I was as surprised as most of you were. So, i listened to the press conference in addition to reading Brian’s article. Mo was very careful what he said.
Mo stated that the move was made due to “Philosophical differences of where they wanted to take the ball club.” This leads me to believe it relates in-game use of analytics, 2022 roster construction or both. Mo stated he was hopeful that the full coaching staff would be returning in 2022.
It will be interesting to hear Shildt’s thoughts.
I believe the Cards paid in the range of $14.75M of Fowler’s contract in 2021 (per Baseball Reference and Cots).
Agree David … the Dodgers got the big hit and the Redbirds could not. Hated to see the Cards lose, but they did have opportunities that they could not cash in on.
Oh well …
Close … Washington released him and the Cards picked him up.
No kidding! Very frustrating!
Come on Tyler!
Edmund steals second … Goldy with an opportunity here!
Edmund singles … Goldy next!
DeJong makes the play! PDJ will lead us off! Go Cards!
Need Bader to do something here.
Whew! May have dodged a bullet there!
Way to get things started Dylan!
The offense needs to get something going here.
Garcia got out of it. Two scoreless innings in the book.
0-9 with RISP?
My two cents: I hope it is not true.
1. Success under the Dewitt Ownership group has been unprecedented. They have had a continued high level of focus on the team unlike previous ownership groups. I know it has been frustrating at times, but you cannot argue with the success thus ownership group has delivered.
2. No Guarantees. A new owner or ownership group brings uncertainty. There are no guarantees that a new owner will have the same focus on baseball as the current ownership group (Loria, Angelos) Additionally, there is no certainty that a new owner will have the same level of commitment to the community (Kroenke).
TV: I go back and forth with Danny Mac. I enjoy listening to Edmunds and Ankiel. They both provide good insights. Rick needs some refinement work in the off-season and he will be fine. I like Horton, but he is a homer. Thompson can go.
Radio: I think Rooney does a nice job. I think Claebs (sp) does a great job. I like his insights and passion. Shannon was enjoyable to listen to in his time. However, It is time for Mike to retire.
When I was a kid I would listen to Harry Caray and Jack Buck do the games. Then Jack Buck and Mike Shannon. I did not realize how good we had it during those years.September 28, 2021 at 9:40 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 157 thread – Tuesday, September 28 vs. Brewers #173831
