Would Gorman’s salary go up for sure? Is it possible that an arbiter might decrease his pay based on performance?
July 29, 2026 at 5:11 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #108 thread – Wednesday, July 29 vs. Chicago Cubs #314495Seems like one year recently we were loaded with lefty starters and had 2-3 more in the pen.
we got ONE lefty in the pen now?
Svanson…..
July 29, 2026 at 8:04 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #108 thread – Wednesday, July 29 vs. Chicago Cubs #314455I think it will be.
Likely an asset dump incoming; hopefully Bloom gets a good future MLB player back for each one traded.

July 28, 2026 at 7:01 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #106 thread – Monday, July 27 vs. Chicago Cubs #314354It’s hard to say. They’ve been wobbling for about 6 weeks though.
Walker hasn’t hit a dinger in a long time. Will he get to 30? At one point 40 looked like a real possibility.
Will be interesting to see what happens at the trade deadline.
July 27, 2026 at 11:10 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #106 thread – Monday, July 27 vs. Chicago Cubs #31433653-53. Back to .500.
It would have felt better if they had stared slowly and then improved to claw back to this point.
As it is….
July 26, 2026 at 6:00 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #105 thread – Sunday, July 26 vs. Cincinnati Reds #314175I mean, maybe there was simply no one else he could use today in that spot other than Svanson.
I just dont understand why Svanson is in StL.
July 26, 2026 at 4:51 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #105 thread – Sunday, July 26 vs. Cincinnati Reds #314165Why use Svanson there when you are tied at home? Was there no one left in the pen besides O’Brien?
Why is Svanson even still in StL? Just try anybody off the DFA list / AAA / independent leagues – they could not be worse.

July 26, 2026 at 4:13 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #105 thread – Sunday, July 26 vs. Cincinnati Reds #314158Putting Svanson in the game was giving the game away almost intentionally.
It is what it is.
July 25, 2026 at 12:23 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #104 thread – Saturday, July 25 vs. Cincinnati Reds #313994If he would agree to it, I think Herrera can play 1b and is a good enough athlete to play LF.
Other than an older player I don’t like the idea of someone being full time DH because I like being able to rotate guys off the field while keeping their bat in the lineup.
July 24, 2026 at 10:15 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #103 thread – Friday, July 24 vs. Cincinnati Reds #313957Well, the fade will make the upcoming trades easier to take.
They need to trade May, Stanek, Romero, and maybe even Nootbar and if they were solidly in the playoffs then it would be much more painful when it happens.
As it is – these guys are out of gas so they can get a look at some more young players and improve their draft position for next year.
July 12, 2026 at 9:10 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #94 thread – Saturday, July 11 vs. Atlanta Braves #312758Brewers have Cards number.
Cards have Braves number.
Baseball is a funny game to try to figure out.
It’s funny how just one letter can sometimes completely change the meaning of a word.
What would be the expected time track for Condon to reach the majors if things go reasonably well?
2028 or 2029?
Every other major sport the draft class can have an immediate impact – with baseball you are drafting for 3-4 years out usually. It’s too bad the ping pong balls screwed the Cardinals down to 13th. You really need a top 5 pick or so to think the player can reach the bigs in two years.
The truth is that Bloom may not even be around by the time this year’s draft matures…

July 9, 2026 at 11:22 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #92 thread – Thur, July 9 vs. Milwaukee Brewers #312442Oooof. The Brewers are really good; the Cardinals are really average.
I know the Cards are doing it differently this season but it all feels so familiar.
I still say the last really good team was 2015 before the All Star Break. That team faded badly down the stretch but still hung on to win 100 and the division but were stomped out of the playoffs by the Cubs.
The 2022 team was fun with Albert’s last ride and all that but it was never going to be sustainable or a season to build off of.
Maybe Chaim will have the answers and be able to build a great team that really contends for several years.
I guess we will find out in 2028.
July 8, 2026 at 8:07 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #90 thread – Tues, July 7 vs. Milwaukee Brewers-DH Game 2 #312298Brewers have taken 7 in a row and 7 of 8 off the Cards this season.
I think we only play divisional opponents 13 times a year now thanks to full interleague play so – they just won the season series if my numbers are right.
Whatever the Brewers have been doing the past few years – Cards need to copy and paste if they can figure it out
July 3, 2026 at 5:13 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #85 thread – Friday, July 3 at Chicago Cubs #311791My heavens! Save a couple of runs for tomorrow…
July 3, 2026 at 9:44 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #84 thread – Thursday, July 2 at Atlanta Braves #311714I read an article a day or two ago calling for Jordan to ‘return to his natural position’ of 3b.
Is that true? Did he play 3b?
June 28, 2026 at 9:16 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #80 thread – Saturday, June 27 vs. Miami Marlins #311263It’s hard to say. All they have to do is stay at .500 and then find a hot streak and boom – you are in the playoffs as WC2 or WC3.
Staying above sea level is the key to preserving a playoff opportunity.
June 27, 2026 at 8:45 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #80 thread – Saturday, June 27 vs. Miami Marlins #311183It is strange that since they’ve made some internal player moves to improve the lineup that the W-L record is worse.
Maybe Victor and Nolan were the straws that stirred the drink…
June 25, 2026 at 8:31 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #79 thread – Thu, June 25 vs. Arizona (PPD) #310989Yep, it used to be you win the league or went home and there was only the WS to play.
I think 1969 was the first year with divisions and league championship series?
Nowadays just play .500 baseball and you are ‘in contention’ for a Wild Card spot…
Does playing a good 2nd base add more WAR than playing a good 1st base?
I’m asking because as good as he is he’s not the BA / HR machine Pujols was.
June 19, 2026 at 7:54 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #73 thread – Thursday, June 18 at Kansas City Royals #310364These games happen. I would have thought the record would be reversed – and there is still time for a hideous collapse.
This season (so far) looks about what I thought next year would look like with the big breakthrough back to serious contention happening in 2028.
Gorman when he’s in the lineup?
Crooks when he’s catching?
Church when he’s back?
