Well, I predicted the Giants would stomp us on Monday. Turns out we won. Then I predicted our birds had shot their offensive wad and would fall on Tuesday. We won again. It would seem I’m not such a hot predicter. Dare I betray my gut and predict a win today? Would that jinx us? Or should I call it another loss and we end up sweeping? I think the best move is I abandon the predicting business in favor of a discreet silence.

But I hope we crush the Large Men today. Rah Cardinals!

On the din-din front, the grand kids disdain fancy schmancy exquisite sauce kinda stuff in favor of a more down to earth cuisine, consequently, by popular vote, Wednesday is going to be meatballs, macaroni and salad, and if there’s still room, a dish of I Scream.

By any chance could the Cubs lose their 12th straight tonight? That couldnt happen, now, could it?????

Din-din today is the weekly trip to the Amish restaurant. Chicken, fish, meatloaf, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, dressing, noodles, baked carrots. For dessert the apple stuff, not pie or cobbler, not sure what you call it. Along with cherry cobbler and some chocolate soft serve ice cream.

Not one….not two …but three Gasthof desserts for Rat today to more than make up for Rat uncharacteristically refraining from dessert yesterday. Rat deserting dessert for even one din-din is rarer than an Oviedo victory. Good show, Rat!
Speaking of Oviedo, or “Ovi”, as Euro Dandy fondly refers to him, should go 6 frames strong tonight, as our Birds complete the sweep. Many have left their heart in San Francisco, but Ovi will have left his winless streak there. I’m calling this one 11-4 Cardinals, as our boys flex their muscles to the tune of not one round tripper…..not two…..not three…not four…..but five haul out the tape measure dingers.

And Cardinal In France needs to send those young ones a packing back to the States, so he can return to din-din normalcy.

Pugs, I haven’t seen you mention the game thread beer limit lately. Is that still a thing? Haven’t been watching so much this year, but got into it a little last night. Think I’ll do it again tonight while enjoying a nice beverage. On second thought, the mere mention of CIF has me thinking I’ll just sip a little Cognac instead of a brewski. Dinner will be baby back ribs and green beans.

Oh yeah, getting older kinda sucks, but it ain’t all bad. I just found out my daughter is pregnant. Hopefully, wifey and I will be seeing our first grandchild in about 38 weeks.

Not so hasty with anointing Cardinal In France as Dean of Din-Dins any longer, Euro Dandy. Those grandkids of his have him dishing up a steady diet of crispy chicken dinosaur dippers, alphabet pizza and mickey mouse pancakes. This very well could result in a cuisinal funk that CIF could find himself mired in for months after the kiddies finally hit the road.

Game thread beer limit remains no more than one 12 ounce brewski per each inning played, Euro. Extra innings result in extra beer privileges, as those limits swell to two 12 ouncers per extra inning played. We will not at this point reveal how Brian does it, but Game thread beer limit offenders are quickly apprehended and given 2 week posting bans on any and all game threads. Go Birds!

UPDATE: The din-din today at the Amish restaurant also included a bowl of Chili.

And deGrom has given up two homeruns in five innings to the Brewers. That raises his ERA to 1.10 on the year. Good luck at beating Gibson’s 1.12.

2-1 Milwaukee heading to the Met 5th.

Kansas City leads Cincinnati 2-0 after the 4th.

    UPDATE

Milwaukee loses Game One of the DH to the Mets at Shea Stadium. Mets get a run in the last of the 7th to tie and then plate two runs in the last of the 8th to win it. 4-3 New York the final.

Reds lead the Royals 4-2 after eight. Dozier just left the bases loaded with two outs in the last of the 8th at Kaufman Stadium.

    UPDATE

Reds go on to win over Kansas City by the score of 5-2.

They now begin seven straight games against the Brewers. Four in Milwaukee at County Stadium this Thursday thru Sunday. And then after the All Star Break they have three in Cincinnati at Crosley Field. This might determine their season. They win most of these games they are right there. They lose most of these games and they are almost ten games out.

Keep in mind on the beer limit everyone, pregame is unlimited. So like I did last Friday around the Coors Field faithful, I took advantage of the pregame festivities and enjoyed a few before having to maintain the one-per-inning limit once “Play ball” is yelled out by the home plate umpire.

Like CIF, I called this one a sweep by the Bay City club. I am happy to see our guys show some life, but will stick to my prior forecast and say no way we can take the series finale. Your unhappy final will be 8-1 San Fran.

However, I like this lineup better than recent ones we have put out there. Hope Sosa gets three hits again.

Oh, and on the topic of brewskies, saw a great t-shirt in the stadium last Friday night. A guy’s t-shirt read “In dog beers, I have only had one”. 😀🍺

That or the clams, Wooster. Is there one of Rat’s Gasthof restaurants in SF?
Rat’s cast iron gut can take whatever the Gasthof can dish out. But O’Neill…..not so much I bet.

Well Pugs it seems like Rats spends alot of time in that Gasthoff or the Amish resturant. Must be spending alot of time at the buffet bar getting his moneys worth! My kinda guy though getting the I Scream last! Giants got a winning pitcher tonight but a left hander. Got a good chance tonight since they’re on a roll now. Go Cardinals!

Cubs plate three runs in the 1st and lead the Phillies 3-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd at Wrigley.

After losing the first game of the DH the Brewers lead 3-0 in the 6th in the 2nd game at Shea Stadium.

Wanted to mention the Appy League has “Thirsty Thursdays”. All home teams sell beer or soda for $1 each. Cannot attest to the size of the drinks.

My 8-1 loss prediction got some additional money flowing in after the announcement of minus O’Neill, plus DeJong.

That us a big net minus for the offense. The game might end up 8-0.

A comment on Oviedo. Saw him Friday night. He is a big dude. I like the guy and think he will eventually be a solid mid-rotation starter. He should be plying his trade at Memphis, but is learning on the job.

Still hold on to the Mike Torrez comp with this guy. As his control improves, he will be tougher to face.
