Robinson was a hell of a player that helped his team win a ton of games.

That is a lot different than what is going on today.

    Interesting article.

I will say that MLB should probably not involve themselves in political issues of they do not want to be involved in political tug of wars.

Just play ball, stay in your lane, and take care of YOUR business.

What exactly does the anti-trust exemption allow MLB to do that would dramatically change if they lost it?

I should probsbly know this but I don’t.

Would it be really, really bad if they lose it?

    15/162 = 9.26%

All teams, probably including the ’27 Yankees, had a 15 game (10% of the season) stretch of 7-8 with very average hitting & pitching.

No, I’m not comparing the current Cardinal team to ANY all-time great team, or even a solid playoff team at this point – that would not end well.

All I’m saying is that if the team can scrap and scramble and stay at or around .500 – then they will keep themselves in position to have enough players ‘figure it out’ and may be add a couple of guys at mid-season to shore up the line up.

I was guilty of throwing in the towel on the 2019 team in early August – they figured it out and made the playoffs – even got to the NLCS.

    You just never know…

I think Flaherty is the real deal, after that though…… just close your eyes, lol.

Carpenter is officially a waste of a roster spot at this point.

Surely they cannot keep running him out there much longer….

Sad ending to what was a really, really, really great Cardinal career.

Lets get to the end of May and see what it looks like.

I saw that the starting pitching’s ERA is dead last in MLB.

That is killing the bull pen as the starters are getting yanked early and often.

KK will probably help, Mikolas may never help – hard to say with him coming back after the surgery and missing so much time.

The outfield is a disaster so far – no other way to say it.

Carpenter just needs to go away at this point.

Again, less than 10% of the season has been played so everything is magnified at this point.

If the team still looks like hot garbage in 6 weeks then yeah, pile on.

Very odd move unless there is a minor injury to Thomas involved.

Hurst has done nothing at the plate – ever – to earn this call up.

It’s currently a clown show in StL right now BUT no one is running away with the division and not even 10% of the season has been played….

Certainly a whole lot more questions than answers so far but still early days.

I still look at 2021 as a figure out what we have season for the outfield and for starting pitching.

Hopefully by the ASG all questions have been answered.

I don’t see both of Molina and Wainwright coming back for ’22.

Will likely have to pick up 1 outfielder and 1 or 2 starting piychers via trades / free agency.

    Bullpen and infield seem ok.

I’ve always believed that you don’t usually know what you have with a team until the end of May.

I’m in the Nashville area and the Xfinity guide will list the Cards game on Fox but what get is the Reds.

At least that’s how it’s been the past few years.

Ill just be using this site to keep tabs on the Cardinals moving forward.

I won’t spend another dime on MLB – will be foregoing the Extra Innings package this year. I will monitor the Cardinals through this site but will not watch a single inning until they quit taking political sides.

Well, that didn’t go well but, as I like to say, you really won’t know what you’ve got until around the end of May.

I do not want politics mixed in with my entertainment.

Jackie Robinson was a helluva ball player = winning games.

MLB seems to have no issues doing business with communist Cuba and China who’s human rights record = Nazi Germany.

Moving the All-Star game is very, very disingenuous. Period. End of story.

Maybe Carpenter is getting a 4-6 week ‘last chance for romance’ window based on his contract and his long, long history with the club.

If he continues to hit as he has been then I expect him to get ‘injured’ and move from DL to DL for the rest of the season.

I’d rather have someone else on the roster too but there are a lot of factors in play with Carpenter.

Probably won’t know what’s up until the end of May.

I’d bet on 3-5 roster changes by then not counting any made due to injury.

I think the defense will be about the same (very good), the pitching will be about the same, and the offense will be somewhat better (at least ML average).

So, in the NL Central that should lead to challenging for, if not winning a somewhat average division.

You never know but I would think that, on paper the NL Central will not produce wildcards this season – but, hell who can say in March?

I hope Bader does not push this and try to come back too soon.

That would likely lead to this becoming a season long ‘nagging’ injury…..

I think Carp should get some lingering tendonitis this season but hang around with the team as an extra coach.

Cards win the Central with 90 wins.

The starting pitching is decimated by injuries as usual.

A lot of personnel questions are answered in 2021 setting the 2022 marching orders for the front office.

Bader hits just enough to stick.

Cardinals win a playoff series and lose in the NLCS – 2022 will be their year.

Carpenter has been a great Cardinal and I’d like to see him have a proper farewell.

Maybe give him a month on the roster then he retires and finishes the year with an ‘injury’ but gets to stay with the team? Almost like having an extra coach?

As for the outfield & rotation issues: give that 6 weeks to sort itself out with the current assets. After that they should know exactly what they need and could then look to acquire players from outside the organization.

If these guys go get their work in and excel at AA and AAA then they WILL get their shot to prove whether they are major leaguers or AAAAers.
