Naughton has pitched 23 innings and walked 5. Tonight he pays the price for pounding the zone.

So was there a reason they pulled Hudson? They only had a single off him. Now it’s a new game.

I think Hudson’s pitch count was getting up there….. I’m guessing pretty close to 90 already before exiting, Wooster.

Cards coming right back at them as Arenado walks and Gorman singles putting Birds at the corners with nary an out……Nat pitching change:.

Hunter Harvey the new Nat reliever.

Nooty flies out to very deep left field and that’ll send Arenado safely home…..5-4 Good Guys.

    PDJ strikes out swinging.

    Knizner strikes out looking.

    Cards 5
    Nats 4

Lars doing some good things tonight. Thought Edman should try the bunt like Nooty did, especially the way he is slumping over the last month or so.

Seems like Hunter Harvey’s name should be Harvey Hunter.

Seems like Hunter Harvey’s name should be Harvey Hunter.

    Thinking of other famous HH’s…..

    Holly Hunter
    Herbert Humphrey
    Harvey Haddix
wasn’t there a famous musician Herbert Hancock…. something like that

Hairy Henderson- Herman’s Hermits and Horrible Hicks shut down the Nats on 7 pitches!

Edman pops out to 2nd base to commence the Cardinal 7th and boy is Tommy in a hitting funk. He’ll snap out of it soon …. he’s too darn good for this to carry on much longer. There’s never been a MLer who hasn’t experienced what Tommy is presently enduring…..oh and Carlson just got robbed of extra bases by the Nats center fielder.

Good ones, Wooster. I think the musician I was thinking of was Herbie Hancock.

    Helen Hunt is another.

And these darn hit batsmen will kill you too, as Hernandez just got hit in his second consecutive plate appearance, setting the stage for Juan Soto again.

Genesis (properly pronounced “Hen-a-sis”) “Cabby” Cabrera on for St. Louis to face Soto & Co.

Soto walks for the third time tonight and we’re in a pickle now with Nats occupying 1st & 2nd base and nobody out.

And Josh Bell crushes a 3 run bomb to propel Washington into a 7-5 lead ……break my heart will you.

And that is why I always change the station when Cabrera comes in! If he is good one game it guarantees that he will be terrible the next!

Good one JJ- but he didn’t hit anybody yet. Hicks did it for him to start the inning.

Ex Cubbie Carl Edwards Jr. on to pitch for Washington in the 8th in a 7-5 Nats ballgame. Let’s come right back and get these guys!

Goldy with an infield single….hope they don’t review this puppy…..and they will. Call stands. ..sweet.

Arenado flies out to straightaway center field.

Gorman rips a hotshot grounder just past the 2nd baseman Hernandez and out into right field for a base hit…..Goldy will scamper on around to 3rd and the Cards have something tasty cooking here in the 8th.

In the last 7 games we have allowed 6 or more runs 4 times. We are consistent.

    Top of 8 (continued).

Nooty …..this fellow may be just at the precipice of coming into his own…..the signs are all there. Let’s not trade him. Nooty walks and the bases are now bulging with Birds and Edwards Jr is getting yanked.

Pitching change:. Kyle Finnegan on for Washington.

PDJ on 3-1 flies out to relatively short center field, but it’s long enough for Goldy to successfully come on in with run #6 for the Cards….and the throw home enables runners to move up to 2nd and 3rd.

Donovan (Ph’ing for Knizner) flies out to the center field track.

    Nats 7
    Cards 6

Steve nailed it. On zero days rest Hen-a-sis allows a 167 ops+ for his career (108 PA’s). Soto is a career 159 ops+ for a reference point.

I guess our crack analytics team went to lunch early on that one.

    C’mon Donovan…..

    We said Herbert Hoover, right?
Short term memory loss. I wonder what causes that? Lol
