Where is the Thursday thread for this series?

It is a four game series, right?

My folding pocket schedule says 4 games is right, Rats. They play the Reds at 11:40 CDT on Thurs. before heading home to play the Mets on Fri.

Mr. Walton got the Thursday game thread up 1td. All is well.

And the Cubs lost on Sunday night at Wrigley. The Phillies beat them 3-1 in 10 innings in the ESPN televised game.

Seems to me that there isn’t all that much activity on these game threads nowadays.

Could it be that some on here are losing interest in Cardinal baseball?

    And FYI here,
No chance of rain tonight at Crosley Field. Game should be played with no weather issues. Tomorrow night, however, could be a different story.

Yeah, there’s no question that game thread attendance is way down. I still enjoy the chatter during the games, but after a while I get tired of talking to myself.

Amen Dom. I bailed on Saturdays game in the 5th. Talking to myself. I can do that without typing 😉

Haha!…Yeah, with all of the recent day games I’ve missed several game threads due to taking advantage of the relatively nice and pleasant spring weather in order to get as much yard work done as possible before the weather begins to get blistering hot. I do plenty of talking to myself out there in the yard too. Mostly bad words. It seems like I accomplish more work and get things done quicker when I use a lot of profanity…Haha!

Sometimes a well placed bad word really helps, 1TD! I tend to do that now and then, and unfortunately the last couple of years of Cardinal baseball has not helped my language either.

My wife told me one time that physiologically studies have shown that a profane word or two when frustrated is actually good for you. Has something to do with releasing stress, rather than holding it in. Still I would prefer the Cardinals keep that process to a minimum. 🙂

We need to come up with some new profane words. The words that used to be considered profane, and generally avoided in mixed company, are now spoken widely and openly throughout most of the media outlets, TCN being one of the exceptions. On the other hand, it might eventually come full circle, and profanity will, once again, be confined to locker rooms and privately held conversations.

I remember back in high school in the 1950s a bunch of us used to express our frustration or disgruntlement with the word “schnitvick.” Don’t know where it came from and haven’t heard it since. But in that time and place it seemed to do the job.

CIF, we also had a word in high school. Fanzer. At least that’s the way we said it although I never saw it spelled. It was used to replace a variety of short two-word phrases that also began with the letter F. Then there was a guy from the home town who made it big in tennis and became a top 25 world player. Made the US Open quarters one year. Played in the same era as McEnroe and Connors, who would throw the F word out when they got angry. This guy also threw out an F word when he was angry. It was fiddlesticks. For real. He wouldn’t curse.

Like seeing the Cardinals wearing the Navy Blue Road uniforms. IMO, a classic look.

No question about it ’64. In my view, those are far and away the best looking road uniforms worn by any team at any time. I’d almost go so far as to say I like them as much or better than the classic Redbird home whites.

Yeah, I really dig those navy blue hats. Wouldn’t mind seeing them used on an occasional home game. Not too much as the home uni’s are awesome, but maybe on ocassion, like say only on Thursday afternoon games or so thing like that.

How come Pozo never plays? Is he not on the roster anymore?

Man, tough break there on the ball hit by Nootbaar.

If we had hired Francona in 2012 instead of Matheny, I wonder if he would still be our skipper?

Obviously the Cardinals are going to have to win some games on the road this season and they could really double their pleasure by collecting a few road W’s against division rivals. If they’re going to make any hay at all this season, they’re going to have to do it against the Reds and Cubs.

That 5th inning was rough. The bunt needed to be just a little farther up the line and Pages is probably safe at third. Noot smoked the ball right at the second baseman.

Scott can cover some ground in center. Pallante pitching a good game.

Really like the way Victor is maturing. Hoping he can become a latter day left-handed Curt Flood.

That’s not at all a bad idea Bikemike. Those Navy blue caps with the home whites would be a classic Big League look. And I’d almost rather see them wearing a plaid design leisure suit than those city connect uniforms…

Yeah, the navy’s with the white homes is a good look. They wore those in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. There are some photos of Stan in that uni and it is indeed a classic look.

The Red Sox wear that style most of the time. But for some reason they occasionally wear those horrid yellow jerseys. Not sure how they ever came up with those – worse than our city connect duds.

I am okay with the city connects, but on a very limited basis.

We needed that double play in the sixth. Time to put some offense together and get some runs across.

I was not a big Pallante fan, but have changed my tune. He usually gives you a solid outing and a chance to win.
