The argument for leaving Noot at leadoff, for me, is not messing with the success Scott2 has had out of the 9 hole. Young players can press when put in more prominent lineup positions.

That is why I used the word envision. Scott may not be ready to take over leadoff today but the day is coming.

I would be happy with 6-6. Facing 3 of the best teams the next 3 series and then Arizona isn’t too bad either. I’ll call 7-5 for the next 12. At least we have 6 starts from Liberatore and Gray in that timeframe.

Noot robbed of another 2B by a great defensive play in CF

Agree about Victor and his hard work. He put in a lot of effort and you can tell. His stance, swing, and approach have all underwent change from his hard work. With Scott’s work ethic and value floor with his defense and speed, I would feel like to lock him up to an extension.

The other thing about Scott is he has that athletic build without being muscle bound and injury prone.

    Cards win.

    Cubs lose.

Only one game out of first place.

    Unbelievable.

That’s an 8’ter from Decatur. On to the hard 9.

8 in a row! It doesn’t seem like there is any way this team should only be 1 out of 1st. Tough series ahead, but let’s go beat 3 Cy Young ballot type guys in a row in Philly.

If the Cardinals can tack 1 more W onto this streak, they’ll outclass the ’22 team in regards to consecutive wins.

That’s now only 4 ER’s allowed in the last 5 turns from the rotation in 36.2 IP’ed. I mentioned the other day that if the 5 man continues turn out work like that, the W streak could extend well into July…

Good win! Great streak! Hope the team can keep things rolling. The schedule gets tougher moving forward.

Obviously the pitching’s been the crux of the proverbial biscuit, but today the bats struck early and then maintained pressure throughout the entire contest. Plenty of traffic on the basepaths and plenty of pressure on the opposing pitchers. It’s enjoyable to watch and reminds me of those Redbird teams that once dominated the NL.

Who ARE these guys! They look like a winning baseball team. I doubt they can continue at this pace given the tougher opposition on the horizon but they sure are fun to watch. If they can just play a steady nub over .500 it should be an enjoyable season.
    Rah Cardinals!

It looks like Marmol is not playing Gorman and Walker together very much – makes sense as those guys are rally killers right now…

I’d say one black hole in the line-up is more than enough. Let’s hope at least one of them can get straightened out.

That’s 22% of our offense wasted Z. And one of them isn’t Good D. We are riding it out with these 2 just not both at the same time.

Re Gorman and Walker: Time to cut’em both loose. Start looking at some other promising youngsters.

Eight straight! I have really become a Pozo fan. I might be almost as much a fan of him as Pugs was of Kitty last year. The guy gets a hit or two every time he plays. And he seems to work well with the pitchers, especially Mikolas. Maybe he can teach Walker how to hit.

Tagging on to my comments about Pozo, we have an embarrassment of riches at catcher. Not not so we have four guys on the 26 man roster that can catch, we have Crooks on the farm. Gonna be tough seeing one or two of these guys go, but I a sure we will deal from strength if we are contending in July, or will purge if we fall back.

It’s worth repeating that the interleague scheduling is incredibly foolish and silly. The Cardinals are now one game off the pace and are chasing the Cubbies. We haven’t seen them all season and won’t see them until June 23rd when we play our natural arch enemy 4 games at home. Between today and those first 4 games vs. the Cubs, the Redbirds will play a total of 24 baseball games against AL teams…That’s right, 24 games! When I think about how over the top stupid that is, it makes me wonder if stupidity isn’t the basic building block of the universe…

Did anybody suspect at this point in 2025 that the best thing about Walker would be his defense in RF???

    He can’t hit a lick.

    He’s doomed.

The players are seperating themselves from one another, just like the players did on the clubs we played for.

We kept O’Neill and Carlson around out of necessity. Injures and lack of depth gave them an extended runway.

Both the manager and POBO have said the runway is shorter now for Walker and Gorman. Today was game 41 and the deadline was game 100 last season.

The Cardinals won’t find any bargain aisles any time soon. Not only are the Phillies a first rate baseball team, but I think Citizens Bank Park is by far the most inhospitable environment for an opposing team to play a baseball game. I think most would agree that the folks in Philadelphia are well practiced in the art of hostility. It’s a point of pride in “The City of Brotherly Love.”

First of all! I’m pumped beyond belief! My team is fun to watch again! Playing hard winning, most contributing! So happy!

Second, I’d we do start really competing for a playoff spot we need to ditch Gorman and Walker! Tbey can’t hit! They add nothing offensively! Having them bat is almost like having the pitchers spot! I would much rather see Saggese, Burleson Pozo and Herrera get the at bats tbey are getting! Time to pull the plug and move on!

Yeah, me too, Steve60. It’s been more than 2 years since this team has shown any genuine signs of life. It’s nice to have Cardinal baseball to look forward to again. Hopefully they can keep this train rolling when it arrives in Philly!
