That is not a solution! Team should compete but injuries are a part of the game. It’s up to the owners to give us what we need to compete. It’s that simple and they’ve done an average job of keeping us over .500. They should at least do that and see what happens 6 weeks from now.
June 5, 2021 at 7:18 am #163207I believe there are an extraordinary number of injuries in MLB this season, so it will be all the harder to find help. I predict a dumpster deep dive. Homer Bailey anyone?

jj-cf-stlParticipantSomeone to acquire immediate IP, as we did in the past with Tyson Ross, is my guess.

ParticipantWho’s the strength and conditioning coach?

jj-cf-stlParticipantThe slider away is kicking Goldy’s butt. He looked like Bader whiffing at it.

stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards are now in 3rd place and fading fast. Someone needs to right the ship, but who really fits that mold right now? John Gant has been the best on the staff, most certainly of late. Gonna need Oviedo to step up today.

jj-cf-stlParticipantIn the last 7 days both Carpenter and Williams have made 3 starts each.
.286 / .333 / .500 / .833 is Carpenters slash line.
4 for 14, 3 doubles, 1/4 BB/K.200 / .333 / .500 / .833 is Williams slash line.
2 for 10, 1 HR, 2/3 BB/KThat ranks their .833 ops 4th and 5th behind Carlson 1.114, O’Neill 1.024 and Knizners .944 ops.
Edman floats between 2B and RF and Shildt patches together a lineup without DeJong or Bader. Regardless of what you may read above, in this GT, Carpenter and Williams are not holding back this lineup, THIS WEEK.
ops
.760 Goldy
.714 Edman
.656 Sosa
.472 Thomas
.396 Molina
.393 Rondon
.178 ArenadoJune 5, 2021 at 10:36 am #1632151982 willie
ParticipantDoesn’t matter what they did this week. Carpenter hAs held this team back three years. For him to balance out the bad start, his ops would have to be astronomical and that doesn’t include his bad defense and base running mistakes. One week doesn’t anything make.also being fourth or fifth just means average at best so his week is still terrible.

jj-cf-stlParticipantOf course this week doesn’t Willie, it doesn’t fit your Carpenter agenda. You set the topics time frame when you incorrectly said he had one hit and now they think he’s Musial. The actual correct facts are above, but go ahead and deny them and bash away.
Over the past two weeks Carpenters ops is second on the club with 5 starts. I guess that doesn’t matter either for a club that is tanking.

ParticipantCarpenters ops being second on the team just tells you how bad the rest of the team has been during that span, not how good carpenter has been. I dont have a carpenter agenda, I tell it like I see it. Carpenter isn’t good enough to play for my towns independent league team and they aren’t usually that good. It’s been that way for a while. Anyone can be a fanbot of him if they want. I used to be a fan, funny my son never was, and he turned out to right about him. I still think he was once a really good player, hit all time great for about two months once upon a time. The difference is I accept reality and what I see on the field, between hitting, fielding, and base running tell me he’s done. Any other team would have already released him. Heck the angels ate pujols money and released him and he was doing better much better than carpenter with a lot more cache going for him. But keep on believing.
