Going into Thursday we have a 3.5 game lead over the Cubs. We are idle and they play at home against the Nationals. As a result there is no way we will not at least be tied for 1st at the end of the Cubs series. If the Cubs beat Washington today and then sweep us we would be tied. So, with Milwaukee currently 4.0 games out chances are fairly good we will still be in 1st place at the conclusion of the Sunday Night ESPN game.

I am not sure I will catch all of this game. Jasper has it’s final home game against Indianapolis Brebeuf starting at 7:00. However, my back has been so sore the last 4-5 days I may decide to just stay home rather than sit in the stands at Alvin C. Ruxer Field and possibly suffer. We shall see.

And my diet din-din today will be a Lean Cuisine along with a salad and a grapefruit. Along with a glass of water.

Wonder which version of CMart we will get. I am way more confident when Gant takes the mound than CMart or even Waino.

I can’t change how you feel, but here are some facts. Last time out, CMart tried to pitch through a sore ankle, and it went poorly. Immediately before that, he was really good – just two earned runs over three starts totaling 21 1/3 innings.

The Reds are starting to hit the skids. They have lost the first three games against San Francisco at Riverfront Stadium and now they trail today by the score of 8-0. EDIT: Make that 10-0 now after a Ruf two run dinger.

Milwaukee is in Cincinnati this weekend for a three game series. I’d like to see the Reds take two of those three.

I misspoke earlier, I meant we know what to expect when Mr. Steady takes the mound.

Cubs won today so that means they come in 3.0 games behind. The worst we can be after the conclusion of the Sunday night ESPN game is tied for first.

Of course, next week we have to go to the southside of Chicago and face LaRussa and the WhiteSox. I’ll take one of the three games at Comiskey and be happy. Then a trip out west to face the D-Backs and the Dodgers.

A tough stretch coming up for the Cards.

A tough stretch coming up for the Cards.

Isn’t it nice when your team is so good that you fear no opposing team? Such a rare thing. Brett Favre’s first and only Super Bowl triumph when my Pack kicked a little Patriot butt, was my most vivid memory of this. I didn’t break a sweat entering post season play that year, as you just knew the Packers were going to win. It’s been quite awhile since our Cards gave us this wonderful luxury. Funny thing…..not funny at all really….the odd thing is that the Cardinals seem to get clipped in the World Series every time they field a seemingly unbeatable post season team. 1982 might be an exception. My memory of that magical year has become quite cloudy.

Live a little, Rat. Fire up that air fryer and doesn’t a couple Gasthof pies sound delish for the big weekend series.

Speaking of tough stretches, the Mets have 32 games in 31 days, from June 11 to July 11. Still nothing like the Cards last year…

The Mets can rest during the break. lol

I think mentally strong teams can shrug this off. Plus they do get Degrom and Thor back at some point.

Before I forget…..Pujols hit a two run homer for the Dodgers last night. They won 3-2. Swept Arizona four straight.

There is light at the end of the diet tunnel Rat. My wife said I get lamb chops this weekend to celebrate 20 lbs lost. I hope I can summon the strength to crawl to the table.

You’ll make it bling. Not sure I will. One thing i’ve always been told about a diet is NOT to starve yourself. If you need a bite of something in the afternoon or evening to keep you from starving then fire away. My main thing is no longer am I drinking 3-4 cans of Mt. Dew/Pepsi/Root Beer a day. Maybe just one.
Most of the time what I drink is water.

If the Cardinals lose three games on a row to the worthless cubs, all the cardinal players should instantly retire and be required to take a walk of disgrace throughout all of cardinal territory.

Offensively where are the Cards better than the Cubs? By position I mean.

    Guys,
Speaking of the diet. I just bought a brand new White Mountain 6 Qt Ice Cream Freezer off of Ebay. Should arrive in the next week or two. Lots of people tell me the White Mountain Freezer is THE best. I guess we shall see. Might have to put that diet on hold for a couple of days and try it out when it arrives.

And me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch tonight, tuning in. Not going to the Jasper baseball game as my back is still sore. Was hard for me to get around at the grocery earlier today.

Looking forward to seeing a bigger crowd at Sportsman’s Park tonight!

Still got bader in the 6 hole, I just don’t like it. Williams also still in there. I know he did better last game but still. Shildt is just a stubborn mule.

My son just snagged a couple outfield pavilion seats for $20 each for tonight’s game. He said there is a pretty good assortment of seats available in all price ranges.
