Be advised Albert Pujols homered again today (Sunday). And had another one taken away on Friday night when the Giant’s LF reached over the wall and pulled it back in. Perhaps he might be getting hot? I wonder if he will be in the starting lineup against us? I see Bellinger was back in the lineup on Sunday, playing in centerfield.

Cubs have the Padres at Wrigley for three. I will gladly take one of these three at Dodger Stadium and be happy. And the Reds announcers said Joey Votto is about 7-10 days away so chances are we miss him next week at home.

Oh, and one of the reasons I will be happy with one win in this Dodger series is simply this – we were very fortunate to have won three games in Arizona. In two of those games the DBacks were just one hit away. We didnt exactly dominate them.

Today is also the day we can no longer offer up the excuse “It’s early yet.” What we’ve got is by-and-large what we’ve got, barring roster moves or the occasional hot streak.

    Rah Cardinals!

So, Goldschmidt is on pace for about 15-20 dingers and a .250 average. Unless he get’s hot those arent the type of numbers we expected. And if this holds true I dont think there’s any other choice except to proclaim him somewhat of a disappointment in his time in St. Louis.

However, and the Cards announcers were talking about this, Bob Brenly always said there’s a two week stretch during the season where Goldy gets hot and carries a team. If he does find that two week stretch maybe we can get a .275/25/90 season out of him. Or maybe a little better.

    Guess time will tell.

Rat, .275/25/90 is exactly what I expect from Goldy. I admit that his numbers have been more lackluster so far that you want from a $25M player but I think there is something to the theory of him going on a two week hot binge to get his numbers up. Too bad he couldn’t spread it out a little more instead of being hot/cold but most of our players seem to be that way.

The Cubs down the Padres with their B squad today at Wrigley. 7-2 the unhappy final. Our old friend Patrick W. Tooth slugged two dingers for them. There’s a guy playing RF for them that I’ve never heard of. And some guy made a start for them today that I’ve never heard of either. And they pound the mighty Padres into the ground almost. Also, after these next two with the Padres the Cubs go to San Francisco for a four game series. Then next week they go to San Diego for a three game series. Starting today their next ten games are against the Padres (6) and the Giants (4).

So, once again, first place is on the line tonight at Dodger Stadium. Cards win they maintain first place. They lose they drop 1/2 game behind the Cubs.

Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch and tuning in. A couple of Palma Real cigars will be enjoyed during this one as well.

Rat, .275/25/90 is exactly what I expect from Goldy.

So, you expected him to have an OPS lower than TON, Yadi, Sosa, Edman and Bader?

I certainly did not. Not this early in his contract.

Goldy brings a multitude of things to this team – offense, superb defense, smart base running, leadership, mentorship, maturity, etc. You guys are only looking at offense stats to just his worth. Big mistake.

Well the comeback was fun for a minute. Until it turned back into a blowout

This is why we gotta play the guys against Arizona and get the sweep. We aren’t cut out to beat these top teams with the pen

Bottom of the 6th has been an ugly inning of pitching. Pen getting worked over. Cabrera not doing much right. Thankfully Lux gave him an out.

WHY CANT OUR RELIEVERS THROW STRIKES?????

WHY CANT THEY THROW THE BALL OVER THE PLATE?????

WHY DO THEY WALK SOOOOO MANY HITTERS?????

6-3 Dodgers last of the 6th.

The Cardinals are hard to watch a great deal of the time. I just dont understand why they cant throw the ball over the plate………

6th inning woes continue. Cabrera is gonna kill Yadi. He’s crossed him up twice now.

Well deserved accolades to the batter, but also the pitcher, in this case Cabby, is warranted praise in Chris Taylors 14 pitch at bat. To foul off 8 pitches in an at bat vs ML pitching, especially from the ilk of a Cabby, takes a certain degree of luck. Even though Cabby gave up the base clearing double on pitch #14, you still have to be enthused with the way Cabby hung in there.
