1:15 p.m.
RHP Jordan Hicks (1-2, 3.00) vs. RHP Zach Davies (1-1, 5.40)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
Also BSSO and BSSW+April 30, 2022 at 5:22 pm #183975As I’ve said from Day One, our lineup construction is terrible. Hopefully Marmol finally realizes the team isn’t hitting and changes things up for this one. I’d hate to lose 3 of 4 to the lowly D’Backs.

April 30, 2022 at 9:21 pm #183993The Reds DFA’d Aristides Aquino. I am going to assume some team will take a chance on him. He was really good for a couple of months back in 2019.
And in case anyone is interested, I sure hope we do not.

May 1, 2022 at 11:03 am #184011Doppler Radar shows no green stuff in the area. This one should be good to go.
And I am anxious to see today’s lineup. Hopefully there will be some changes.
Oh, and the Reds lost again last night at Colorado. They are now 3-18. One never knows but this could be a historic bad season in the Queen City.

May 1, 2022 at 11:42 am #1840121. Tommy Edman (S) 2B
2. Harrison Bader (R) CF
3. Tyler O’Neill (R) LF
4. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B
5. Albert Pujols (R) 1B
6. Corey Dickerson (L) DH
7. Dylan Carlson (S) RF
8. Andrew Knizner (R) C
9. Paul DeJong (R) SSMay 1, 2022 at 12:02 pm #184014Pardon me, I almost forgot.
Sunday afternoon din-din will consist of baked bar-b-q chicken, beef & noodles, a Mt. Dew, and a bowl of chocolate ice cream. All whilst I sit on the couch with Whitey Herdog, about the time of the first pitch. Then afterwards one, maybe two, 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars.
I sure hope O’Neill does something this year. I am afraid last year was his career year and he’s not going to get close to .286/34 like he did last year. And DeJong is playing his way out of St. Louis. There’s simply no doubt about that.

ParticipantWell I guess one way to improve your offense is to sit your hottest hitter, goldy, reinsert one of your weaker hitters, dejong. A scheduled day off. Far as lineup construction, marmol has constantly changed the lineup. He’s hardly ever put the same lineup out there. Which I don’t personally like. I understand you got to get some guys at bats but I’m a fan of consistent lineups. If a guy is consistently showing he isn’t doing the job, bench him, give someone else a chance but not just one game. Sosa should be getting more starts, don’t care what pauly is making. But right now too many guys are struggling, they need to get it going.

ParticipantJust saw marmol owned up for not taking mikolas out after 7 last night. Nice to see. Managers don’t always do that.
May 1, 2022 at 1:02 pm #184020Well, that’s an interesting lineup. All I can say is why not. Nothing else seems to be working lately. Though I’m afraid, sadly, I’ve joined the “it’s time to give up on deJong” movement. Let’s just go ahead and do whatever it is we’re going to do and get on with it. Let’s win one tonight. Rah Cardinals!
Tonight wifey and I enjoyed a monkfish mauresque with boiled potatoes and a salad. And I’m about to make myself a strawberry sundae as I await first pitch.
May 1, 2022 at 1:04 pm #184021Let’s go now boys. Let’s bring that energy now boys. Let’s go on ahead and salvage this series now.
May 1, 2022 at 1:14 pm #184022When you go cheap knowing your OF is questionable, you reap what you sow. Was easy to see this outfield was full of question marks. You go out and get a star, then your weakest link becomes the 4th man. This is turning into 70’s Cardinal baseball. Put just enough into the team that you keep the fans coming. 19th in outfielder spending. The list of teams below us is very weak.
May 1, 2022 at 1:30 pm #184023Whoa, Bader squared to bunt. Did I tune in to the wrong game?
May 1, 2022 at 1:35 pm #184024Maybe Bader is learning he has speed.
May 1, 2022 at 1:36 pm #184025O’Neill strikes out on a bouncer.
May 1, 2022 at 1:38 pm #184026Behind 1-0 after 1 on a homer by a .165 hitter.
May 1, 2022 at 1:40 pm #184027Man I hate to stay it but this game already has an ominous feel to it..
May 1, 2022 at 1:44 pm #184028Bats are gonna break loose today. Gut feeling. Maybe just gas but we shall see.
May 1, 2022 at 1:46 pm #184029Seeing Albert playing 1st brings back memories.

ParticipantWell so far it looks about the same as last night. I don’t like moving bader up, that has never worked out. Nothing I’ve seen of Dickerson tells me why we signed him when we have Gorman down in the minors. O’Neil and Carson are doing what bader was doing a couple of years ago. Not swinging or hitting early strikes and then chasing out of zone.

ParticipantI wish Jimmy ballgame was calling this one. These two guys are just talking like there isn’t a game going on. Edman walks. Two on one out, got a scoring chance.
May 1, 2022 at 2:15 pm #184032Coming into the game:
O’Neil .502 OPS
Carlson.488 OPS
DeJong .477 OPS
Dickerson .422 OPSMay 1, 2022 at 2:15 pm #1840331982 willie
ParticipantWell we catch a big break on bad throw by pitcher
May 1, 2022 at 2:17 pm #1840341982 willie
ParticipantO’Neils speed keeps us out of double play. Score another run, gives arenado a chance here
May 1, 2022 at 2:18 pm #184035We need some two out fireworks.
May 1, 2022 at 2:19 pm #1840361982 willie
ParticipantWell O’Neil gets thrown out stealing but that’s ok. I like the effort.
