Will Pujols be in the lineup tonight for this one against the lefty? If so I would assume Fried will carve him up. Then again, maybe we will see a renaissance in this one..:)

We are now 1-4 in this grueling 14 game stretch. I sure hope we win at least one in Atlanta. The announcers said we have lost 7 of the last 8 meetings against the Braves.

I think the last drop of nostalgia and feel good juice has been wrung out of the Pujols nonsense and the time has come to spend a few million on somebody who can actually hit, or pitch (or catch). Oh wait. I forgot. That would require some creative thinking and effort on the part of management, and everyone knows the bottom of the recycling barrel already has been seriously over-scraped. But consider the plight of those poor Cardinal announcers who must daily come up with some positive new jabber to justify this failed experiment with the formerly great Albert. Alas, I feel that lacking leadership a slow slide into mediocrity is our destiny.
Nonetheless, Rah Cardinals! We love ya anyway.

To have any chance at all tonight we will have to keep Atlantas runs down in the first couple innings. No surprise but can we do it? Games on ESPN here so its gonna be a big audience I suppose.
Dun-din could be spaghette. Maybe home made hamburgers and home fries.
    Go Cardinals!

As far as their analysis of Pujols, it doesn’t seem to be based on WAR, which sits at -0.4. In other words, if you blindly threw darts at a list of 4A hitters, you would likely pick up half a win over the remainder of the season.
I appreciate what Albert did for us a decade or two ago. And his greatest gift might have been going elsewhere for the great, highly paid decline

The Brewers lead the Cubs 1-0 at the 7th inning stretch at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Unless the Cubs come back we will fall to four games back in the NL Central after tonight’s thrashing at the hands of the Braves.

Cubs have tied it in the top of the 8th against the Brewers 1-1. Morel tripled, Suzuki walked, and Ortega singled against Boxberger. Hope the Cubs get more.

    Stay tuned…….

Cubs got a run in the 9th and beat Milwaukee 2-1. Thank you to the Cubs. Milwaukee has had chances to pad their lead but they havent taken advantage. We could get back to two games within the Brewers tonight.

    But, then again……

Marmol doesn’t exactly have a great alternative sitting on the bench against a lefty.

Still like watching Albert thinking (hoping really) he could bust out and have a three hit night and really pick up the entire club. Unlikely against Fried, but still.

Mikolas has come down to earth some since his great start. This will be a tough one to get, which means we might be looking at a potential four game sweep tomorrow. Yikes!

Gorman at 2B, Edman in LF, Yepez at DH. Gorman needs at bats against lefties. Albert needs to be released. pay him to hangout in the dugout. Activate for the last home series and find him an at bat there.

Or…. Send Sosa to LF and leave Edman/Gorman up the middle, Yepez to DH.

I think Edman has more experience in the OF. But I’m ok either way. And if I keep bitching maybe Albert will get another hit tonight.

Boy we just blow our scoring opportunities. Just don’t get it done. Nado double play. Get Goldy to third on passed ball. Yepez strikes out on a terrible pitch.

As I’ve said a hundred times before……Arenado is a terrible hitter in clutch situations.

Didn’t Arenado hit a game winner a couple days ago. I think that’s clutch.
