Is that Helsley’s second blown save of the year?

Two run homer against Helsley in the top of the ninth. Tie game.

Cardinals need to score here, as they’ve already exhausted the “good half” of the pen…

Yes, Helsley was 4-for-5 in save opps before today.

Helsley should give the win back to Gray.

I didn’t expect that one to go to the bottom of the 9th, but what a way to end the game.

Contreras is definitely the leader of the team. Just watching him in the dugout and field today he is giving pointers to other players. Very energetic guy as well.

Didn’t get to watch, but I see that Arenado pulls Helsley and the team out of the fire. Meanwhile, the Nootz leads the team in RBI’s from the lead-off slot.

To me , the best we have right now is Donovan. Old time Cardinal attitude and will beat you however he can.

Last night’s box had the gate at 24K. Today’s claimed 35K. Did the grandstands look that much better today?

Attribution of wins, losses, saves, blown saves, and holds seem to be anomalous at times. It used to annoy me, but I guess it’s hard to come up with better criteria since they haven’t done it. The good and bad attributions probably even out somewhat in the long run.

Goldschmidt looks to be having a decent start. He’s tied for second in the Big Leagues with 36 hits and places third in BA at .364, however he’s only has 1 HR, scored 12 runs and collected 9 RBI’s. Meanwhile, Judge leads the universe in everything.

If they win tomorrow a chance to go 8-8 in their last 16, against pretty good competition…Astros, Phils, Mets, Braves and Brew Crew

Considering they are just short of awful on the road that’s decent in those 16

Those 4 games at the Mets were a killer. We see them for 3 at home next Friday.

With a six man rotation will Sonny Gray start the Friday night game against the Mets?

I assume Matz will start the Thursday afternoon game at Crosley Field in Cincinnati against the Reds.

No way there were that many there. Maybe at absolute most 25K. Most of the upper decks were empty. The lower levels had a good amount of people, but you could still see a lot of empty seats.

I watched Friday night’s game and it looked noticeably scant. I suspected the actual clicks of the turnstile gates were probably 10K less than the 24K indicated in the Friday game box score. I was just surprised to see that the gate indicated in the box from Saturday afternoon’s game was inflated by 11K from Friday night. In any case, attendance is obviously suffering and, in my experience, the only remedy is W’s.

Yesterday’s spike in attendance means the Cardinals are now on track to have just over 2.3 million in ticket sales, down 575,000 from last year. That is a 20% decline from last year and a 35% decline from Busch Stadium III’s peak.

The weather was fantastic for an outing yesterday. The nacho munchers probably had no clue and little care how the team was doing this season. The bronze bust walking it off must have been glorious. Think how many $15 cups of beer must have gotten spilled.

The attendance at the Battlehawks game last night was 30,604.
