Jeff Gordon is always captain obvious but I can’t argue with much of what he says here.

    Three questions:

    1) How do we know Flaherty is out for at least a month?

    2) Why is Gallegos pitching the 7th inning? I thought he was the 8th inning guy.

    3) How many times during a game does Jim Edmonds say “Tell You What…..”?

    “Tell you what…”

Not as many times as he says “Right there…”

But he’s still by far the best of the bunch.

I wish they started this game earlier, since it is get away day.

This game is much too late for me, but as I just finished a nice din-din of mussels cooked in white wine and shallots with french fries, followed by a healthy dessert of vanilla ice cream and fresh raspberries, I feel another squeaker coming on. Carlos will need all the help he can get from those rubber arms in the pen but I have a feeling we will prevail.

    Rah Cardinals!

And it looks like the Cubs are going to sweep the Padres at Wrigley. They have at least a 3-1 lead going into the top of the 7th. I thought the Padres were high and mighty? Maybe they can exact revenge next week when they play three in San Diego Monday-Wednesday.

    1. I have read more than one article suggesting it will be “significantly longer” than 10 days. Draw your own conclusions.

    2. Usually they go Cabrera, Gallegos, Reyes but since Cabrera was used on Monday night they didn’t use him last night. They obviously don’t have much confidence in anyone else.

    3. He does tend to say that but IMO he is by far their best analyst. He is the only one they have that actually brings insight into the game and gives you information that you wouldn’t have other wise. The other announcers are just cheerleaders.

Cubs lead the Padres 6-1 in the 9th. Either win tonight or be 1 and 1/2 games behind the Cubs. Either the Padres are slumping or the Cubs are on fire. Maybe a little of both. Timing is everything. We shall see how they do the next seven days with four in San Francisco and then the return three game series in San Diego early next week.

And as far as Jim Edmonds announcing goes – I think he is pitiful. Thompson isn’t much better. I agree Horton is a cheerleader. Bring back Hrabosky to the booth as far as I am concerned.

And the new Reds TV announcers, Sadak and Larkin, they are terrible as well. Bring back Brennaman and Welsh is what I say.

I’m a man of few words tonight. But I will say that after seeing what Cardinal In France had for din-din, I immediately relayed his information to the wifey and requested that to be our din-din today. An exact replica is the goal. Gotta keep up with the Joneses when it comes to din-dins. As we speak, din-din is mere moments from being served. Thank you, Cardinal In France!

For my late din-din tonight I am trying a new homemade ice cream recipe in my new White Mountain Freezer. One of the Amish gals at the Gasthof today gave me her recipe and so I am going to try it. Plus I will have some more French Toast as well. Yum yum.

Pugs? When are Goldschmidt and Normal Arenado going to get off the schneid and do something???

32 & 103 are fine and dandy, but it’s a soft 32 & 103, Cranny. There’s a difference. Aro( that’s “Arenado” to the layman ) knows he can do better and I think he will.

Arenado has struggled of late, but was a monster for 6 weeks. No need to worry about him.

Goldschmidt has struggled all year, so some concern there. He should be better from here on out than he has been though.

As for announcers, I like Edmonds. I wish McCarver would come back. Love the stories about the old guys, as those were the heroes of my youth.

Where the Cardinals are really woeful is good old Mike Shannon. A great Cardinal and I love the guy, but man, I occasionally tune in games on SXM from other teams, and there are some sharp announcers out there. It seems most every team I dial in has a much better radio crew than us, at least better than Mike. Rooney is not bad. He and Horton have a chemistry that works pretty well, but Rick gets a little too goofy at times. Fine to do that now and then, but he pushes it a bit too much IMHO.

After watching the Cubs handle the same Padres that killed us and watching the start of this game tonight we are headed in the wrong direction for sure! Hopefully we can play the Pirates again soon! Lol!

Martinez didn’t exactly trick anybody tonight. The Dodgers are on pace to score 88 runs this game, or 99 if the Cards can score at least 88 themselves.

We’ll look back in a couple months and laugh(except for the injuries) at this horrible stretch of baseball. Good times loom, gang.

Wow, there have probably been worse starts to games, but I do not recall one.

On a positive note, at least we do not have to watch this one, unless we want to see how Woodford does.

I started reading a book about Willie Mays about a week ago, so I will read that and enjoy a relaxing time on the patio with a bowl of ice cream.

Oh, we had chicken tacos tonight, with the usual fixins’, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, grated sharp cheddar. No cilantro as we do not have any right now, but that is always good as well.

    See y’all……..

Tyler Webb stayed in the game to bat. Edmonds with more insightful commentary when he said the Cards can’t afford to waste any position players for pinch hitting because they might be needed to pitch later.

Also, Webb did not wear his specs while batting. I assume he has corrective lenses, and if so, I guess he figured it didn’t matter.

Glad I missed it due to work. I peeked in the first and it was 3-1 and for my walk I checked it was 14-3 with an 11 spot in ththe first.

You get starched! It happens but the last 3 series are showing some glaring weaknesses. Tonight I guess it was all on display.

We need a nice 3 out of 4 wins vs. the Reds this week. Let’s hope for the best but….

Oh my! What a thorough thrashing. The squeaker I predicted turned out to be more like the clanking of a prison door. Thank goodness we have at least one sub-.500 team to recover with before going to Wrigley.
