It could get better today. The Giants lead the Cubs by a score of 3-1 in the visitor half of the 5th at Wrigley. A Cubbies loss would place the Redbirds at only 3 games off the pace in the NLC.

Walker w/a 2 rbi hit. Gorman a single and walk. Baker double. All in the same game. I’ll take it.

Sweeps are fun when you’re on the right side of them. Now go have a winning road trip and we might be onto something.

Consecutive turns from the rotation that I’d term first rate with a combined 14 innings of work in which the 2 SP’ers allowed only 1 ER on a miserly 5 hits. If they can keep getting performances close to that from the 5 man the W streak could extend into July…

If Feede gets in trouble early, Matz is looking for innings now.

Five in a row! Keep it going Redbirds! Gotta do better on the road.

We are a good team in our park, and especially against a last place club. But we have been woeful in the other team’s locale.

Need to get those big hits on the road if we expect to make some noise this year.

I had almost forgotten what that warm, tingly feeling of winning and .500 baseball was like.
    Rah Cardinals!

Yeah, Bikemike, the 15-6 record says they’re better than good at home, but I’ve always contended that a team’s genuine mettle is determined by how they perform in a hostile environment and they’re currently 4-13 when playing on the road. They’ll be presented with an ideal opportunity starting Friday to demonstrate whether or not they can compete during the 81 games that they play when dining on hotel food.

Back to .500! Really great start it looks like by Gray. I had to go look up the play of Scott scoring from 1st on a single. His speed is electric.

With 2 of the 3 series against teams over .500 I’d say getting 4 wins would be quite the accomplishment.

Around this time last year the team was 8-9 under .500. Maybe they are warming with the weather.

They sure were, Booyah. I just looked it up and they fell to 9 under .500 and 9 games off the pace in the NLC after a loss at Milwaukee on 5-11-24. That was the low water mark and they never really recovered to establish themselves as a legitimate contender in the division.

This is confusing, haha! Crazy things can happen when guys start thinking they are pretty good.

Yeah, thinking you’re just as good or better than the other guy goes a long way towards making that thought a reality. “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
