His location hasn’t been great but the late movement on his pitches seems to be really bothering these Mets hitters.
May 4, 2025 at 8:02 pm #281130McGreevy must have some deception on his fastballs. Not that hard thrown, but these guys are whiffing on it
May 4, 2025 at 8:02 pm #281131I had a seat at a game in ’12 in which Molina attempted to go 1B to HP on a double that rolled to the wall with less than 2 outs. I can’t recall who hit the double, but the game was against the Phillies and the score was tied. The entire ballpark was on it’s feet making all kinds of noise as they fanatically cheered the great catcher trying to motivate him onwards to score the lead run, and Yadier was digging around the basepaths like his very life depended on it. I thought he had a good chance to score, but by the time he’d rounded 3B he began to leak some oil and as he approached HP it looked like his gearbox was about to scatter…It was a bang-bang play at the plate that ended in a lot of sparks and a large cloud of dust. When all of that dust had settled, he was out…Haha! But still, it was worth every penny of the price of admission to see the future HOF’er motoring around the basepaths!

jj-cf-stlParticipantChallenged the Mets. He came right after them. 4-0 W/L
May 4, 2025 at 8:03 pm #281133That’s a double header winner!
May 4, 2025 at 8:03 pm #281134What a game by McGreevy. Either McGreevy or Victor deserve that game ball. Without either that game is a blow out loss
May 4, 2025 at 8:03 pm #281135McGreevy did the job! Nice to get the sweep!
May 4, 2025 at 8:05 pm #2811365 innings out of Graceffo the other day and 5 2/3 out of McGreevey today have been lifesavers to our shaky pen.
May 4, 2025 at 8:05 pm #281137Find a spot for McGreevy in the rotation. The kid deserves it. Give him Mikolas or Fedde’s spot. Neither vet is pitching good and neither has a role with the team beyond this year. Do what was stated in the offseason and build for the future.
May 4, 2025 at 8:11 pm #281139McGreevy has what some of our other guys like Walker and Gorman do not, and that is the mental aspect. He plays loose, has fun out there, and isn’t going to let anything get to him. He is a cool as a cucumber out there. That mental aspect is just as important as the physical aspect in baseball.
May 4, 2025 at 8:15 pm #281140ATM couldn’t agree more! If we send McGreevey down we simply don’t want to win! He is the only pitcher(maybe player) we have that I would pay to watch! His desire is obvious! Keep this kid and let the fans watch him! He deserves it and so do we!

jj-cf-stlParticipantDoes McG have to go down as the 27th player? We’ve been on the run and I haven’t kept track.
May 4, 2025 at 8:17 pm #281142JJ, McGreevy wasn’t the 27th man. He took Munoz or Svanson’s spot Saturday. Then Munoz came back as the 27th man today.

jj-cf-stlParticipantThanks. I can’t wait to see Pozo’s sprint speed tonight!
May 4, 2025 at 8:23 pm #281144He still probably goes down simply because it would be 5 days before he’s ready to pitch again and we already have 6 starters. Unless Fedde or Matz is suddenly traded, McGreevey is the obvious solution to go down. But he will be back up soon with that performance today.
May 4, 2025 at 8:36 pm #281146McGroovy’s body of work with the big club is widening………..and his stellar results aren’t worsening. He better not be seeing the city of Memphis anytime soon. He seems to unknowingly bring his A-game to the elite level of his chosen profession, while not being able to quite achieve his desired results vs lesser competition. He’s a rare bird.
This sweep, coupled with the Cards twin bill sweep in Cincy a few days ago, definitely saves Oli from being pink slipped before the All-Star game. Big week coming up…….they should be inspired to play some good baseball…..and oh how about Victor Scott. He gives us hope for a better tomorrow.
May 4, 2025 at 8:58 pm #281150No question that sweeping this DH’er against a good team is cause for some optimism, but this is baseball and the beat goes on tomorrow evening with the first of a 3 game series vs. the last place Pirates. I say keep working the brooms.
May 4, 2025 at 8:58 pm #281151Team is really good at home and really ?? on the road.
Typical for a youngish group going through growing pains.
Mets leave town with a headache for sure.
May 4, 2025 at 9:07 pm #281153During several plays of which the camera was required to pan into the OF area during today’s games I couldn’t help but to see the large advertisement emblazoned on the OF wall that read, “bet365″…Things sure do have a way of changing in a big hurry when there’s large sums of cash involved. I feel bad for Joe and Pete.
May 4, 2025 at 9:11 pm #281154Yeah, and the headache only increases when the NY media formulates and prints the clever headlines…”Mets thrashed by little whiz-kids Redbirds”…Haha!
May 4, 2025 at 10:01 pm #281155If they would keep Walker and Gorman out of the lineup and make Pozo the primary catcher, they might be a little better than we expected. Depends on how the pitching holds up though. But they won’t keep Walker and Gorman out of the lineup and they won’t make Pozo the main catcher.
May 4, 2025 at 10:52 pm #281156Mikolas needs to go on the IL with a mystery injury so MCGreevy can have a spot in the rotation.
May 4, 2025 at 11:26 pm #281157I don’t want to set myself up for another disappointment, but when I see only 3 BB’s next to 23 K’s in 28.2 IP’ed, I’m impressed. It’s no wonder he’s 4-0 and boasts a 1.57 ERA. Now all he has to do is work another 150 innings this season.
