Flaherty may or may not get back on track and be a solid pitcher this season but I’ve seen enough. Cards can’t count on him and between this and the Matz debacle they really, really need to try to go get a good starter to add to the rotation….
Flaherty’s 3rd start – hopefully see some substantial improvement over the first two.
IF Flaherty can return to even 90% of what he was in 2019 then the Cards should cruise to the division title – barring other personnel disasters…
So, how many games are we getting ripped off for? I paid for the MLB subscription which I believe advertises ‘watch every game’. It seems like this is the 3rd Friday night Cards game to be on Apple….
Could not agree more. It will be a welcome change to seeing missed call after missed call and even when they have a consistent private strike zone it doesn’t make it ‘correct’
Well, whichever of the Cards or Brewers that get their act together will run away from the pack in this division.
Pirates, Reds, and Cubs appear to be taking the season off.
I like the Cards chances to eventually shuffle through their deck of prospects, make 1 impact move at the deadline, and end up with a really good team at the end.
Thus far this season it feels like the Cardinals are being much more proactive in shuffling through the pieces they have in order to try to find out what’s what earlier rather than later.
I think this will position them to know what pieces to go get prior to the deadline.
They seem to be willing to make changes faster than in the previous few years….
Interesting spot for Liberatore’s second start.
It’s an especially meaningful game for this early in the season.
Sink or swim time for him I guess.
Hopefully Hicks goes to the pen or, if they are absolutely determined that he’s going to be a starter, that they send him to Memphis for 4-5 starts and see what happens.
Uh oh, Liberatore got knocked around pretty badly – by the Buccos…..
7 hits & 2 walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Hopefully Liberatore can be good from the get go. The staff needs it as Flaherty seems to be permanently injury prone.
Maybe DeJong should try his luck at AA.
He hasn’t hit much since the first half of 2019 – don’t really understand why it took so long for the Cardinals to move on…
Well, that didn’t go well.
Cards are still very much a work in progress.
If Flaherty can come back soon and be good that should put Hicks in the pen and the pitching would likely be improved all the way around.
Don’t know what to say about the offense. Maybe it can be ‘good enough’ if the pitching improves?
Maybe the Cards could trade him to the Yankees for a player to be named later and someone from the front office…
