It will be very difficult to extend the win streak to 8 with Gore on the mound. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year and his ERA is a little higher than it should be due to his BABIP. Striking out 13.30 / 9 and only walking 2.54 / 9.

I have a bad feeling Mikolas is going to give up 7-8 runs tomorrow….or is just a bad taco I ate?

Yeah, me too, but I have a good feeling we’ll push across 9…

The Reds got 10 runs in the 1st on Saturday night at Houston.

They hung on to win 13-9.

    Judge hit two more dingers.

Arenado is on pace for 12-15 homeruns.

Can’t be a trivia question ‘cuz it’s opinion but the greatest feat by a DC team (or any other team) was pitched in three consecutive games in a Weekend series in 1908. Train started on September 4, 5, and 7, and he shut out the Yankees in all 3 games!

Sorry Gibby, but your Iron man feats in 3 WS in a decade can’t hang with Walt’s Herculean steel feat

I’ve got a feeling Mikolas is going to emulate Pallante today except he’ll accept his accolades after seven innings and leave the rest of the work to the bullpen. I’m off now to prepare some chaussons au champignons (pastries stuffed with mushrooms, onions and cheese) for din din along with a glass or two of Bordeaux to wash it down before the game starts.

I am pretty confident we will not see Milolas pitch 6+. Marmol has learned to accept Mikolas has a max of 2 times through the order. Even if Mikolas is pitching very well, Marmol pulls him once the 3rd trip though the lineup occurs. It took Marmol too long to learn that last year as many times Mikolas would pitch a decent to good 5, then go out for the 6th and get shelled.

Looking around the league, Aaron Judge had another 2 HRs last night putting him in sole possession of the league lead in HRs. He is lapping the competition in terms of value delivered this year. He has been performing like peak Barry Bonds, but without the intentional walks. Barry had 120 IBB in 2004. Judge is only at 6 on the year. With the way Bellinger has been playing this year hitting behind Judge, I don’t know why opposing pitching staffs are IBB Judge at a much higher rate.

Now that Matz and Gracceffo are avaiable from the pen, it’s easier to decide we have a better 6th inning reliever than a SP losing his command. That’s not always been the case.

With Miles he needs his soft stuff for strikes, regardless of the inning or turns thru their lineup. His 88-92mph on its own doesn’t beat anyone, but if he has the 77mph strikes, he competes well.

That’s an interesting observation Machi. Could be one of two things in my mind: Bonds was hated for the creep he was by opposing managers and didn’t want to get beat by him, or the league requested teams to pitch to to Judge for the good of our faltering game

Victor Scott is the closest thing the Cardinals have had to Vince Coleman since Vince himself roamed the Cardinal outfield. I can envision a day when Scott and Winn are 1 and 2 in the Cardinal lineup terroizing opposing catchers. Whitey Herzog would like these two guys.

Taking a quick gander at the atmospheric conditions on the eastern seaboard. All seems clear. According to the Doppler Radar there is no rain in the area. This one should be played.

Not sure what the weather forecast is for Philadelphia next week.

I’m liking how the lineup looks but, as always, this run of consecutive W’s hinge’s on today’s turn of the rotation. If Mikolas fails to put forth a decent performance, the Cardinals will wish they had 9 of those runs they generated during Fedde’s CG shutout the other night. In any case, the lineup looks like a good one to me.

Contreras taters-up to make it 2-0. Need some baserunners in front these HR’s. I’ll feel comfortable when Mikolas is protecting a 7 or 8 run lead.

Winn and Herrera both drove the ball atem’. Doubles gone bad. Good contact vs Gore.

They should do it now and bat Noot cleanup.
