May’s 4th start. He’s got to be feeling pressure I would think.
April 13, 2026 at 9:55 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #16 thread – Monday, April 13 vs. Cleveland Guardians #304812Gorman is a couple of years older than Walker. He may have run his plane off the runway.
I’d guess they will leave him alone until the end of May then – if he still isn’t hitting his weight it may be adios amigo…
April 12, 2026 at 9:43 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #16 thread – Monday, April 13 vs. Cleveland Guardians #304674Cards need to get Liberatore off the schneid tomorrow.
April 12, 2026 at 4:34 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #15 thread – Sunday, April 12 vs. Boston Red Sox #304662Couple of stinkers in a row – especially today’s game.
To. Be. Expected.
Walker has had a great couple of weeks but let’s see what happens when the league adjusts to his (finally after two years) adjustments. Two weeks does not erase two years; neither will two months but – at least he’s doing something.
Winn’s inability to stay healthy in his early 20’s is concerning regarding trying to sign him up to a long term deal.
League batting average has been about .245 for the past few years so – anyone hitting under .240 is suss for sure.
League on base percentage has been about .320 for the past few years so – there’s the line.
April 12, 2026 at 9:34 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #14 thread – Saturday, April 11 vs. Boston Red Sox #304622I guess the positive news is that if Leahy moves to the pen the pen improves.
We shall see how it all plays out over the next couple of weeks.
April 12, 2026 at 9:33 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #15 thread – Sunday, April 12 vs. Boston Red Sox #304621Svanson should be on the bus to reset in Memphis – bless his heart.
May can stay for now but he shouldn’t unpack his bags.
April 11, 2026 at 9:19 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #15 thread – Sunday, April 12 vs. Boston Red Sox #304607Cardinals should win 9 to 1.8
April 11, 2026 at 9:18 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #14 thread – Saturday, April 11 vs. Boston Red Sox #304606Surely that has to be it for Svanson?
I guess he is one of those AAAA players?
Anyone know how serious Naughton’s injury is?
This could be ‘it’ for him.
April 10, 2026 at 8:01 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #13 thread – Friday, April 10 vs. Boston Red Sox #304399If May’s next two starts resemble his first two I predict a trip to the IL and then 2-3 rehab starts to see if they can reset him.
Then they’ll run him out there again to see what happens.
If he keeps getting knocked around the pen would be his next destination I would bet.
At least if he fails it’s just a 1 year deal…
April 8, 2026 at 1:08 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #13 thread – Friday, April 10 vs. Boston Red Sox #304276This may be May’s last start for awhile.
April 8, 2026 at 9:04 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #12 thread – Wednesday, April 8 at Washington Nationals #304252Everybody in the lineup should go yard Mikolas if he gets through the lineup twice.
April 8, 2026 at 8:05 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #12 thread – Wednesday, April 8 at Washington Nationals #304248If we don’t light Miles up I’m going to be very disappointed.
I’d like to chase him with 1 out in the top of the third with 5 runs across and 2 on base waiting for whoever get the early call to the pen.
April 8, 2026 at 7:45 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #11 thread – Tuesday, April 7 at Washington Nationals #304246For good or for bad, you usually don’t know what you have with a team until about the end of May.
It doesn’t always hold true but most of the time it does.
April 7, 2026 at 7:37 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #10 thread – Monday, April 6 at Washington Nationals #304158CiF – it’ll take all year and I’d say it’s going about like expected.
I think they going to sift through all their players this year and see (among the younger ones) who to keep and who to flush.
So next year (if there is baseball) they will take a pared down roster, promote a few more players from within, and probably add a few 1 year FA reclamation projects and boil it all down again.
My guess is that 2028 will be the year when they are ready to try to win and contend again – but all of the above is purely speculation on my part.
April 6, 2026 at 9:46 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #10 thread – Monday, April 6 at Washington Nationals #304137Ooof that was a tough one.
Maybe May and Svanson can share a ride to Memphis?
Hopefully they will rotate bullpen pieces until they find what they need.
April 6, 2026 at 8:55 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #9 thread – Sunday, April 5 at Detroit Tigers #304056Winn’s injury situation at a very young age is concerning.
If he’s having issues on his early 20s then by 30 he may decrepit.
May this was just a regular rest day or related to bumps and bruises from the car accident – or maybe it’s not.
April 5, 2026 at 9:30 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #304014The difference between hitting .220 and .270 is exactly 5 more hits per 100 at at bats. So over roughly 25 games if you can collect just 1 additional hit over every 5 game stretch you can go from well below to well above the league average.
April 5, 2026 at 9:24 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #9 thread – Sunday, April 5 at Detroit Tigers #304013I somehow already get Peacock as a part of my cable TV package.
I don’t get Apple TV so I’ll miss those Friday night games – I think there are about 6 of them?
Since I’m out of market I get MLB Extra Innings (which is MLB.TV as far as I can tell) for I think $130 per season to get most every MLB game on Xfinity channels and not have to stream it on my computer.
I guess the big boys like the Dodgers, the Yankees, the Mets, and the Cubs with their huge TV markets will continue to feast while most of the other franchises struggle financially to keep up.
The NFL already has financial parity more or less figured out. The blueprint is there. Having a top notch organization is optional though.
April 4, 2026 at 5:07 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #303965Oooooof… Well – maybe they can salvage a game tomorrow but May? Ugh.
April 4, 2026 at 2:48 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #303953Yeah Walker gave Flaherty some ERA to think about. He may get the win but – bwa ha ha…
April 4, 2026 at 1:37 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #303939I think I see a stint on the IL coming for May – they will find something wrong with him; then 3-4 ‘rehab’ starts in the minors to try to reset him.
April 4, 2026 at 1:00 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #303932May’s goal: “Get my ERA below double digits before I come out of the game.”
April 3, 2026 at 10:11 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #8 thread – Saturday, April 4 at Detroit Tigers #303900Our old friend Jack on the bump tomorrow.
I was rather hoping he’d washed out of the league by now.
