Pitching staff has allowed 4 runs or less last 9 games….this next road trip should be interesting with the Mets and Braves….so far they have not been real good on the road at 1-5.
Saggese is a player to watch to see if he can keep hitting

April 3, 2025 at 5:08 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #6 thread – vs. Angels, Wednesday, April 2 #278655My thought on this series with the Angels…don’t walk the lead off man in extra innings.

March 30, 2025 at 5:47 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #3 thread – vs. Twins, Sunday, March 30 #278405Defense really solid this opening series….lot of good defensive plays, only 1 error by Fedde on a throw.
Bullpen 1 earned run in 11 innings
Starters were solid….Fedde with the best start of the 3
He needs to stay healthy and make consistent contact, those comps to Ohtani and Soto are just nonsense, but potentially he can be a very productive player. He also is on a cheap deal and only 27. Not someone they should be looking to trade but to keep developing
the Dbacks took around a $47 million bath on Montgomery….he made $25mill last year and was awful but made 10 starts so his $22.5 million option vested for this year which he smartly exercised only to be out the full year.
It looks like they shaved off around $45 million from 2024’s MLB team (MLB Roster- 26 players) payroll to this year according to Spotrac.
March 26, 2025 at 12:25 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #1 thread – vs. Twins, Thursday, March 27 #278037According to the Athletic the Twins ownership has $425 million in Debt tied to the team, and they are not getting a lot of buyers at their $1.7 Billion asking price…sounds like the fans are not real happy with their Ownership either.
Willit’s is pretty interesting b/c he reclassified to be in this draft….should just be a Junior in high school, he seems to be moving up in some mocks. His brother is the current shortstop for OU.

Giants sold 10% of team to private equity firm
The San Francisco Giants have sold a stake in the franchise to a private equity group, the team announced Tuesday.
Sixth Street has purchased about 10 percent of the Giants with the team aiming to use the influx of capital to help pay for upgrades to the franchise’s 25-year-old stadium and other facilities, as well as the Mission Rock real estate development adjacent to the ballpark, The New York Times reported Tuesday morning.
Liberatore, Romero, leahy, O’Brien, Munoz and Fernandez have been strong this spring so far out of the pen.
I think Liberatore is interesting if they could dump Matz, I may give him another shot as a starter, but they may not want to mess with him since he has had success out of the bullpen.
Yankees may be in the market for a starting pitcher
While its early, kind of under the radar JoJo Romero has been lights out this spring…hopefully this post is not the kiss of death and he gives up 10 runs his next time out
Underwhelming is an understatement 29 total hits in the last 6 spring training games….(11 of those came in 1 game against the Marlins)
5 hits in the last 18 innings is not exactly bringing much excitement
but…Its still early (till it gets too late)
76.5 is the current over/under Team wins for the Cardinals this year in Vegas
I am not seeing it with Gorman, I think he will make the team out of spring unless he goes 0 for spring….but in his 23 games at Memphis last year he hit .205
He had 365 AB’s at St. Louis and hit .203 last year
You could live with his 2023 performance where he hit 27 HR’s at a .236 AVG, but there was some real regression last year and they really don’t know if he can play 3rd. Hopefully he turns it around, they definitely need him and Walker to produce.
From what I read the Fan Duel/Bally TV deal was a $24 million reduction year over year…but they could make some of that up with the streaming package. They were in line to get $75 million but b/c of Bally going bankrupt they signed a new deal with them in November of 2024 for $51 million a year.
Any loss in attendance Management should own that…for neglecting player development and then whatever they are doing with putting together a team for this year that seems to be underwhelming and not exciting the fanbase with ticket sales.
For the last 25 plus years they have been in the top 7 in attendance in MLB and most of those years top 3 in attendance for MLB
Way Dewitt is trying to cut payroll you would think the Cardinals were at the bottom of MLB in attendance….though they may be after this year
They are calling the shots and lining their pockets
I could care less about Dewitt getting salary releif….he got $38 million this year and will be getting close to $40 million next year even if they keep Arenado.
I haven’t seen any evidence he has put that money back into the team or development outside of hiring some xtra coaches
