And again, I ask the question, why does Schildt continually bench Sosa for DeOut? Is is so obvious at this point which one deserves to be playing!
August 26, 2021 at 11:18 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 123 thread – Thursday, August 26 at Pirates #170847I don’t usually question the manager but two things in this game make me wonder. One is every time I see Sosa I like him and hope he starts playing everyday and then Schilt benched him and puts in DeOut! Why! It just makes no sense! 2nd I was so relieved (no pun intended) when Miller pitched a clean inning! I think most managers would have said great, we got something positive out of him now let’s get him the hell outta there, but instead we put him back out there for the next inning and that starts our downfall! That was just terrible managing IMO!

July 20, 2021 at 11:02 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 95 thread – Tuesday, July 20 vs. Cubs #167183Stpcard just hit the nail on the head! This organization needs to move on from Mo and start to look for excellence again! He has screwed up so long it will take awhile but every year he stays is a year farther away from great for us!
July 7, 2021 at 9:13 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 88 thread – Wed., July 7 at Giants #165984Can’t get out of his way really! I worry about this kid! Mentally this has to be a nightmare for him every 5 days!
July 7, 2021 at 9:04 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 88 thread – Wed., July 7 at Giants #165980Watching Oviedo pitch is beyond frrustrating! How can a guy go game after game and not be able to throw strikes?
July 2, 2021 at 6:53 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 82 thread – Thursday, July 1 at Colorado #165394Who is the last Cardinal to hit 40 homers in a season? Is it Pujols? I’d say 40 homers is way better, just look how rarely it happens for us. I’m not even sure we have anyone on our roster capable of hitting 40 homers in a year! Goldschmidt and Arenado are no longer gonna do this IMO! Maybe O’Neill would be most likely! We’ll have a few with 80 singles this year and they sure ain’t gonna make us winners! I think a bit bat on the middle of our lineup that hit 40 homers would be a godsend for this team!
I would love to have a power hitting right fielder for sure, but for me it is a position by position thing! We are weak in lots of areas, but SS I think we have a better option on the team (Sosa)! He is not great. He is not gonna be a super star but maybe he lets us feel good enough about SS that we can go out and buy the power hitting right fielder you crave! Leaving Dejong out there day after day is ridiculous! I believe as soon as he leaves us he will never play mlb again!
Dejong’s big bat? What does that mean? He is hitting 170! He has declined every year since his first! He does not have a big bat! He sucks!
I’m not convinced Dejong could hit 280 off of a tee!
Dejong hitting 280 with 30 homers and a gold glove is about as likely as life on Venus or snow today in Houston, Tx! Ain’t gonna happen, none of them!
June 24, 2021 at 10:01 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 75 thread – Thursday, June 24 vs. Pirates #16473464Cards, totally agree this should it be blamed on Schildt! It is mistakes bu those above him that have caused this! He may lose his job over it but until Mo and his bunch go I’m afraid we may be stuck in mediocrity for awhile!
IMO TX Card hit the nail on the head! Our current front office has put us in this terrible position by poorly evaluating talent and taxing for players past their primes!you can call it a total rebuild or a partial one but I don’t believe this current group led by Mo can fix these problems! They will get worse until we get rid of Mo and his group! When that happens I think the hope to contend again will start for me! I am afraid it is gonna get way worse before it gets better!
June 23, 2021 at 11:17 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 74 thread – Wednesday, June 23 at Tigers #164669By July 15 neither will play on a regular basis! Gotta happen!
June 23, 2021 at 8:52 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 74 thread – Wednesday, June 23 at Tigers #164666Blingboy, if you are telling me Carpenter and Dejong are gonna play all year I will predict right now a 100 loss season! Playimg them is like having a 6 man lineup! I will bet you that neither is playing regularly by July 15! It just is suicide to continue to parade them out there. It occurred to me they were walking Molina on purpose to get to Carpenter and I don’t blame them! We are gonna have to pay them whether they play or not! They have no trade value whatsoever, so as soon as Bader comes back I would release them both and play Sosa everyday. He is not batting 215 and it a significant upgrade to Dejong! I’m not a huge Bader guy but prefer him over Carpenter any day in the week! I don’t believe you can play two guys who are hitting well below 200 all season just because they are making a lot of money!
June 23, 2021 at 7:23 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 74 thread – Wednesday, June 23 at Tigers #164660Euro Danny just hit the nail on the head! The totally inept judgement of this front office on young talent has crippled this team for now and the future! There are players all over mlb they were once cards that would make us a ton better right now! I have no hope for the future with Mo running the show! On a other note, we have no chance to turn this around as long as Carpenter and Dejong continue to play everyday! Truthfully I’d rather see Wainwright and Kim bat! We are close to the point of no return! Schildt needs to put his big boy panties on and tell Carpenter and Dejong they are done!
June 13, 2021 at 8:10 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 65 thread – Sunday, June 13 at Cubs #163911I’m done watching this team as long as Carpenter and Dejong continue to start! It is ridiculous! We have better options Sosa! I’ll look at lineup and just choose not to watch as long as they continue playing! We will not win with 2 guys in a regular lineup! Ain’t gonna happen!

I think they are about the same jbj and HB! I would prefer neither but might take Bader because of youth or might take JBJ because of playoff experience but I think they are basically at this point in their careers the same player! I would much prefer a good starting pitcher also and did not mean to indicate otherwise! I think my point was HB is what he is! Take it or leave it!June 9, 2021 at 8:36 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163561Rat, lol exactly! When I started watching baseball if you were batting 211 and someone said you were good they would look at you like you were the village idiot! Times change I guess but it (BA) still means a great deal to us over the hill gang!
June 8, 2021 at 9:57 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163494I know people on here want HB to succeed, no one more than me! But since 2018 (when he batted 264, which is great) he 111 for 526 the last 3 years 211 avg! To me that suggests that he is not likely to hit over 250 for 500 at bats again! So in a way Forcsh is right, he is. It underachieving he is doing exactly what he should do based on his last 500 at bats! So the question you are left with is, is a great fielding CF who hits around 220 gonna be good enough! For me the long term answer is no, but I also say right now he is the best option we have and in center and him being back in the lineup helps push Carpenter to the bench and that MUST happen for this team to progress!
June 7, 2021 at 8:40 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163435I totally agree blingboy. Right now he is the best option for CF! However, he must raise his average some to be a viable everyday players for the next 4 or 5 years!
June 7, 2021 at 8:16 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163433I am probably going to look stupid after this post, but oh well! I’m in my 60’s, been a Cardinal fan forever and don’t really know what these new stats like iOS and war are but I have watched a ton of baseball and know what batting average is and this is what I think about Edman and Bader! There is no comparison! Edman is way better! You don’t need stats, all you have to do is watch! Edman is a spark plug at the top of the lineup! He is one of the big reasons we went to the NLCS in 2019. Yes he had a bad 2020 but has rebounded and I love watching him play! I like Bader too but he has proven, at least to me, that he is a great fielder and below average hitter! He is never going to hit 250 over a long period of time! I’m a cardinal fan, I hope he hits 300 but I just don’t see it! On a good hitting team you could live with his 230 hitting because he does save runs in the field, but we don’t have enough hitting right now for that to work! Comparing these 2 is silly! One has proved he is an everyday player, one is still trying to do that. Anyone who think Bader is better than Edman is seeing baseball in a very different way than I view it! I’m sure you can find some stat that says Bader is better but my eyes tell me it is not true!
June 5, 2021 at 8:02 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163284I agree with BrockLou maybe as fan’s we are hoping too much? This team does not look capable of winning anything this year! Maybe we should see what the younger players in Memphis can do!if that is the case I can only hope our front office provides better players so we can contend next year! We need better starting pitching, relievers that can throw strikes and at least one and probably two hitters that can hit! Not much to ask! Lol! Don’t rush anybody back, maybe find a couple of gems in Memphis and cut salary and get some good free agents!
June 5, 2021 at 7:50 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 59 thread – Saturday, June 5 vs. Reds #163283Continuing to play Matt Carpenter is like waving the white flag before the game begins!
