6:45 p.m.
RHP Sonny Gray (4-1, 4.50) vs. LHP Sean Guenther (0-0, 2.25)
FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRMay 18, 2025 at 11:53 pm #282643Gray got touched up pretty good in his last turn in Philly where he was jumped early to the tune of 7 ER’s allowed before exiting after only 3.2 innings. He was also skint-up for 3 taters in that brief outing. The Cardinal bats battled back to win that game and let Sonny off the hook, so he owes them one. Hopefully he’ll pay them back with a nice turn vs. the Tigers.
May 19, 2025 at 4:58 am #282644All of a sudden need to get bats going. 1 run in 3 of last 4 games and tater providing that run in 2 of them. Have to put guys (Arenado) in right positions in the lineup.
May 19, 2025 at 5:09 am #282645I fear Rat may have unearthed the core of the problem: Insufficiency at the plate. It’s nice when we win a 1-run game. It’s less nice when the other guys do it.
May 19, 2025 at 7:57 am #282656We had enough baserunners yesterday. Couldn’t get them in.
May 19, 2025 at 10:25 am #282662Sure did, KCB. They banged out 12 hits along with a BB and HBP for a total of 14 aboard. But 0-8 with RISP and 13 LOB tells the story of yesterday’s game. With all that traffic, it’s a little surprising that they were only victimized once by the GIDP, but it was an untimely one coming in the 8th after the lead-off man Herrera had reached on a HBP. The GIDP was followed up by a base hit and a BB. Simply couldn’t get that timely base hit.
May 19, 2025 at 10:28 am #282663Yeah, our lineup and batting order is pretty good, but needs a tweak or two to optimize it. You have to get Herrera up a couple notches as he has been our best hitter when he plays. Either switch him with Arenado, or bump Nolie and Willie down a notch.
Do that and 1 thru 7 is pretty lethal with Burly in there at 7. And 8 and 9 are no slouch with Pages/Pozo and Victor.
May 19, 2025 at 10:32 am #282664Yep we need to get VS2 going again. He’s a real sparkplug when he’s hitting on all 8.
May 19, 2025 at 11:54 am #282673Whilst we have the best team in baseball this week in the Tigers the Cubs get to play the Miami Marlins again. At least this one is in Miami.
May 19, 2025 at 3:49 pm #2826861. Nootbaar LF

May 19, 2025 at 3:55 pm #282689The Cardinals have been seeing quite a few lefties lately…I wonder if they’ll get Lolich?

jj-cf-stlParticipantOli bumps Nado to 6th and sits Walker and Gorman.
May 19, 2025 at 3:59 pm #282691Nado volunteered for the 6 slot…

May 19, 2025 at 4:10 pm #282694Haha…You’re welcome, jj! You know me…Baseball’s supposed to be fun!
May 19, 2025 at 4:11 pm #282695Hey Carter, I haven’t been able to get the images you’ve been posting of late. I feel like I’m missing out on something good!
May 19, 2025 at 4:45 pm #282696You are Dom. They’re spectacular!
May 19, 2025 at 4:46 pm #282697We owe these guys. I was only 4 years old at the time, but I still haven’t forgiven the Tigers for coming roaring back from 3-1 down in the series, to beat us in ’68. Yes, 06′ was sweet, but I still believe more payback is due. I would have gone crazy if they had beat us in 06′ too.
What’s for din-din one may ask? Heading shortly over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, where I’ll be opting for the steak tartare(off menu), goat cheese salad, stuffed mushrooms and 2 pieces of their scrumptious banana foster cake for dessert.
May 19, 2025 at 5:04 pm #282698Din din for me today occurred after I hauled all my trash down to the dump/landfill. I had to load everything up in the Ford F150 and then throw it out once I got down to the dump.
Then din din was a Hungry Man’s Salisbury Steak TV dinner, bread and butter, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, some walnut brownie mix, and a chocolate shake.
After dark tonight I am jumping on the 4-wheeler and sneaking down to the factory next to me with my shovel and bucket. I am going to fill the bucket up with gravel (7/9 size) so I can spread it over the small place down near the end of my lane. I hope I don’t get caught in my thievery..:)

May 19, 2025 at 5:16 pm #282700We saw enough of Lolich in ‘68. Roger Maris warned the club heading in to that Series that Lolich would be the one to watch out for as opposed to McLain.
If we see Skubal that will be a tough one. He is one of the best pitchers out there right now.
Like the batting order. I would prefer Herrera at four, but five is a step in the right direction.
May 19, 2025 at 5:31 pm #282701I think I’d go:
1.Winn
2.Donovan
3.Herrera
4.Contreras
5.Nooty
6.Arenado
7.Burly
8.Pages
9.ScottHopefully next year it’ll be Scott-Winn 1-2.
Take an extra bucket with you so you won’t be tempted to go back, Rat. Love your Hungry Man’s Salisbury steak din-din. As a kid I would drench it in catsup and it was marvelous. I bet BicycleMike & Co. are having Mexican tonight.
May 19, 2025 at 5:57 pm #282702I never used to have any problem getting the images of those 5 tool playerettes that Carter routinely posts on here. Now, it’s just that little square that reads, “pic” next to it. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
May 19, 2025 at 6:02 pm #282703You have to know Carter, TD…….he’s just toying with us. He baited the hook recently with that pic of the scantily clad Cardinal fan of the female persuasion.
May 19, 2025 at 6:07 pm #282704
jj-cf-stlParticipantMe2, same as Dom said. Just yesterday and today.
