As the comments on the daily minor league game threads have been low – coupled with the fact all MiLB teams play six-game series each week, we are moving to a single thread for each week.

    Tuesday, June 8

Memphis vs. Gwinnett: Zack Thompson (0-3, 9.64) 7:10
Springfield vs. Arkansas: Dalton Roach (1-3, 5.32) 6:35
Peoria vs. Quad Cities: Michael YaSenka 6:35
Palm Beach at St. Lucie: Jose Moreno 5:10

Maybe Santos could be a starter, as he struck out 9 in 3 1/3 innings. He mixed pitches up, with the possibility of a starters arsenal. He has never been a starter, and at age 26, it may be a stretch, but the lack of starters in minors may fuel a need. Another negative is the need of relievers for Springfield, with Santos being one of the few standouts.

It’s funny that I was just thinking of Sisk getting moved up. He has decent to good stuff, and Springfield has few good relievers, and none are lefties.

Gorman now has a 138 wRC+ at Springfield. His power stroke hasn’t hit full stride yet and he’s running a high BABIP but it’s good to see that his K rate has dropped to 21.7% as well. At his age, that’s a very good sign. The farm system is funny right now in that a lot of the high end position guys are performing pretty well, but there are so many others below them having putrid years for a system that looks pretty bad. Still, I was reading on VEB not long ago that the Cards have a very young group at most every level so maybe there’s hope.

Thompson seems to start strong and can’t finish. He pitched 3 scoreless innings winning 4-0, now after a 3 run bomb, it is now 5-4. It is very tough to have the jump to AAA like he has done, so patience is required. I hope is more than a reliever.

Gorman is on track to be player of the week/month. I like his approach, as he is willing to go the other way. I think his hit tool grade should be upgraded.

Burleson homers!! It sure looks possible that we see him and Gorman is St Louis in 2022. And Delvin Perez has looked better since his return to the lineup.

Went last week and they reminded me of the big boys. Couldn’t hit squat. Gorman played second and hit the ball hard, Made a really good play and had a really bad play.

The larger rosters seem to hurt info on injured players. The only thing you can do as a fan is pay attention to absences.

Palm Beach races off to a quick lead vs the Port St. Lucie Ricardo’s this evening. They play in the top of the 2nd with our young Birds leading 9-0 after a blistering 9 run 1st. Masyn Winn the big blow, a towering granny that still has the Florida faithful gasping for air. Let’s hit them with at least 20 tonight.

A “Lott” of fun still to be had in Palm Beach’s game vs that upstart Port St. Lucie squad, as the Cardinals maintain a nice 14-7 advantage in the bottom of the 7th. Masyn Winn, Matt Kopperniak and Matthew Lott have all circled the bases at their leisure. Stay tuned.

14-8 Palm Beach your happy final. Manzo picks up the win in relief and 20 year old Edgar Eduardo Manzo is in serious need of a class jump. This kid throws some nasty stuff and he’s quite simply a man amongst boys at his present level of competition. Let’s challenge this kid!
