Braves last year go out and get Pederson Soler and Rosario and Duval and they win it all! Maybe that made there chemistry better but it sure as heck made there team way better! We haven’t done anything close to that since at least 2011 and probably since Holiday! I’m just so frustrated at this point! Every year out competition makes themselves better at the deadline and we make some penny Anny move and try to say it was great! Tired of it really!

Texascard, so well put! Now that Soto has for to the Padres I’m gonna vent a little! This team is not good enough to win a WS! We are closer to mediocre than really good and these constant low rent moves at the deadline do nothing to change that! Our FO has realized that as long as we stay in the hunt for the last couple of playoff spots people will pay attention to us! We have watched while the other power teams in NL Braves Dodgers Mets and Padres make huge acquisitions! Why do they do this? To try and win a championship! Someone on here earlier said they were glad we were out of Soto chase because it would cost us Jordan Walker! Are you serious? Soto is a generational player and only 23! We are more likely to win the lottery or be struck by lightning than it is that Walker is anywhere as good as Soto! I am 62 and a Cardinal for life but this current group has no chance of winning it all! All we are doing is spinning our wheels while other teams make trades to try and win titles! I hope one day we will really reach out at deadline and do something! Haven’t really done that since Matt Holiday! I just hope Goldschmidt and Arenado don’t get tired of waiting and opt out or ask for trade!

I think you’ll see how Matz is better when Quintana starts pitching for us. Just don’t see him as a positive! He will do okay against poor teams and get lit up by anybody we are fighting for playoff spots! Hope I’m wrong but that’s what I’m thinking!

Time will tell of course but I would take Matz healthy over Quintana every day of the week!if this is all we do the deadline has been another dismal failure!

Totally agree with 82 Willie and blingboy! We have or had guys on our team already
Oviedo, Thompson, Woodford or Liberatore I would rather give the starts to than Quintana! You could argue if these 4 aren’t better than Quintana we need to ship the 4 of them somewhere for a real starting pitcher!

I hope your right but just don’t see it and do agree this won’t help us catch anybody! If we do happen to squeeze into the playoffs as a 6 seed I truly doubt you’ll see either one of these pitchers pitch in a high level situation! We do need a 5th starter but at his best Quintana will give 5 or 6 innings and that gives out bullpen way too many innings to get a win! But again hope your right!

I find it hard to believe anyone thinks this trade makes us any better than we were before! It just doesn’t!

Based on the year so far I doubt we are gonna fix any bullpen pitcher! If we can fix bullpen pitchers we have 6 or 7 on our roster we should start with! I hate this trade! Quintana was good 5 years ago is a rental and has no upside! Stratton should for right in with out bullpen studs! Oviedo is clearly the best arm in trade and we are giving him away! This always what Mo comes up with at trade deadline! People hoping for Montas or Soto or Syndegard and we get Quintana! This makes me feel zero better about our chances this year!

Great recipe for success today! 8 innings from starter and then Helsley! Anyone else from the bullpen scares me! Getting only 5 or 6 from our starters is almost a death knell for us these days with guys like Carbera and Naughton! Hope Romero and some other new toys can come in and help!

We need to put Cabrera on a pitch count! 0 would be good!

And that is why I always change the station when Cabrera comes in! If he is good one game it guarantees that he will be terrible the next!

This bullpen is in deep trouble! Helsley is great but we are giving up chunks of runs between the starter and the 9th inning! It starts to look like nobody out there is any good!

I just lowered my head when I saw they were gonna send Gallegos out for the 9th! How can the manager, who is right there and sees it so closely not feel it too! It’s ridiculous! Just flat have this game away!

This loss goes to Marmol! Left Hernandez in way too long! Sending Gallegos out for the 9th! How about Thompson anyone! Geez Louise!

Why do we keep sticking Gallegos out there again and again! He can’t do it! Hello!

This team is on life support! They look like they know they can’t hit when they go to bat! Even Edman had that look tonight! We in a little trouble here!

Don’t know what is wrong with this team but there is something wrong! We have two guys who would be in the top 5 for MVP is season ended today, a great bullpen, decent starting pitching and only a couple games above 500! Our parts are much better than our total! We are lucky the Brewers have not run away like last year, but I think if we don’t win the division we won’t make the playoffs! Maybe our problems are above players? We should be better!

Continuing to play DeJong is a bad joke! How many terrible at bats is gonna be enough! I just don’t get it! Cut him, bring Gorman up move Edman to SS and let’s move on! Is DeJong married to Mozliek’s daughter? That’s they only thing that makes sense to me!

This Dejong thing is getting so old! How many at bats do you need to see to k ow he can’t do it! I mean a steady decline for 4 years! 197 last year! It just makes no sense! Sosa has almost as many hits in one start than Dejong does on the other 11 games! Enough already! We have better options! Sosa or bring Gorman up and let Edmund play SS! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a surer out in Cardinal history! Let’s move on!

I have said for awhile now that I view Mo and his lack of effective signings recently as the primary reason for the Cardinals lack of playoff success recently and now we have basically made him the manager by proxy! Obviously Schildt had the guts to stand up and say he didn’t agree with Mo and look what happened to him! I think this is a very scary time for Cardinal nation! I hope I am wrong but I think things are gonna get worse before they get better! Eventually someone above him will figure out Mo is the problem, not the ones below him!

I am not a Shildt fan but don’t dislike him either! What bothers me is the idea doing the firing (Mo) is the one who needs replacing! We haven’t signed a decent free agent in forever! Fowler and Miller show how bad we have missed and those were Mo picks! I convinced the cards will not win big again until it is Mo being replaced for philosophical differences!

This was the last game for me! We have the same problems over and over and never really have a plan! Finally, they benched DeOut about 2 months too late! It is a rudderless ship and the top must be fixed before the results on the field will start being better! Looking forward to next year with DeOut, Carpenter, Miller and Martinez! We should be better by subtraction but with out front office who knows! Will be back on next season!

Maybe one day when he grows up and gets some better coaches Alex Reyes will learn you can’t walk batter after batter and not pay a high price! He does it over and over and lately it has destroyed this team!
