I was sceptical of Pallante but he’s been good the last two years as a starter. He’s not an ace but he keeps the Cardinals in games.
Yeah, I’ve never seen them wear that navy cap/home whites combo in my time as a fan, but now that you mention the photos of Musial, I recall having seen a couple of them. In my time as a Redbird fan I most closely connect the road/navy combo with the LaRussa era. They almost always wore those on the road during a time when those great teams had a noticable swagger. They’d arrive into almost any other NL team’s ballpark with an air of confidence that said, “We’re in town for 3 or 4 games and we play for keeps…Get ready to lose”…Haha! Those were some really formidable Cardinal teams. Nobody wanted to play us.
Nice throw by Walker to complete that double play. I still believe he will be an above average right fielder eventually.
They wear the Blue caps on Sunday at home. Those are the alternate caps.
I do miss the blue caps for the road but they pretty much only wear them when they play a team with red on the caps.
Pretty sure it used to be only the Reds and Nats. Also, don’t those Sunday home alternates have a redbird stitched on them in place of the StL?
Yeah, the Sunday home hats are the blue with red bill, and the Cardinal bird logo.
Man, need to win some of these road games. This series is already looking bad as with a loss today, and a pretty big pitching mis-match in the Reds favor tomorrow we could be down 0-2.
Only manage to push across 1 run across thru 8 innings and now only have 3 outs to score 3 runs to win. It’s never easy.

One run in Cincinnati. That’s pitiful at a hitters park. And that run scored perhaps because the leftfielder lost the ball in the sun.

This is really bad baseball. It’s almost painful to watch this St. Louis team. Not sure how much more of this slug, slug, slug mentality I can take without vomiting.
When I glance at the standings in the early going and notice that 2 of the 3 teams that the Cardinals are currently looking up at in the NLC are named Counsell and Francona, I’m not real optimistic. Then, when I glance at the Cardinal post game presser and hear the current Redbird manager talk…Well, I say bad words.

I thought he got a raw deal when they threw him to the wolves in ’22, but I’ve come close to concluding that Contreras has been a genuine bust for the money the Cardinals are paying him.
I have a great idea, let’s send out second best average hitter (Saggese) down so we can see Gorman and Walker flail away even more!

This was a middle of the night game (for me) that I’m glad I didn’t see. Who needs the aggro of watching Gorman and Walker struggle with Mendoza?

Nootbaar’s job is to get on base which he is doing. But once he establishes success at the top of the order they will move him. That’s the new Cardinal Way.
I don’t understand why they keep running Pages out there with his .633 OPS, when Pozo has an .899 OPS and just has that look of a hitter.
Small sample sizes, but come on man, go with the hot hand. Not to mention Saggese who showed some spark. Again small sample size, but I look at Saggese and Gorman, and Saggese just has the look of a ballplayer. Gorman looks over-matched, and has a “deer in the headlights” look about him a lot of times.
His power is certainly appealing, but he looks like he will be more the Rob Deer (in the headlights) type than Jeff Kent.
