The #STLCards get starter J.A. Happ from the #Twins for reliever John Gant per Bob Nightengale.

A 39 year old guy with a 6.77 ERA, how perfect is that. 1.586 WHIP.

I guess they weren’t going to pay Gant what he’d get in arb money next year.

Maybe our returning starters aren’t as close as we thought.

I have to think it is scary to consider Gant pitching to lineups with DH rather than pitcher. 100 pitches by end of 4 innings.

At least we don’t have to watch him walk anymore batters. But that’s the best they can do?

I think the Cardinals got what they could get for Gant and just wanted to unload him.

I don’t know Mr. P., it is pretty clear we are doing something to cause pitchers to walk and hit unreal numbers of batters. He may be able to shake it off.

Jeff Jones mentioned a few days ago that Gant could be a trade candidate.

Happ is basically an older version of LeBLanc, except maybe not as good.

Evan Sisk is also going to the Twins.

I would have looked to dump Gant, Bader, and Dejong, along with A Miller. Maybe they could have gotten some decent prospects. Some bullpen help. This year is wasted year anyway.

Gant made $2.1M this year, his second arb year. Maybe they figure they can get middle relief cheaper.

Dump Bader? Isn’t the way he is playing now exactly what we hoped for? I like his fire.

Bader is on a hot streak. He has done this before. Look how it always ends up. This was the chance to get something out of him. Not wait until the real Bader is back.

Just goes to show you have stupid and incompetent Mo is at his job. The sooner this idiot is gone the better off the franchise is going to be!

Also saying to dump Bader is just a stupid idea.

I’ve been called stupid before. Was chased off a site when I said Alan Craig wasn’t proven. That I thought he would bomb. But thanks. I take it as a compliment.

Bader is a career 3.7 WAR/600 player. That is decidedly above average.

And the only reason he cooled off last year was Shildt benched him for two weeks in favor of a player who had an OPS .500 points less than Bader’s at the time he was benched. That will screw with anybody.

He has had a stellar career. Career 3.7 war. I stand corrected

    1000 at bats. .243 avg, 40 homers, 332 k’s, 110 walks. Good numbers for a speed guy.
