This is probably the only game of this Doyer series that we actually have a chance. Maybe we luck out and Gray can pitch a gem. If not, then it’s a probable sweep. The only saving grace is that the Cubs are in Detroit this weekend. And they face Skubal tonight.

And its a Cardinal Catfish Fiddler Friday! Out at the Amish restaurant by the lake. Din din will also consist of mashed potatoes/gravy, noodles, dressing, baked fish, sweet iced tea, and a piece of cherry pie and soft serve vanilla ice cream for dessert. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar out on the bench by the entrance. 8 feet from the entrance, however.

All this could change if we have some bad weather. Forecast is for a chance.

Not much action here on this thread. You would think since it’s one of the biggest series of the year that it would generate more posting.

But, perhaps it’s because everybody realizes my Catfish Fiddlers post would be too tough to compete with. As soon as I hit Enter that’s where I am heading.

p.s. the weather looks bad right now. Looks like it’s raining in and around St. Louis. But the forecast is for all clear tonight according to the Doppler Radar.

Yeah, it’s a grey and soupy day so far, but it’s my guess they’ll do everything possible to get this game in and preserve what should be a healthy gate with the return of Little Eddie and the Dodgers…Haha! I was just checking on the status of the new restaurant that was supposed to open in place of King Edward’s Catfish, who’s long time owners retired roughly 6 months ago. The new ownership which calls themselves, “Grace Chicken and Fish” was, at one time, slated to open on June 1st, but so far, no dice…I drove right by there not too long ago and the building and parking lot looked all refurbished and ready for action, so they should be frying up some food before too long. They’re probably waiting on some sort of inspection or permit. In any case, I hope they’re as good as the old place because I miss going there on Friday’s for a plate of fried Catfish, French fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. And they used to also have some really good and strong iced tea that I thought was a perfect compliment for that meal. Maybe the new owners will have a mixture of chocolate milkshake and Mountain Dew to wash down all that Catfish…Haha!

    Yeah, it’s a grey day

Let’s hope it’s a Gray night too, TD.

I miss going there on Fridays for a plate of fried catfish

You have great taste, TD. I like catfish fiddlers so much that next time I indulge too much in the ole’ Wild Turkey, I just may try a plate of Catfish Tare Tare……that’s raw catfish to the layman.

We have to be thinking taking 3 straight here to make it a 4-2 homestand. These Dodgers are sweepable. Victor Scott is going to be the key to this series. Let’s hope he’s up to the task at hand here.

Haha…I’ll stick with Catfish straight out of the deep fryer and scorching hot, Pugs, which is how they served it up at the old King Edward’s place. They’d cook it to order which would take about 20 to 25 minutes, so I’d always call in our order while we were en route to avoid the wait. Normally by the time we arrived it was almost ready to be served up and enjoyed. In any case, if they ever get underway, I hope the new joint is as good as “King Eddie’s.” No relation to Little Eddie…Haha!

Something tells me that “Grace Chicken & Fish” is going to be absolutely a round tripper…….with the sacks juiced…..enjoy.

I hope so, Pugs. They have a location in the city that’s been operating for several years. We’ve never been there, but reviews claim that they’re really good. I’ll just have to give it the ol’ taste test when the new location near to where we live opens up. I’m a little spoiled, because King Edward’s was first rate fried catfish and we’d enjoyed dining there for close to 20 years. I’m optimistic, but if they’re a disappointment I may just have to visit Rat’s location in Indiana for some top-shelf catfish…Haha!

Tonight’s Dodger pitcher sounds like a cross between an aftermarket motorcycle exhaust system and a sunken naval warship. I’m also trying to figure out how he endorses his paycheck without running out of room…

I’d love to see his (Yoshinobu Yakazatsasaki Yamamoto) autograph, TD. It would probably take him roughly 30 minutes to knock off just a handful of good paying autograph seekers at one of those team promotional events. That’s a lot of bang for their buck, so they probably charge twice as much as they normally would for his autograph. If I were Yoshinobu Yakazatsasaki Yamamoto, I’d probably sign my name “YYY”, or just scribble about 40 random unrecognizable letters, along with a big smile and I’m sure that would satisfy them.

Oily back to playing guys who aren’t even good minor league players. I’m disillusioned. Why wouldn’t you play Gorman. It’s inexplicable. This team was getting fun to watch and now this stupidity again.

Most of the rain has moved out of the St. Louis area. It’s here in SW Indiana now.

However, there is just a little bit of green stuff still hanging in and around the metro St. Louis area. Might be a delay but I doubt there is a postponement.

Love your meteorological reports, Rat. I still think you missed your calling as a nationally recognized weather reporter. Twice as huge as Willard Scott……in popularity, not physical size. Let’s play some ball shall we? I want to sweep these guys this weekend.

Rat will tell you if it’s going to be washout or not tomorrow, KeepComingBack.

Yes indeed, tonight’s Doyers/Cards game is currently in a Delay.

Not sure how long it will be before 1st pitch occurs.

Hope not too long as I want to watch the Braves/Giants from Candlestick Park.

Then afterwards an episode of Barnaby Jones.

Now it’s time to grab a glass of Mt. Dew, a cigar, and sit on the couch with Whitey Herdog and watch the DBacks/Reds and/or the Cubs/Tigers.

    Oh holy geez folks!

Both the DBacks/Reds game and the Cubs/Tigers game are those STUPID APPLE TV GAMES! And I can’t either one. And with the Doyers/Cards in a rain delay I don’t know what I am going to do???

Watching a game from Candlestick and then watching “Barnaby Jones” is a sweet combo, Rat. I think Barnaby Jones was filmed in Frisco. I know “Streets of San Francisco” certainly was. Rekindles an old memory. I spent a week during the summer in San Francisco when I was a kid. A buddy and I went to the movie theater and watched the original running of “Escape From Alcatraz” with Clint Eastwood. And then afterwards as we were walking down the street and looking out and seeing Alcatraz Island was pretty cool. That night we went to a Giants-Phillies game…….and nearly froze to death. Coldest summer ballgame I ever attended by a longshot.

Anyone have an idea what time this game will actually start up? I imagine they tweeted this info, but I’m not a X’er Twitter’er whatever you want to call it or just social media in general

Hope this game doesn’t get washed away. We need a sweep in this series and a doubleheader won’t help in that quest, as about 72% of twin bills result in splits. A little rain never hurt anyone……let’s play some ball.

MLB shows Yoshi is out and Worbleski will start for the Dodgers instead. I would halfway consider that if I were Oli for the Cards and start Matz. Gray is an incredibly regimented guy and struggles with games that are delayed as they throw off his routine.

An extra day rest wouldn’t hurt the rotation members.
