Last night in the Giants/Padres game Profar collided with the SS on a short fly to LF and he went down. He was on the ground for awhile, they got him up, and he started to walk slowly back to the infield. Then he basically wobbled and collapsed again. They finally got a stretcher for him.

That was pretty scary to watch…….

It was Mo I think said the major league coaching staff is supposed to utilize the output of the analytics wonks to better prepare the players for the game, and make in-game adjustments. So, in that context, how do we explain a 19 strike out game to conclude a 4 game series where we looked lost and clueless at the plate the whole time? Is it a failure of the players to utilize correct and actionable input? Is it a failure by the coaching staff? Did MO staff the Analytics Dept with low hanging fruits? Something is going wrong, but what?

It’s not always about just us. We ran into a filthy pitcher, with a bench heavy lineup, and this single game sample says nothing overall about the clubs approach.

jj we can talk about the whole series. An approach that only works against lowly Central Division teams is useless.

The Profar thing looks like concussion. Knee to the head. No doubt Atlanta had great pitching and we really were outclassed. MLB experience does account for alot. We play half a team of rookies. They hit and have great pitching. Till we get there we will not consistently beat the big boys. Work in progress.
I’m hoping to beat the Phillies tonight in St Louis for some payback for that ZipWHOPer the last time we played them.
    Go Cardinals!

No thanks BB, you’ve already decided what you will remember. I’ve moved on from the K’s and have chosen to remember the W.

You are having a knee jerk reaction to a season high k total over 11 innings.
23 times we have K’d a handful of times (5) or less. You could have asked the same question about the low k total games.

It appears there is a slight chance of rain at Sportsman’s Park tonight for the Phillies and Redbirds game. Hopefully it will miss the downtown area and this one will get played.

Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuning in for this one. We will catch the first few innings of the Tampa Bay and Cincinnati game from Crosley Field then tune over to Dan and Al tonight. There will be some 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars on the menu for the games tonight.

    I don’t inhale kscardfan.

And at least Yepez is not in the outfield tonight. I wonder if he’ll flub any at 1stbase tonight?

Not inhaling is like chewing up your food and spitting it out. Yepez doesn’t belong in the outfield.

O’Neill has a tear in his wrist going to be out much longer

Guess he was HBP in a rehab game and the MRI revealed a tear. Just saw on MLB Network.

Oh man, the news on O’Neill is bad. Not as bad as that concussion for Profar, but our club is just not the same without Ty. Need that speed and power to help with not pitching around Gold-Anado.

I can’t find anything else on it, but it scrolled across the screen while I’m watching Matt Carpenter start in LF and hit 3rd. Who would’ve thought.

Who is the worse defender – Carpenter or Yepez? I’d say it’s just about a tie.

Here 10 miles SW of Busch more dark clouds moving in, with thunder. Getting a little gusty. No rain yet. Heading toward downtown.

Raining, game is delayed. No word on when it might start. It looks pretty bad though. Guess me and Whitey Herdog will watch the Rays/Reds and have a cigar while we wait for the rain to stop in St. Louis.

Pirates fail to score in the top of the 1st against the Brewers at County Stadium.

What’s going on with Bader? Anyone seen a recent update?

He’s probably been out getting his hair done. That seems to be his #1 priority. Being a tough, hard-nosed Cardinal baseball player is down at the bottom of his priorities.

The Doppler Radar shows a small cell in the St. Louis area but it’s about to move through. Appears to be clear sailing after that. I expect this game to start relatively soon.

Bader is a gamer from what I see of him. Aggressive player. Hurts having him and O’Neill both out. Fortunately Donovan has helped, and Yepez has been good on offense, but looks like Ozuna, or worse, when in the outer garden.

As far as inhaling Rats, you still get the second hand smoke. Not to mention the mouth smoke. It’s not like smoking cigarettes or pot, but not exactly something you want to do for health.

However, we all have our things we enjoy that are not the best for us. Life is all about balance and moderation. I enjoy a beer or two here and there. And now and then will have a soda. I have a cousin who does not do any of that – no alcohol, no soda, fat free milk, etc. I prefer to enjoy the things I like, but keep them in moderation and exercise on a regular basis.

Okay, enough of that. Was hoping to watch some baseball tonight – might have to watch another game ala the esteemed one.

It never rained here at stately Bling Manor. A high overcast. No wind. They should be able to play soon.
