. I am not his biggest fan either. As I stated multiple times I have problems with all sorts of things about him. But his play at the moment isn’t one of them. He was awesome to start the year then really struggled and is coming back around.
I don’t see how Ian being all high and mighty by being bale to look PAST my personal bias to comment on a player accurately even if it doesn’t fit my bias
I will sing kumbaya all day long with a smile on my face if that is an indicator of commenting fairly on a player or situation despite my option of the player or situation.
Kumbaya or “come by hear” is a song sang often around the campfire among friends and family that appeals to God to come and help those in need. Seems like an appropriate song for a forum of fans of a team that is struggling and in need of some help. And I’m not even religious.
It’s dfinitely not an insult to sing that song or be accused of singing it.
If you want people to be reasonable and respectful with you then be reasonable and respectful to them. But if you lash out then expect it directed right back at you
Unfortunately I expect around here that support for the team and players and even just simple patience is somehow seen as an attack and is for some reasons=deserving insults so I expect my simple calls for respect and fairness to be challenge with nastiness so before you try to call me out for not doing the same thing, I already have
Sorry if my optimism and fairness insults you so much. But I won’t stop being supportive and fair to the players and Organization just to make you happy about your hatred for Pham
June 19, 2018 at 10:08 pm #57312Pham`s 13 game hit streak

.291/.328/.455/.782June 20, 2018 at 10:34 am #57358Jager-there you go accusing me of hatred for Pham.hatred is too strong a word to describe my dislike for him.I simpl don
t like his actions towards the team and his refusal to man up for his mistakes and his poor pitiful "i was screwed over routine' doesnt fly with me.i never said i hated him..i simply cant stand him.I feel he was a flash in the pan last year and is nothing more than a average player at best.If that is so offensive to you and upsets your view then we simply agree to disagree.I have been a fan for over 50 years and i root for the Cards everyday. There have been some jackleg players who i detested wearing the Cards uniform but i always rooted for the team.Pham is one of those player i cant stand. That is the way it is.June 20, 2018 at 10:43 am #57359teams won-loss record the last 13 games

Small sample size? 52 PAs. Mike Trout batting average after 62 PAs this season was .235. I don’t think you would call him someone you want to trade from your team.
June 20, 2018 at 9:05 pm #57459Trout hasn
t run his mouth about being mistreated or held back.Trout has and is a Superstar player who can do everything .Trout has been a star from his 1st year in the MAJORS.Trout didnt play in the minors for 10 years.Trout didn`t refuse to man up about screwing up.You say small sample size…well he has just about as many chances as the other Cards regulars in RISP and he ranks 6th .Ahead of Carpenter Wong and Fowler.June 20, 2018 at 9:38 pm #57460Forsch-Phams 48 AB with RISP is 3rd most on the team.
Ozuna 22 for 72
JMartinez 22 for 67
Pham 11 for 48
Carpenter 9 for 44
Molina 11 for 39
DeJong 9 for 37

Gyorko 11 for 30
Munoz 5 for 24
Bader 2 for 18June 20, 2018 at 10:34 pm #57463I never said anything about what Pham has said. I also don’t like stars playing a game for a living bad mouthing the hand that feeds it. But he is VERY talented and did not have a career year last year. Just look at his AAA numbers and you can see that he is able to produce.
I notice you have avoided answering where you got the information that he is poor defender.
Career RISP: .265/.380/.479/.859
Career runners on base: .305/.400/.563/.963
Career overall: .279/.373/.484/.857I am not going to ignore his career numbers over only 46 ABs this year. Considering those career numbers include this year, obviously, he has performed.
Pham is VERY good. I only want to trade him if we can get a great SP, 3B, SS or 1B. He should be used to upgrade the team, not dumped just because I don’t like what he said.
As far as Pham playing in the minors for 10 years. If he hadn’t had a few years lost to injuries or his first few years of struggling until his eye issue was discovered, he would have reached the majors a few years earlier. He reached the majors at age 26 but had the talent to reach it at age 22 or 23. He wasn’t given a real chance to have a starting spot until last year. He earned it.
June 20, 2018 at 11:21 pm #57465Forsch-woulda coulda shoulda…don`t count for crap.Pham is average…nothing special. The WAR for this season is what 1.0 ?As for his defense how many crappy jumps on balls has he gotten this year?Your Phamblinders are showing. Not getting a real chance! Bullcrap.Phamfoolery at its best.Average player who vastly overperformed last season who the league has caught up to.
June 21, 2018 at 10:41 am #57514That’s what I expected. I love the fact you are trying to color my objectivity as having blinders. Cute.
The FACTS still remain the facts.

ParticipantPham isn’t even close to being our main OF problem right now. That rich guy in RF is.
June 21, 2018 at 11:21 am #57522Agreed.
