Strange game tonight but we won. Turns out there are pitchers hiding out in the pen that can really pitch too! Three of our spark plugs got no hits. Bases loaded with no outs and nobody scored? Got enough to win but good pitching won this one. I’ll take it. Go Cardinals!
August 7, 2021 at 9:51 pm #169263About to catch a break. For what it’s worth.
Giants tied it 2-2 with two outs in the 9th and now have taken a 5-2 lead in the top of the 10th at County Stadium against the Brewers.

August 7, 2021 at 10:09 pm #169264I guess I spoke/wrote too soon. The Brewers have now scored three runs in the last of the 10th on homeruns by Escobar and Adames.
Stay tuned………
August 7, 2021 at 10:23 pm #169266I like how Garcia has pitched in his last 5 games. I am torn on whether or not the Cardinals should try to sign him for 2022. Right now, his stats for the last 5 games look different than what he has done for the rest of his career.
August 7, 2021 at 10:40 pm #169268Relax everybody. The Giants plated four runs in the top of the 11th and took a 9-5 lead. They held on this time and won over the Brewers 9-6.
And the Dubois County Bombers won the Ohio Valley Wooden Bat League title tonight as well!

ParticipantYea sorry there bling, it was the place on Delmar. That whole street is pretty cool. I was googling good family places to eat and it was one of the choices. I love old fashioned sodas so I chose it. The floats are out of this world and the food was really great, had the bbq sample platter. It’s not cheap but nothing good ever is.

ParticipantNice win tonight but still tired of our big guys not coming through at big times.
August 8, 2021 at 4:22 am #169277Hey whaddya know, we’re a .500 ball club again riding a 2-game streak! All we’ve got to do is win 35-40 more and we’re smelling roses.
August 8, 2021 at 7:45 am #169284I am happy Carp yanked that liner off the right field wall, but I hope he was watching when fellow left swinger Nooty stroked one to left smooth as can be.
Once Carlson can do that regularly he will not have such a horrible platoon split. His future is limited so long as he hits .234 vs right hand pitching.
I have a nagging fear that any left swinger who stokes it to left with unimpressive exit velocity and shitty launch angle will not be around long, and any who tend that way in the minors get cured of it via optimizing their swing in the virtual reality hitting experience booth. We will find out whenever our hot prospect left swingers show up in the bigs.
August 8, 2021 at 7:50 am #169285O`Neill with his 8th 3 K game this season.
He also has( 6 ) 3 Hit games and( 1 ) 4 Hit game.
Still and will likely always be streaky TO.IMHO he should be hitting 5th..not 4th.August 8, 2021 at 7:51 am #169286Glad you had a good time willie. There is a good but pricey BBQ place along there, can’t remember the name. We used to eat there and then walk along popping into places for a drink as we went. I wonder if that trolley boondoggle is still running where you are supposed to leave your car in Forest Park and go back to get it after dark.

STL +0August 8, 2021 at 8:33 am #169288Why did Kim only go 4 innings?

jj-cf-stlParticipantFor me, he was at 83 pitches, tied 2-2, with runners at 1st and 3rd, with one out when Carpenter PH for him.
He probably could have thrown one more IP but the opportunity to score was there, so Shildt PH.
August 8, 2021 at 11:33 am #169301That is exactly why the DH will be nice next year. The starter can stay in the game longer instead of being hit for.
Early return are Garcia looks like he may be a keeper. I like McFarland and LeBlanc too. Some of Mo’s dumpster dives may pan out.

jj-cf-stlParticipantBling, I disagree that Carlson has a “horrible platoon split” vs rhp’s. His vs lhp’s is just better.
Overall he’s a 108 ops+, and a 104 vs rhp’s this season. That’s only 4% under his overall and is above league avg.
If you’d have said Edman instead, I’d agree, for this season.
