Eddie Vedder has a home less than a mile from Wrigley. Coincidentally, one of my best friends lives right next door. I’ve been there, but never met Eddie. He has a performing stage built on the roof of his garage. Anyway, he likes Waino, though not as much as the Cubs.

BTW, we mentioned Flaherty going to the Dodgers recently, and I had commented that I saw him pitch for Detroit in Cleveland in late July. His catcher that night was Carson Kelly.

Anyone hear anything about Alex Reyes? I thought he would be back from injury by now and trying to hook up with any team. The last I saw he was a free agent. So much talent, but couldn’t stay on the field very long.

My guess is that Reyes will never be back from injury. Too bad.

Wow, haven’t thought about Matt Bowman for awhile.

Man, a real shame that Reyes was so derailed by injuries. He had a half season of success as our closer, and then once again the injuries came in to play.

Maybe a bit of a latter day Herb Score – tons of talent but a twist of fate resulted in a “what if?” Scenario. (My tablet won’t let me use a lower case “s”)

Score had more success, and really got a tough break. But Alex looked to be finally on his way there for a few months.

I would love to have O’Campo back in the organization. I had some email exchanges with him back in the day and he couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful

I had positive experiences with him, as well. Not sure how many more AGMs they need, though… They already have three plus Girsch, who in my view is more of a super-AGM. Banks and vice presidents come to mind…

I’ve been sitting there when a media member has a hot topic he wants to write about so he badgers the manager with the same questions repeatedly. it can get pretty uncomfortable. The best part here is when the writer asks Shildt if it would have been better if he’d had a 5-0 lead…

The proper question would have been, “What did you think of Kingman’s performance?”

I’m Indianapolis at the in-laws this weekend and went to the Indians game. Gallegos pitched for St. Paul. He had some velocity back it looked like, command still was spotty. DH for Indian’s was Malcolm Nunez.

More small sample on Dylan Carlson – his OPS+ as a Ray is now 161, and he got the game winning hit for them last night, batting left handed even.

Way too soon to tell if he has turned the corner, but give a younger player with skills some confidence, and who knows.

Here’s the thing about Carlson. He’s a good player all around. Solid bat to ball skills. Some limited power. Average defense. He could have easily been a 3 WAR player for the Cardinals. The problem was that every time the Cardinals had an opening for him to play, he was either hurt or got hurt soon after. And every time he was healthy, the Cardinals had moved on to someone else. At times they buried him for no good reason. I’m not sure he’ll ever be an all-star, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him have 3 or 4 seasons in a row as a slightly better than average player.

Edman making his Dodger debut tonight, batting 9th playing CF. Had a good 6 games at AAA before tonight.

Edman was assigned #25 for LAD, last worn by Kolten Wong last year.

Jason Hayward collected $210M primarily because of the hype he received. Collecting that kind of money, and extending his career so long, tend to devalue player evaluation and scouting in general, IMO. There are some parallels between Hayward and a current Cardinal, IMO.
