With all the walks by our pitchers I am just wondering how safe Mike Maddux’s job is?

I remember seeing Gomber pitching in Peoria where he was a man amongst boys. Kind of a fizzle in MLB.

The Doppler radar doesnt show any green stuff in or around the St. Louis area so this one should be good to go tonight. Might be a difficult task as I assume Gomber will be fired up and ready for this one.

I may or may not catch it as I might be down at Jasper for the Indiana Hall of Fame Classic. The Jasper Wildcats host the Edgewood Mustangs in the first game at Ruxer Field beginning at 5:30.

And din-din today was a small ribeye steak in the air fryer along with some jumbo crinkle-cut french fries and a piece of cherry pie and an ice cream sandwich for dessert. Pepsi was the drink of choice for this one today.

Need to get back on winning ways. Hopefully we can get some big hits at needed times. Basically that’s what has been missing the last couple of games.

The Pirates almost pulled off a 9th inning rally at Wrigley. They trailed the Cubs 3-0 going into the 9th and scored two runs and had the bases loaded with two outs but Reynolds flied to right to end it. 3-2 Cubs the final.

I sure hope Fletcher is on his game tonight and doesnt walk 4-5 hitters.

Weather should be good to go tonight. Can see the arch from the hill down my street, mostly clear to the west. Tomorrow and Sunday are more problematic, heavy rain coming. I hope Gomber gets a warm reception from our bats as a welcome back.

I was thinking that the Rockies 3B looked an awful lot like our Arenado. Then Danny mentioned that he’s Nolan’s cousin. Interesting stuff.

Arenado with the ground rule double off Gomber. We obviously won that trade.

If Bader keeps this up, Shildt is going to have to bench him for two weeks

You may not agree, but I am a bit concerned about Bader muscling up and hitting all of these homers. Of his six hits, three have left the park. I’d rather see him focus on improving his .296 on-base percentage with gappers and walks.

Small ball helps the Cards widen their lead to 5-0 after five innings.

Nice work for Jack tonight…7 shutout innings and leaves with the 5-0 lead.

Arenado with the great play to help Helsley out of the 8th. Remains 5-0.

Brian, I think bader is just fine. He isn’t trying to pull everything. Ive seen him intentionally hitting the ball to the right side to move runners over and to help him not pull off the sliders. Hasn’t struck out bear as often. I haven’t seen him strike out since he’s been back though I’m sure he has, just not when I’ve been watching. Last year I’m not sure he went more than three at bats without a strike out. He’s changed his hitting approach as well. He’s been a little unlucky far as some balls not finding a hole and he’s nailed a few that were there to be hit. I think he’s done great.

Nice win for the Cards. Only one walk in the game by the staff; we could use more of those games.
