    Brewers have Cards number.

    Cards have Braves number.

Baseball is a funny game to try to figure out.

What would be the expected time track for Condon to reach the majors if things go reasonably well?

    2028 or 2029?

Every other major sport the draft class can have an immediate impact – with baseball you are drafting for 3-4 years out usually. It’s too bad the ping pong balls screwed the Cardinals down to 13th. You really need a top 5 pick or so to think the player can reach the bigs in two years.

The truth is that Bloom may not even be around by the time this year’s draft matures…

Oooof. The Brewers are really good; the Cardinals are really average.

I know the Cards are doing it differently this season but it all feels so familiar.

I still say the last really good team was 2015 before the All Star Break. That team faded badly down the stretch but still hung on to win 100 and the division but were stomped out of the playoffs by the Cubs.

The 2022 team was fun with Albert’s last ride and all that but it was never going to be sustainable or a season to build off of.

Maybe Chaim will have the answers and be able to build a great team that really contends for several years.

I guess we will find out in 2028.

Brewers have taken 7 in a row and 7 of 8 off the Cards this season.

I think we only play divisional opponents 13 times a year now thanks to full interleague play so – they just won the season series if my numbers are right.

Whatever the Brewers have been doing the past few years – Cards need to copy and paste if they can figure it out

I read an article a day or two ago calling for Jordan to ‘return to his natural position’ of 3b.

Is that true? Did he play 3b?

It’s hard to say. All they have to do is stay at .500 and then find a hot streak and boom – you are in the playoffs as WC2 or WC3.

Staying above sea level is the key to preserving a playoff opportunity.

It is strange that since they’ve made some internal player moves to improve the lineup that the W-L record is worse.

Maybe Victor and Nolan were the straws that stirred the drink…

Yep, it used to be you win the league or went home and there was only the WS to play.

I think 1969 was the first year with divisions and league championship series?

Nowadays just play .500 baseball and you are ‘in contention’ for a Wild Card spot…

Does playing a good 2nd base add more WAR than playing a good 1st base?

I’m asking because as good as he is he’s not the BA / HR machine Pujols was.

These games happen. I would have thought the record would be reversed – and there is still time for a hideous collapse.

This season (so far) looks about what I thought next year would look like with the big breakthrough back to serious contention happening in 2028.

Gorman when he’s in the lineup?

    Crooks when he’s catching?

    Church when he’s back?

upgrade Gorman and Scott and the lineup could be legit.

Same as the last 3-4 years we need 3 starting pitchers better than what we have and at least one of them needs to be a stud.

This team might sneak into the playoffs.

Next year I’d expect to make the playoffs – if there is baseball

2028 will be the year I’d expect to make a real push to win the division and advance in the playoffs.

No baseball in 2027 could throw a real monkey wrench into a building team like the Cardinals.

ooof – swept. Still 4 games over but this feels like an early ‘danger point’ in the season.

A bad manager can really screw up a team. A good manager is what his players make of him. A great manager (so I’ve read) is worth 4-5 extra wins over the course of a season.

Clubhouse chemistry / mood probably has as much as anything to do with whether an ‘average’ team is a few games over or a few games under .500.

If anything, we have catchers trade but – let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

The season could still go either way.

On the glass half full side, if Noot comes back 100% and you replace Scott in the lineup AND Walker keeps it up AND there are no major injuries then – this surely has to be a playoff team.

You always, always, always need more pitching. Do we have any at AAA pushing for a call up?

This will be an acid test for May’s turnaround.

We will continue to see if the league adjusts to Walker’s adjustments to their adjustments to his offseason adjustments.

Speaking of adjustments – Gorman needs to make some and I’m sure he’s trying.

Scott II’s stat line is starting to look cringy.
