The #STLCards get starter J.A. Happ from the #Twins for reliever John Gant per Bob Nightengale.
July 30, 2021 at 2:20 pm #168229July 30, 2021 at 2:24 pm #168230A 39 year old guy with a 6.77 ERA, how perfect is that. 1.586 WHIP.
I guess they weren’t going to pay Gant what he’d get in arb money next year.
July 30, 2021 at 2:27 pm #168231Isn’t he like 90 and terrible….good grief
July 30, 2021 at 2:30 pm #168232So, you guys are underwhelmed?
July 30, 2021 at 2:35 pm #168233Maybe our returning starters aren’t as close as we thought.
July 30, 2021 at 2:37 pm #168234And we included Evan Sisk?? Maybe they included someone not announced yet
July 30, 2021 at 2:38 pm #168235I have to think it is scary to consider Gant pitching to lineups with DH rather than pitcher. 100 pitches by end of 4 innings.
July 30, 2021 at 2:41 pm #168236At least we don’t have to watch him walk anymore batters. But that’s the best they can do?
July 30, 2021 at 2:41 pm #168237I think the Cardinals got what they could get for Gant and just wanted to unload him.
July 30, 2021 at 2:41 pm #168238just tell me what is going on with this team? just plain sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 30, 2021 at 2:43 pm #168239I don’t know Mr. P., it is pretty clear we are doing something to cause pitchers to walk and hit unreal numbers of batters. He may be able to shake it off.
July 30, 2021 at 2:43 pm #168240hey cardinals i’m waiting for my phone to ring? i can start tomorrow.
July 30, 2021 at 2:43 pm #168241Jeff Jones mentioned a few days ago that Gant could be a trade candidate.
Happ is basically an older version of LeBLanc, except maybe not as good.
Evan Sisk is also going to the Twins.
July 30, 2021 at 2:45 pm #168242I would have looked to dump Gant, Bader, and Dejong, along with A Miller. Maybe they could have gotten some decent prospects. Some bullpen help. This year is wasted year anyway.
July 30, 2021 at 2:48 pm #168243Gant made $2.1M this year, his second arb year. Maybe they figure they can get middle relief cheaper.
July 30, 2021 at 2:51 pm #168244Dump Bader? Isn’t the way he is playing now exactly what we hoped for? I like his fire.
July 30, 2021 at 2:51 pm #168245right on. i can’t comment on this any more. this team use to have pride in winning. maybe 2030
July 30, 2021 at 2:55 pm #168247Bader is on a hot streak. He has done this before. Look how it always ends up. This was the chance to get something out of him. Not wait until the real Bader is back.
July 30, 2021 at 3:04 pm #168251Just goes to show you have stupid and incompetent Mo is at his job. The sooner this idiot is gone the better off the franchise is going to be!
Also saying to dump Bader is just a stupid idea.
July 30, 2021 at 3:04 pm #168252can the cubs win another title before the cardinals? a true fan from the 82 team. i see cubs before cardinals.
July 30, 2021 at 3:09 pm #168253I’ve been called stupid before. Was chased off a site when I said Alan Craig wasn’t proven. That I thought he would bomb. But thanks. I take it as a compliment.
July 30, 2021 at 3:10 pm #168254Now Lester. Jeez.
July 30, 2021 at 3:13 pm #168255Bader is a career 3.7 WAR/600 player. That is decidedly above average.
And the only reason he cooled off last year was Shildt benched him for two weeks in favor of a player who had an OPS .500 points less than Bader’s at the time he was benched. That will screw with anybody.
July 30, 2021 at 3:22 pm #168260He has had a stellar career. Career 3.7 war. I stand corrected
1000 at bats. .243 avg, 40 homers, 332 k’s, 110 walks. Good numbers for a speed guy.
