veteran RH bat with 3 plus years MLB excperience.Seems like a good guy to have as depth .Hope he would be okay with staying at Memphis as veteran depth.

Cards get C Ali Sanchez from Mets for cash considerations per Rotoworld. He goes on the 40-man roster.A defensive first young catcher.

Cards got rid of the worst defensive OF of the bunch. He couldn`t steal bases, not much offense,35 years old…why not give the kids the jobs…plus Edman is able to play OF…..IMO Cards FO is going to get a SP and a INF-OF utility guy…….

just saying a little patience would not hurt for some fans.Cards have showed patience with Plummer so fans are being dumb by thinking Gorman should be traded. It just is quite ridiculous IMO.The smart move is to develop Gorman at 1B-3B-LF….
As for his lack of speed..Greg Luzinski played LF…

Glad Gorman is here.Just 20 years old and can play 3B,learn 1B and OF.LH bat .Cards have waited years for Nick Plummer so why not keep Gorman. Continue to develop Gorman at3B-1B-LF-RF.Gorman is still likely 2 years away from StLouis and Montero has not been dazzling,Mendoza looks like glove first 3B…

Why trade Gorman? Just 20 years old..could possibly move to 1B if 3B doesn`t work out.I doubt Colorado would take more than 1 big contract back ( Carpenter? )…Maybe Carpenter,Oviedo,Helsley and Justin Williams

IMO Molina can go get his two years elsewhere. It`s time to look ahead instead of hanging on to a declining star.Molina has done much in Stlouis but it is still a business.Time for Knizner to get a real shot.If Wainwright will do another incentive deal then sign him if he agrees.I say let Wong go also.Give Edman first dibs at 2B.If i had my way i would trade Carlos Martinez for a couple of prospects (if anybody is interested and he is healthy enough to be traded)..Trade Fowler and Carpenter even if you have to eat half their salaries and go with kids/prospects.IMO there is not a untouchable player on the team.(except Carlson,Edman).

What is so silly is that some people still have a case of the ass because Albert went elsewhere. It happens. The Cards and Albert where a good combo for 11 years. Why not remember that instead of being bitter? I choose to think back and enjoy all Albert did for the Cards instead of holding a grudge because he chose LAA.He was one of the best Cards to ever play and watching that was good thing.

Extending Molina would rank with Carpenters extension,Fowlers terrible contract,Cecils continuing misfortune,Gregerson etc.You just cant continue to make judgement calls on contracts that backfire.

As far as I am concerned Molina can take his “expected” contract to another team willing to overpay for a declining player. Why let Molina hold the team hostage because of his overinflated ego that thinks he is still a star.Enough.If he wants to make big dollars then let him go elsewhere.Wainwright has proven willing to work with the team so why can`t Molina?Legacy or not Molina does not deserve a big paycheck at this stage of his career.Enough paying for what he did………pay him for what he is doing now and that certainly is not worth anything close to 10 milling IMHO.

I would rather the Cards say no to both Ozuna and Castellanos.Go with vthe the kids.I see no reason a OF of O’Neill,Bader,Thomas,Fowler(unless traded),Edman and maybe Justin Williams and Carlson can’t succeceed.Rather take a chance with the kids instead of overpaid rag armed FAs.

Don’t see a reason to lament the loss of Burgos ….he was light years away from the majors…
Dean is OF depth with MLB experience.

Like the trade.Thins the OF surplus by letting JMart go to AL and DH and RA gets to play backup OF in TB or Durham.

What is the fascination with Jmart? He is what he is..a wild swinging flailaway hitter who is poor defensively and not a threat on the bases .Born to be in the American league. He is no great shakes hitting and certainly poor fielding…….so he might have some value as a bench guy/PH/Dh…big whoops…..when you let a granite glove older player get PT instead of giving the younger guys a chance to see steady PT you are simply kicking the can down the road and wasting young talent.Thats my 2 cents worth.Jmart does nothing that can`t be replaced by TO,Thomas,Ravelo,RA IMO.

The people that continue to dismiss O`Neill like he was yesterdays trash make me laugh. When he has gotten chances to play he has produced and he is still ony 24 years old.Be a complete foolish line of thinking just to write him off at this stage.I know he not flavor of the month like RA or the departed Adolis Garc ia but IMO he is better than either one of them.

Go with the kids.Between O`Neill,Thomas,Arozarena a combination of the 3 should hold the fort. With the 3 kids and Bader and the albatross Fowler that should take care of the OF.You have Justinb Williams and Carlson getting ready in Memphis and if all else fails you can play granite golove JMartinez for short periods.

inexpensive LHP who can start or work out of the pen.Why not? Leaves money to do something else if the chance presents itself.

If he can help in whatever role the Cards use him in and doesnt cost a bunch then whats not to like? Jeeze people I am as frustrated about the lack of action by the FO also but I dont see the point in ripping every move the FO is trying to do.The season is still a ways off..so the sky isn`t falling yet.As I stated before I still expect some more signings like a Kohl Stewart,Tommy Milone,Drew Smly types.

I just don`t see spending that kind of money on a guy who has only pitched 150 innings 3 times in 6 years and will be 33 when the season starts.Too many risks IMHO.Too pricey, too fragile.

So far the winter meetings have been a big yawn for Cards fans.I expected just as much.It is pretty sad when the highlight of the winter meetings is seeing who your team might take in the RUle 5 draft AAA version.

Have the Rays made a habit of 90 wins .No the last 2 years then 4 losing seasons in a row,then6 winning season ,then 10 losing seasons in a row.Not a bad job but no a long string of 90 win seasons .Trading Pham was smart.Dumping a jackass who was not the best OF on the roster and getting a younger hitter and a top prospect and cutting salary.

the continued dismissal of ONeill is crazy. When he has gotten a real chance he has produced okay numbers. He is not a guy who does well in a bench role.Arozarena is closer to the .270-280 hitter he was before last year when offense exploded in the minors.Thomas is a solid OF and should be in the mix.I agree with Nyquis..get Fowler the hell out of dodge..as for JMartinez….I wouldnt miss him ….
A OF mix with O`Neill,Bader,Arozarena,Thomas with Edman at times and Carlson coming up sometime in 2020 is not a bad OF..Better defense, better speed, more athletic….why not?Might be less Homeruns but maybe more Doubles…..

Nice article and exactly right on the mark.If Molina shows he can still be a factor then talk a Waino-type deal.If YM no like then go play elsewhere.

So its okay top hamstring the team by giving Molina a extension because he used to be really good ? he is average anymore ..father time catches everyone.Molina doesnt deserve a huge extension. If its reasonable like Wainwrights that's the smart move.Dont stifle Knizner`s development to satisfy a aging, declining player wwho has missed many games dues to injury the last couple of years.Overpaying for past performance that will hamper future moves is not a smart business choice.
