Scott hit that pretty good but it was right at Wallner. Wallner had a tough play as that was sinking fast.

Scott is looking confident this year.

Good to see Gray being…not horrible. He’s a pro’s pro so I expect he’ll give it everything he’s got and be smart about it. Hopefully he’s what we need at the top of the rotation this year.

Nado was right on that first pitch and just missed. He got all of the next one though!

Those Twins hats are nowhere near as good as the classic “TC” domes. And these uni’s are pretty drab.

Walker has closed up his stance a little more. Like seeing that. Still leans back a little, but looks more balanced than his old stance.

Edit – still kind of flails at the outside pitch rather than stepping in to it. Needs to learn to drive that outside pitch the other way.

I said I liked this batting order the other night. I think it’s about the best we can do. I’d swap Donovan with Contreras but that’s it.

Good PA by Walker. Laid off a couple of really good pitches

Yeah, those hats create the impression that we’re playing the Marlins. What looks like a genuine Big League uniform is the rarity these days.

Agree jnevel. If Nootbaar shows some consistent power we might end up seeing Donovan-Winn-Nootbaar at the top.

Victor does that lean back thing like Carpenter did.

I second the question for Rats about the lineup. I would swap Noot and Donovan and then Winn and Scott, but overall I think that is one of the best lineups we can put out there.

Bader with a nice game. And our old buddy Ty O’Neill has a monster debut with Baltimore, including yet another opening day home run. I think that makes it a half dozen and counting for the Canadian Strong Man.

Winn doesn’t get on base enough to be in the top third in the lineup for me, and he doesn’t have enough power to be the middle third. Bottom third feels appropriate for a SS in general and I’m not saying WInn is a bad player, as he is actually quite good.

Nice team win! I thought the pitching and defense were good today. I would switch Donnie and Wilson around in the line up. Walker laid off a number of pitches he would have hacked at last season. It is only one game, but I liked what I saw.

I love Winn but agree ATM. Bottom third. I liked him leading off at first but he just didn’t get on base enough.

A very satisfying game overall. Well worth staying up until 1:45 a.m.

    Rah Cardinals!

Yeah, no oven mitts today, 64cards. The nice diving stop by Donovan to start the 4-6-3 and the outstanding running catch in RCF from Scott saved the day.

Well that and Winn hasn’t really hit much since 2024.

Winn came around to score 85 runs last season. That’s quite a few runs. Especially for a team that struggled on offense. And 70 of those runs were scored in games in which he was slotted at lead-off. I like him leading off.

The Reds blew their opening day today. They had a 3-2 lead going to the 9th. The Giants still trailed 3-2 with two outs and runners at the corners in the top of the 9th. Bailey singles to tie the game and then Flores slams a 3-run homer.

6-4 Giants the final. Tough way to lose on Opening Day. Great way to win on Opening Day.

The Cardinals run the table in the sense that they’re the only NLC team to have won a game. That could be crucial come the end of Sept…Hey, I like to scoreboard watch, okay?

1TD – Lars has come around to score twice already batting first. That equals 324 runs over the course of the season. Bound to happen. That’s a whole lot more than 85.

Haha…Yeah, he’s like Rickey. “When Rickey gets on, Rickey scores!”
