Arenado with a chance to do what he’s paid to do.
April 19, 2025 at 5:12 pm #2798831TD, I think it is either Baker or Burly that goes down. Most likely Baker since Saggase is also a RH batter.
April 19, 2025 at 5:13 pm #279884“What the Cards really need is one of Walker, Gorman, or Burly to actually develop into a true #4 or #5 hitter.”
They’re all three still swinging at the exact same garbage pitches they’ve been swinging at for the past 3 years — no sign, not even a scrap of improvement in pitch selection by any of them, that I can see. Burly swung at a 3-2 pitch that was 8-10 inches above the strikezone. With two men on base and the pressure ALL on the opposing twirler, Gorman nevertheless offered at multiple terrible pitches when ahead in the count.
That AB encapsulated Nolan’s ongoing awful plate approach: when he should’ve been at his most selective (ahead in the count 2-0), he instead behaved like a batter in an 0-2 hole. Disgraceful display that reflects poorly on Gorman, Brant Brown, and the entire organization, really. You hear about “professional at-bats”? That was the opposite of one.
April 19, 2025 at 5:13 pm #279885Another really good start by Liberatore today. He has been pitching very efficiently and going deep into games giving the team a chance.
April 19, 2025 at 5:14 pm #279886Lindor hurts us with the mitt today.
April 19, 2025 at 5:14 pm #279887I called that. As soon as Burly stepped up, I told my wife Burly will swing at the 1st pitch and hit a weak ground ball. Burly just does not take good PAs as he swings at everything. Just throw him a ball down in the zone and he hits it weakly into the ground
April 19, 2025 at 5:17 pm #279888I thought that GB might bleed thru to the OF, Albert, but I should have known Lindor would make that play for the third out.
April 19, 2025 at 5:18 pm #279889Lindor did make a great play to take away a hit, but it was still a weakly hit GB. I just get frustrated watching Burly since he swings at everything and everyone in the park knows if it is a strike he swings no matter if it is hittable.
April 19, 2025 at 5:19 pm #279890Alonso with a bomb
April 19, 2025 at 5:27 pm #279891I don’t have a lot of confidence that the Cardinals can score 4 runs in their half of the 9th inning to pull this one out the fire. If they don’t, this road trip could get really ugly by the time the Cardinals leave ATL. next week.
April 19, 2025 at 5:39 pm #279892There’s no reason to be mad when this bunch loses. Bad team bad manager. Im just trying to focus on the positives. Today it’s Lib. Maybe he, Donovan, Noot, Herrera, Scott, maybe Walker will be part of something good. Pallante.
April 19, 2025 at 5:43 pm #279893Adolis Garcia just walked off the Dodgers. A two run dong in the last of the 9th off of Yates. 4-3 Rangers the final.
Ohtani on maternity leave.
April 19, 2025 at 6:02 pm #279897Liberatore did fine. The rest of the outfit could only produce three hits and a bunch of zeros. Gorman looked particularly lost, shifting a lot of air around at the plate.
April 19, 2025 at 6:09 pm #2798981-8 on the road…..may need a Willie Nelson exorcism
April 19, 2025 at 6:16 pm #279902You called it like it is, KCB. They should win a few games when they face some of the second division teams, but they simply don’t look as though have the horses or the leadership to consistently compete against teams like the Mets. I’ll be highly surprised if the Cardinals aren’t subjected to the 4 game sweep tomorrow at the hands of a good baseball team that will take the field in an attempt to administer the proverbial the coup de gras to a wounded animal. Then, they head to ATL. for 3 games…
April 19, 2025 at 6:18 pm #279903Haha!…”Willie Nelson exorcism”
April 19, 2025 at 7:16 pm #2799040-8 with RISP. The problem is they didn’t throw us a meatball when we needed it. I guess that’s what Bob was talking about. Everybody who comes up from the Cardinals system has a swing optimized to launch meatballs. The problem being that’s their only swing.
April 19, 2025 at 7:25 pm #279905Thats right bling. All they want to do is slug, slug, and SLUG!
The hitting coach, Brant Brown, says there is a time to hit and a time to slug. So far all I have seen is slug, slug, SLUG!
With two strikes all they want to do is slug, slug, and SLUG!

jj-cf-stlParticipantNice job Libby
April 19, 2025 at 7:45 pm #279907I forgot Saggese. I think he has possibilities. Probably his ceiling is a starter on a poor or average team. But eventually we need guys to fill in who can do something to help win a game here and there when a guy goes down. Right now all we got is one dimensional guys who aren’t doing good at their diminsion.
April 19, 2025 at 8:02 pm #279908The Cardinals are 0-4 in extras and 0-4 in one run games. And if that isn’t enough of an ill-fated omen, the Cardinals have now played 9 games on the road and are 1-8 in those games this season. The solitary game they’ve won while playing on the road was against the last place Pirates. I don’t mean to be a gloomy Gus, but those aforementioned facts look like a harbinger for a genuine disaster.
