According to Dr. Google these Cardinals have not overcome a single 5 run deficit in 2026.

The next time I have to watch Gorman play for StL it’ll be too soon.
I doubt Gorman will be back one way or the other. Hopefully Bloom can at least get a bag of practice balls for him.
For starting pitchers I think the rest of the year may be 2023ish – just dumpster dive / kick through the scrap heap and see who can come get through some innings.

You know you’re having a bad season when the best thing about it is rooting for teams you don’t like to lose.
I guess no matter how bad he does that we will get to watch Liberatore start for the rest of the season.

Busch stadium is pretty dead. I understand why but it’s still sad to see what it’s come to.

The lesson is: Unless he’s a complete disaster, the manager has very little to do with on field success. It’s all about the players – the manager’s job is just to not screw it up.
If Brian surrounded himself with a good coaching staff he could probably take the Brewers and win the division this season too.
If Herrera is not a catcher then he’s a DH and only a passable one.
I think he’s athletic enough to play in the OF and he could certainly play 1B.
I’m not bothered if they keep him or if they trade him – just not at Catcher.

Even though (somehow) this is a .500 baseball team, it sure feels like they absorb a lot more beatings like this then they hand out.
It happens to all teams over the the course of the season but the Cardinals don’t currently have the horses to be anything more than pesky and annoying to playoff caliber teams.
Maybe Bloom”s plan will eventually come to fruition – but there are no guarantees.
There is nothing worse for a franchise than being stuck in the middle.
You are average. You don’t make the playoffs or if you do sneak in it’s a real short stay.
You don’t get difference making draft picks.
You just stay in pergatory.
Kinda sad looking at the 40k plus crowds in Philly and all the excitement in that stadium – think back to the long run the Cardinals had that atmosphere in StL – instead of a 1/2 empty stadium with no energy in the air.
I feel a Cardinal victory is coming today.
