Amidst all the bad news, one good sign emerges.
Thank you Tyler for your work as a Cardinal from a former Gamecock, and best of luck moving forward. It seemed like it was time for a split though.
The question – will Miller be much better? Hopefully he regains some of the velocity he’s seen fade this year after IL trip. Obviously we wont see 2018 Miller, but getting 2020 Miller (or even something between 2019 and 2020 Miller) back would be huge for this pen

There must be an explanation for Webb’s decline in effectiveness. Any kind of guess anybody takes turns into a ‘reason’, so it’s better to just let it rest. But now would be a good time for an investigative reporter to find out what happened, and pass it along.

That said, I can’t wait to see him post a 2.50 ERA the rest of the way for some other team. Seems like the Cards’ luck.
Webb was OK last year, I would not be too surprised if somebody else’s pitching coaches could straighten him out. Anybody else’s in fact. And I do not have high hopes for a Miller resurgence unfortunately.
Dude was just the worst and I saw behind that ok 2020. Dude couldn’t pitch under any pressure most of his tenure. He folded more often with small leads and when it was garbage time he would just toss it up and wish for the best.
This guy is in my top 5 of all time most hated Cardinals. He might have been #1 for most of his tenure.
Webb had such a bad year that he raised the entire team ERA by 0.31 points. That’s enough to push the team from 11th to 16th in MLB in ERA over a span of 16-1/3 innings. Ouch.
858booyah, you are spot on with the Webb assertion. I used to tell the wife “Do not put him in a close game! Save him for mop up!” And time and time he would fold like origami. I thought he had finally got past it last year, but man I wish we had snatched up Tony Watson when he didn’t make the phillies.

No doubt. He will probably go to Texas and finish top 5 in cy young votes as Adolis Garcia finishes top 5 in MVP votes.
Webb was a bit of a surprise when we first got him, but was awful this year. The guy that amazes me that we had for a brief spell is Rich Hill. He has been really good. We hardly gave him a look though. A bit of a bonus had we kept him is he is a former Cub, so we would have that to hold over them.
But alas that is water well under the bridge.
Tyler Webb is like Brett Cecil. You can’t bring him into high leverage situations. And this year, you can’t bring him into any situtations.
Well webb is back in the organization. Nobody else wanted him to no surprise. And like clockwork, the Cardinals picked him right back up. The new guy we picked up I have no problem with. At least he’s someone new. If he sucks we get rid of him. This thing about having to have left handers is a just bullcrap though. I’d rather get the best pitcher available not just the one who throws left perse. That’s just me though.

Totally agree, and the numbers bear this out. The advanced stat guys will tell you that the match-up advantage is not that great, and the numbers show you will gain greater advantage with a better pitcher, regardless of throwing side, than you will by employing a lesser pitcher and trying to use him primarily in a L-on-L role.
