Winn with a chance at his 1st career save…
May 17, 2025 at 8:18 pm #282512That is a winner! What great pitching and defense in this game and Walker’s solo shot was the deciding factor
May 17, 2025 at 8:18 pm #282513Defense is king tonight!
May 17, 2025 at 8:18 pm #282514Ozzie probably doesn’t decide to fall backwards while throwing the ball for no particular reason. But yeah, only Masyn makes that throw.
May 17, 2025 at 8:19 pm #282515That was a 1 hour 49 minute game. It feels like we just turned it on

jj-cf-stlParticipantO my, top shelf D tonight ✅
May 17, 2025 at 8:19 pm #282517Looking pretty good Redbird fans…That’s a 1-0 W!
May 17, 2025 at 8:20 pm #282518Come on Chip. Haha I was typing that out as he said it
May 17, 2025 at 8:22 pm #282519Miles lowered his ERA from 4.35 going into the game to 3.77. I have to give him credit he has been pitching well. Also still I have kudos to Oli for knowing when to take Mikolas out despite the pitch count.
May 17, 2025 at 8:23 pm #282520I’d like to know the last time the Cardinals recorded a W in a game in which they managed only 2 hits.
May 17, 2025 at 8:24 pm #282521Yeah 1TD 2 hits and a win is not a very common occurrence
May 17, 2025 at 8:26 pm #282522That is a series win regardless of what happens tomorrow. Taking the series against the Mets, Phillies, and Royals has been heck of a month. Maybe they can take the series from the Tigers next. The Tigers have the best record in baseball going into today.
May 17, 2025 at 8:27 pm #282523Great pitching and solid defense! Good to see Walker get the big hit! Hoping that gets him going.
May 17, 2025 at 8:28 pm #282525Is Alexa Datt standing next to a giant? Walker makes her look so tiny.
May 17, 2025 at 8:29 pm #282526Neither is that 1 hour and 49 minutes that you mentioned, Albert. It’s not even dark outside yet…Haha!
May 17, 2025 at 8:29 pm #282527I absolutely love what Contreras did there in that interview of Walker. Contreras knows that Walker needs to get his confidence up, and you can tell the natural leader in him knew what to do to get Walker inspired there and building some confidence dunking water on him 3 times. You could see Walker light up showing so much life with Contreras.
May 17, 2025 at 8:31 pm #282528Two hits and you get a win. You know things are going good when that happens.
The big difference in this club compared to recent teams is we have gotten back to our elite defense. That was the cornerstone of so many good Cardinal clubs, and we seem to have that defensive mojo again.
May 17, 2025 at 8:31 pm #282529It has to be said-it was a large strike zone tonight. But it was large for both sides and I didn’t see a lot of complaining. I don’t listen-was there any mention by the announcers?
May 17, 2025 at 8:33 pm #282530
jj-cf-stlParticipantRooney said our bench was barking on low pitches, but our bench is very vocal 😉
May 17, 2025 at 8:35 pm #282531Old school game. Played quick, only 8 strikeouts combined, and good “D”. Helsley did not even strike out anyone.
May 17, 2025 at 8:35 pm #282532Man alive, Albert, who would have thought that the Tigers would boast the best W/L record in baseball at this juncture? McLain, Mickey and Morris must be on a roll…
May 17, 2025 at 8:39 pm #2825341TD, I would not have. They were a great story last year and I expected them to compete for the AL Central title with the roster improvements, but they have really exceeded my expectations.
May 17, 2025 at 8:41 pm #282535
jj-cf-stlParticipantLolich was something else.
May 17, 2025 at 8:42 pm #282536
jj-cf-stlParticipant“It’s not even dark outside yet…”
deserves an encore
May 17, 2025 at 8:52 pm #282537Yeah, Lolich was the number one baseball villian of my youth, jj. No one thought that Mickey and the Tigers had much of a chance up against Gibson in game 7, but the unpredictable game of baseball had other ideas. I’ll never forget the feeling I had at the end of that day. The irony is that he was nice enough to have been one of several Tiger players to give me and my childhood pal an autograph as we caught the Tigers team entering the Chase Park Plaza hotel. My friend’s dad drove us down there to intercept them as they entered coming from the airport…Haha! Oh well, I got over it, but it took until 2006 to do so…
