Probably because of his gaffes in the outfield last night
I do think the lack of camp played a role.
Are you saying Memphis did not have a camp and Durham did?

He hurt it celebrating Flaherty’s home run last night
Goldy in April: .214/.257/.340/.597
Goldy in May: 10/27 including 2 HR, 6 RBI, .370/.414/.630/1.044
Only May OPS higher on the team – Arenado at 1.110
For the season, he is still below DeJong in both OBP and SLG.

I’m curious as to who will be starting at 2B and SS for Memphis on Monday night. Evan Mendoza looks like the best option for 2B. But who will they put at SS?
Kramer Robertson

I know they measure pitch framing, but do they measure the game called by the catcher?
April 25, 2021 at 2:49 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 21 thread – Sunday, April 25 vs. Reds #159151Flaherty seems to have lost his command. Really wild this inning.

“little fellow”? I would expect a grandfather to behave with more decorum.
O’Neill and Bader have never been ranked anywhere near that high.
O’Neill and Bader both peaked around 90. And how high they were ranked as prospects does not matter, it’s how well they perform in the majors.
Bader – somehow injured his forearm.
This is ridiculous. You act like no players other than Bader have ever been injured before.
Bader’s defense is overrated. Can’t go back well, so he plays deep. Wasn’t even close to earning GG last season.
Bader’s defense gives him a FLOOR of a 3 WAR player. During 2019, when he had a .680 OPS, he put up 2.3 bWAR, or roughly 3.4 WAR/600
In 2018 & 2020, when he put up OPS of .756 & .779, he was worth nearly 5 bWAR/600.
Your hatred of Bader skews your opinion of his value.
As for not being able to go back to the wall, that was a comment he made to Jim Edmonds, who was an elite center fielder as well. Edmonds made his name by crashing into walls, Bader makes his by covering ground. One is not better than the other. As long as Bader can cover ground, he’s elite.
As for Gold Gloves, that is heavily influenced by other factors. Look at Outs Above Average, where they factor in positioning, distance, exit velocity of the ball, probability of a hit, etc. Bader is elite.

Yadi with 2 HR’s and a double so far today…
April 17, 2021 at 4:49 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 14 thread – Saturday, April 17 at Phillies #158414He might like the idea of swinging for the fences a little more often. At least then, we don’t have to worry about his sprint speed on the bases.
April 17, 2021 at 4:45 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 14 thread – Saturday, April 17 at Phillies #158412It looks like Yadi wants to be the cleanup hitter…
April 13, 2021 at 9:47 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 10 thread – Mon, April 12 vs. Nats #157963You cannot rely on the “big two” to carry you everyday.
Goldschmidt is not carrying the team. He has a .568 OPS, which is barely better than DeJong’s .548
Please stop the personal attacks.
Show some fortitude willie, by restraining yourself from piling on.
Okay, then how about not telling other people what to do.
All these were written by the same person. Maybe lead by example?
Dean entered the game with a .000 Batting Average and .125 OPS. He left the game with a .200 Batting Average and .773 OPS.
Small Sample Size, folks.
Carlson got a single today. His BA went up 35 points and his OPS went up 42 points.
It’s early people, relax.
@bccran – this is the third time I’ve seen this:
Of Mo’s Fab 5, we now have a youngster who is hurt, one that didn’t make the club,
So, in your opinion, baseball players never get hurt? Didn’t Fernando Tatis get hurt yesterday?
How many outfielders is a major league team supposed to carry on the 26 man roster? Which position players would you have cut so you can carry a fifth outfielder?
You wanna harp on batting averages after five games? Fine. I assume when you played baseball, you never had a slump, correct? I assume you always went 3-4 with at least one home run, correct?
Finally, we got rid of one veteran outfielder, to make room for the young outfielders. His OPS is .400.
@bccran – What’s your point?
After today, two of the top 4 hitters on the team are outfielders. Spring Training Stats
It’s bad that in a professional sport, players more deserving of a roster spot don’t get it due to non-performance related factors.
I can’t think of one time that it’s worked out for the Cardinals to keep a player in the last year of his contract when he performed miserably in spring training. But I have a rather short term memory.
Nice to see Nogowski make it. I hope they give him AB’s instead of Carpenter.
I do think the Cardinals have hurt some players by keeping them in the DSL too long.
