Cards have been amazing since the ASB.

I didn’t see it coming but have enjoyed the ride.

4 1/2 game bulge (5 if we can coax a loss out of the Cubs tonight).

Hoping to ride a strong finish into the playoffs.

Need to keep it up and go ahead and bury Milwaukee now.

Hopefully the Cardinals can keep it rolling.

I’m really never confidant in this team. Just can’t get there.

Sometimes when guys lose it they just lose it.

Maybe Carpenter can straighten himself out; maybe not. Either way the Cardinals are on the hook for a ton if cash.

Its a season long thing and at this point I’d rather see him stinking up the Memphis line up and getting 4 plate appearances a night until he figures something out instead of sitting on the bench and striking out as a PH every other night.

Bader just has to hit / get on base more or he can’t stay in the line up.

I figure hes got about a week to 10 days to show something (may be a week from right now).

Is Thomas not a better option?

Heck of a game for the Cards.

If they can win the division looks like Flaherty, Hudson, Mikolas as the playoff starters?

Sad to say but Carpenter needs to stay on the bench for the rest if the year. He just never was able to get it together.

A lot of baseball left with a bunch (7?) against the Cubs.

At 7-13 with an ERA over 4 Mikolas is just a straight up disappointment this year.

I’ve seen really good pitchers have winning records for overall losing teams. Mikolas has done just the opposite.

Gotta win the Sunday game and get out of town with a series split.

It’s been an amazing division race this season, like 2015 with lower win totals.

    It’s entertaining for sure.

Reds doing us a solid the past two nights, lol.

Can we catch the Cubs again?

Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of As The NL Central turns….

Well, that completes the 0-5 west coast road swing. 3 1/2 back of the Cubs now.

Flaherty has to be pissed. He basically will have to pitch a complete game shutout to get a win.

    Fairly disgusting.

“Incremental improvements were not going to push this team to a division championship. This team isn’t good at anything, and “incremental” improvements aren’t going to change that. Just look at the specifics I posted.”

The Cards are current MLB rankings are 25th in Batting Average, 23rd in runs scored, 9th in ERA, 11th in Quality Starts, #1 in Fielding Percentage (they have the fewest errors and the most double plays turned).

It appears to be the offense that’s killing this team although I think the limited range of some of the fielders, while not showing up in the stats, has allowed some runs to score that might otherwise not have.

It’s desperation time for this season for sure. The Cards are really lucky they are still in the hunt for the division and not sitting 8-10 games out just playing out the string.

On paper this looks like a complete mismatch in favor of the Dodgers so I’ll go with the Cardinals to win.

Goldschmidt may be wishing he had signed somewhere else. He’s 31 and probably only has 3-4 good years left.

    Uh oh.

They really need to take 2 of 3 from the Dodgers……

Well, We’ll see. As long as they don’t fall further out than 3-4 games there’s still a legitimate chance.

Sure, we’ll always have 2011 but how often will something like that happen?

If you look at the pitching and hitting numbers being in or near first place in the division is a miracle.

Should the Cards make the playoffs they will get caught on both sides of the pitching squeeze.

Starting rotations get cut to basically the top 3 starters. For now, I don’t see either a number 1 or a number 2 pitcher on the Cardinals staff.

Maybe Hudson and Flaherty grow into those roles but what starting pitcher do we have that’s better than the 3 on a real playoff caliber team?

Need a bounce back game today if they have it in them.

Time for the Cubs to lose too.

If the Cards can get out of LA no more than 1 1/2 out that’ll keep them in contact.

Well, that was a regular ass whipping there.

    Always enjoy beating the Cubs.

I hope Schildt is very thoughtful about introducing Molina and Carpenter back into mix; especially 1-24 on his rehab Carpenter.

I think they know; the numbers don’t lie.

I just think they botched whatever deals they were looking at and maybe were looking at guys they were never going to be able to get….

This team could use hitting and pitching. I am really surprised they did absolutely nothing.

If they don’t win the division heads have got to roll – not that winning this divisions will be all that great this season….

Nice way to start the series.

Puigs bat would have looked great in our line up.

Looking at the numbers (batting and pitching) I don’t see how this team is winning but I’ll take it.

Been a real good run since the ASB. Houston looks like a tall order over the weekend but it’s at home and the team is red hot and riding high. This beats the hell out of the heaping helping of .500 baseball we’ve been treated to for most of 4 years.

I hope the lads can keep it up and roll on.
