First free agent I’ve seen connected to the Cardinals.
The quiet period ends at 5pm today and if you are looking for a quick sign in this market keep an eye on Andrew Heaney. Lots of teams looking for the next Robbie Ray and Heaney struck out 27 pct of batters. Hear #Dodgers #Bluejays #Nationals #StLCards among the interested

Participant5.83 ERA in 2021?
November 7, 2021 at 7:19 pm #176319I’d rather have Lester back.
November 7, 2021 at 10:02 pm #176333We better bring “Lucky” LeBlanc back. I’ve been a Cards fan since age 5. But I must say that where “Lucky” lands so will I. Except if the cubbies ink “Lucky”…….then I stay put. I agree will Cranny and LACard…….Mr. Heaney belongs one of two places…..either in Hooterville or pitching in the Mile High City…..with his mile high ERA.
November 7, 2021 at 10:27 pm #176335Heaney is a strong play. I see him as a potential bullpen stud. The problem would be that he probably doesn’t see himself there.
Daniel Norris is a similar, yet more likely bullpen piece.
A back end starter and a key reliever make similar money. Bring him in to start and take him north as a more youthful version of Andrew Miller.November 8, 2021 at 8:23 am #176350Could be worth a low cost 3-4 million deal ….younger version of Kim?
November 8, 2021 at 8:26 am #176352Maybe he can be the next John Tudor….
November 8, 2021 at 8:49 am #176359Heaney would be a decent cheap number 5 starter, but like many have already said, I don’t know if he would be much better than LeBlanc, Happ, or Lester and we are already familiar with them.
November 8, 2021 at 8:54 am #176361I like this potential move.
November 8, 2021 at 11:03 am #176365He’s projected at 1 yr and $6 million. If that’s the case I take a chance on him over Lester, Haap, LeBlanc. But I’d still prefer to acquire a more front line guy. I don’t expect Wainwright to repeat his performance, but he can still be a good 4.

MrperkinsParticipantNo no no. Mlbtraderumors has their top 50 free agents, expected contracts, and destinations up. They have Steven Matz at 3/27mm. That’s the best looking deal to me. I thought he would get 14-16 per year and 4 years.

stlcard25ParticipantFree-agent LHP Andrew Heaney in agreement with Dodgers on one-year contract, pending physical, sources tell @TheAthletic. Deal is for more than $8 million – the amount Robbie Ray got from the Blue Jays a year ago. Heaney, as @JoelSherman1 noted, viewed as similar upside play.

November 9, 2021 at 12:43 pm #176455He did not last long on the open market.
November 9, 2021 at 4:52 pm #176479Now let’s see if he’s worth 8 million.

ParticipantWell you don’t have to do a whole lot to be worth 8 million.
