Apparently it was just announced that Flaherty will toe the rubber in this one. Sure hope they arent rushing him back too soon since we arent going anywhere this year.

Change of plans. Fletcher is being pushed back a day to Friday night in Kansas City. This way he doesnt have to bat and risk reinjuring the oblique.

LeBlanc will toe the rubber in this one on Thursday afternoon against the Pirates at Forbes Field.

Really sorry I didn’t get to see Waino’s gem last night.

Remember the days when a complete game was not a rarity?

Perhaps LeBlanx will give us something to cheer about.

    Rah Cardinals!

I think you can bank on it, Cardinal In France. “Lucky” LeBlanc was a diamond in the rough that somehow someway found his way to us. “Lucky” spins another dandy today…… I’m thinking something along the lines of going 6 innings strong, surrending just 2 runs on 6 hits, while whiffing 5 with just one lone free pass. Arenado whacks a couple tape measure bombs…..8-3 Cards your final.

Cards RISP and RISP/2 outs WAR

    Molina 24/79 .304 15/43 .349 1.1
    Goldy 32/101 .317 11/41 .268 2.7
    Edman 21/71 .296 11/42 .262 2.0
    Arenado 32/94 .340 16/44 .364 2.9
    DeJong 15/42 .242 4/31 .129 1.5
    O`Neill 14/73 .192 7/35 .200 3.5
    Bader 13/51 .255 4/24 .167 1.9
    Carlson 23/86 .267 7/38 .184 1.4
    Sosa 9/43 .209 2/20 .100 1.3

    Baseball reference.

So the nonsense about Arenado being a bust is just that IMHO.Could he be better..yes..couldn`t the whole team..yes.
Right now O`Neill is slumping and needs to move down a spot or two.The batting of Goldy 2nd is wasting him IMO. am wondering about a lineup like this.

    Bader CF
    Edman 2B
    Goldy 1B
    Arenado 3B
    Carlson RF
    O`Neill LF
    Molina C
    DeJong SS

Cards lead 5-4 in the bottom of the 5th. I am out mowing and jogging but I took a break long enough to check the score.

Cards lead 6-4 in the top of the 9th. Rondon had just doubled and Foldschmidt and Avocado are coming up next.

As expected, even with it being a sweep, a contentious series. May we all add “Lucky” LeBlanc to our evening prayers. We were very fortunate to put the finishings touches on the sweep with “Lucky” exiting early. Too much Lars Nootbaar and wayyyy too much Cabby in this one as far as Pittsburgh was concerned. I believe that’s going to be a tandem that will frustrate many a Redbird opponent in the coming years. “Head west young men” and “Kansas City here we come!” are the battle cry’s, as our Birds venture back to the great State of Missouri.

Another pitcher bites the dust. I don’t know how much LeBlanc had been pitching before the Cardinals got him but if he wasn’t in a starting rotation the workload probably did him in…..
