6:20 p.m.
RHP Miles Mikolas (5-6, 2.61) vs. LHP Max Fried (8-2, 2.66)
ESPN // BSM // KMOXJuly 5, 2022 at 10:41 pm #190239Will Pujols be in the lineup tonight for this one against the lefty? If so I would assume Fried will carve him up. Then again, maybe we will see a renaissance in this one..:)
We are now 1-4 in this grueling 14 game stretch. I sure hope we win at least one in Atlanta. The announcers said we have lost 7 of the last 8 meetings against the Braves.

July 6, 2022 at 5:40 am #190250I think the last drop of nostalgia and feel good juice has been wrung out of the Pujols nonsense and the time has come to spend a few million on somebody who can actually hit, or pitch (or catch). Oh wait. I forgot. That would require some creative thinking and effort on the part of management, and everyone knows the bottom of the recycling barrel already has been seriously over-scraped. But consider the plight of those poor Cardinal announcers who must daily come up with some positive new jabber to justify this failed experiment with the formerly great Albert. Alas, I feel that lacking leadership a slow slide into mediocrity is our destiny.
Nonetheless, Rah Cardinals! We love ya anyway.July 6, 2022 at 8:36 am #190260To have any chance at all tonight we will have to keep Atlantas runs down in the first couple innings. No surprise but can we do it? Games on ESPN here so its gonna be a big audience I suppose.
Dun-din could be spaghette. Maybe home made hamburgers and home fries.
Go Cardinals!July 6, 2022 at 2:29 pm #190277As far as their analysis of Pujols, it doesn’t seem to be based on WAR, which sits at -0.4. In other words, if you blindly threw darts at a list of 4A hitters, you would likely pick up half a win over the remainder of the season.
I appreciate what Albert did for us a decade or two ago. And his greatest gift might have been going elsewhere for the great, highly paid declineJuly 6, 2022 at 3:24 pm #190284The Brewers lead the Cubs 1-0 at the 7th inning stretch at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Unless the Cubs come back we will fall to four games back in the NL Central after tonight’s thrashing at the hands of the Braves.

July 6, 2022 at 3:51 pm #190285Cubs have tied it in the top of the 8th against the Brewers 1-1. Morel tripled, Suzuki walked, and Ortega singled against Boxberger. Hope the Cubs get more.
Stay tuned…….
July 6, 2022 at 3:58 pm #190286Here is the #STLCards lineup tonight against the #Braves — featuring a right-handed hitting Tommy Edman back in the leadoff spot after batting in the No. 7 slot on Tuesday: pic.twitter.com/hftgOguRmp

July 6, 2022 at 4:00 pm #190287Yes, we have to put up with Pujols tonight.
Edman 4
Carlson 8
Goldschmidt 3
Arenado 5
Yepez 7
Pujols DH
Sosa 6
Donovan 9
Knizner 2July 6, 2022 at 4:50 pm #190292Cubs got a run in the 9th and beat Milwaukee 2-1. Thank you to the Cubs. Milwaukee has had chances to pad their lead but they havent taken advantage. We could get back to two games within the Brewers tonight.
But, then again……
July 6, 2022 at 5:18 pm #190295Yes, we have to put up with Pujols tonight
Marmol doesn’t exactly have a great alternative sitting on the bench against a lefty.
July 6, 2022 at 5:47 pm #190297Still like watching Albert thinking (hoping really) he could bust out and have a three hit night and really pick up the entire club. Unlikely against Fried, but still.
Mikolas has come down to earth some since his great start. This will be a tough one to get, which means we might be looking at a potential four game sweep tomorrow. Yikes!
July 6, 2022 at 6:07 pm #190300Gorman at 2B, Edman in LF, Yepez at DH. Gorman needs at bats against lefties. Albert needs to be released. pay him to hangout in the dugout. Activate for the last home series and find him an at bat there.
July 6, 2022 at 7:06 pm #190302
jj-cf-stlParticipantOr…. Send Sosa to LF and leave Edman/Gorman up the middle, Yepez to DH.
July 6, 2022 at 7:23 pm #190303I think Edman has more experience in the OF. But I’m ok either way. And if I keep bitching maybe Albert will get another hit tonight.

Participant1 run in the last 15 innings. Yawn.
July 6, 2022 at 7:30 pm #190305
jj-cf-stlParticipantKnizner worked it full and made loud contact.
July 6, 2022 at 7:45 pm #190306Back to back dingers Ozuna and Rosario gives Atl 2 runs. Mikolas already lookin’ tired 66 pitches 5th inning. Wonder if its the heat (conditioning)?
July 6, 2022 at 7:47 pm #190307I tuned in and within 1 minute they hit two homers.
July 6, 2022 at 7:47 pm #190308Knizer hit it far as I’ ve seen him hit one.Almost to the warning track.
July 6, 2022 at 7:49 pm #190309Goldy perfect stroke drops a single over 2nd base to move Edman over to 2nd.
July 6, 2022 at 7:56 pm #190310Boy we just blow our scoring opportunities. Just don’t get it done. Nado double play. Get Goldy to third on passed ball. Yepez strikes out on a terrible pitch.
July 6, 2022 at 7:59 pm #190311As I’ve said a hundred times before……Arenado is a terrible hitter in clutch situations.
July 6, 2022 at 8:01 pm #190312Didn’t Arenado hit a game winner a couple days ago. I think that’s clutch.
July 6, 2022 at 8:02 pm #190313This is on Bling.
