okay with the Contreras signing mostly…a year too long IMHO but you got to go with the flow.Still got prospects to make another move for SP or Bullpen or LH bat.I wanted Murphy instead but we have to trust that the FO felt the trade cost was too much.
I am a bit shocked Cards added Reyes to 40-man.Why? With his lengthy injury history the odds are poor that he will be able to contribute anything next season,Why not chance him going unclaimed and then work a out a minor -incentive deal with him?
I don’t see any real need to protect Thomas or Gomez. Thomas has never even pitched consistent at AAA level and who would keep someone like that on a MLB roster all except as a long man all year. As for Gomez 174 Ks in 442 ABS is a huge question mark. He is not a great defender and for a team that seems to be wanting more contact and less Ks then Gomez doesn’t seem to be the answer IMHO. I would take the chance and see if they got claimed.

Geez will the insanity ever stop? 9 million again?How is Knizner ever getting a real chance? Nothing wrong with having Molina back as a guy who catches 80 games .3 XBH in 2 months is weak.The only saving grace is his RISP so far.Defense is declining.
Who could have really predicted the total breakdown of the entire staff except Wainwright and Reyes.They knew Hudson was out .Mikolas had issues.No one expected Poncedeleon to completely bomb,Gant to forget how to find the strike zone,Kim to have issues,Flaherty to miss half the season,CMretinez to belly up and then get hurt.
Tyler Webb went from semi-effective to DFA.Fernandez flopped again Hicks down agswin,Helsley inconsistent,Whitley,Elledge ineffective,Woodford so-so.Andrew Miller..blah.Oviedo overmatched.
Just a perfect storm of injuries,mismanagement and ineffectiveness to sink this team.Cards RISP and RISP/2 outs WAR

So the nonsense about Arenado being a bust is just that IMHO.Could he be better..yes..couldn`t the whole team..yes.
Right now O`Neill is slumping and needs to move down a spot or two.The batting of Goldy 2nd is wasting him IMO. am wondering about a lineup like this.Bader CF

Still and will likely always be streaky TO.IMHO he should be hitting 5th..not 4th.Gutsy job by Wainwright.Good game by O`Neill .THe FO and MO must get at least 2 more solid pitchers for next season.No more BS about guys getting healthy etc.

pitcherGant had proved he could not be relied on because he couldn`t get the ball over the plate .Lane Thomas needs regular playing time and he was not getting it here.Happ and Lester ae not the moves many wanted but they should provide innings enough to keep the team in the games and ease some of the load on the bullpen.Gant and Oviedo lasted 5 innings rarely.
Forsch and Willie hit it exactly.Cards got 2 guys who the FO hopes can keep Cards head above water while youngsters develop and Flaherty/Mikolas rehab.Doubtful either Happ/Lester will be back next year .So Cards will lose Happ,Lester,CMartinez,Justin Miller,Andrew Miller,Luis Garcia, LeBlanc,Kim,Wainwright( unless he wants to return)

The thing that still is bothersome is that Carpenter is still not producing (I know it is Spring training) but ONE hit ? Brian saying Carp hitting into hard luck? IMHO Caprp is still around simply because of his contract……I wonder how long aq lesh he gets into the season.Maybe he will wake up and show some signs of life tis next several games….
