Wow, disappointing end to Dylan’s Cardinal career after a promising start. Wish him all the best.
Player the front office got back not out of line with Dylan’s performance. Really do not expect much. Hope I am wrong.
July 30, 2024 at 6:51 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #262206Yesterday I picked up that salary was a constraint the Cardinals were working around. Sounded as if they needed to remain salary neutral as they improve the roster. The deal to pick up Pham and Fedde worked as it fit into their budget after moving Edman, DFAing Gallegos and possibly getting cash as part of the deal.
Kinda wondering what that means moving into next season. How constrained will the Front Office be? How creative can they get to improve the roster while unloading unwanted salaries?
😳
Agree ZTR … looks to be the way things are trending.
Good to get the win! However, the back of the bull pen has been a bit shaky lately.
May 22, 2024 at 9:26 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #50 thread – Wednesday, May 22 vs. Orioles #253284Got to listen to the end of the game today. Good to see the Redbirds hang on and sweep the O’s. Good to see the team go on a run here. Hoping they continue this play against the Cubs.
Maybe this is the start of something big!
You can try to trade Arenado and Goldy, but I am not sure you will get much in return. Goldy is in the final year of his contract and appears to be overmatched. Arenado’s glove has looked good, he is getting on base, but his power performance has dropped off (granted I believe HRs in MLB are lower to this point when compared to last year). However, he is 33 and owed $64M over the next three seasons.

Nice win! That is three wins in the last four games. Keep it rolling boys!
April 23, 2024 at 8:21 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #23 thread – Monday, April 22 vs. D-backs #249211Great win! Comeback victory and big hits from the two guys the team needed to get going! Let’s get the offense rolling boys and build a winning streak!
Kirby Deal – Cannot see the Mariners dealing Kirby at this point. I would have expected the Cardinals to have inquired about Kirby over the past offseason. A deal would have been made then if the Cards had what the Mariners were looking for.
April 22, 2024 at 3:35 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #22 thread – Sunday, April 21 vs. Brewers #249035Agree with Gscottr. The lack of offense is killing this team. It is amazing they have won as many as they have while scoring so little. Team pitching and defense are much better than last season.
RBK – one can argue the Cards minor league system has produced some quality players. They are just in different uni’s (Gallen, Alcantara, Arozarena, Garcia).
You just had to throw that zinger in there! Ugh!
Agreed LACardFan! I doubt anyone is knocking at the door asking for Mikolas. If there is someone, they will not be offering much in return at this point.
April 19, 2024 at 3:54 pm in reply to: FOX selling regional sports networks to Disney to Sinclair to MLB??? #248658Not a stunner to me! I am not surprised at all that ratings were the lowest in two decades …
– Fans disappointed with last season’s performance and underwhelmed with offseason moves
– Televison Broadcast access issues not resolvedWould love to know what options Cardinal management has available or are considering to address this situation. It is hard to believe we have done from being able to view Cardinal games on television almost every night for a reasonable price versus what we face today.
I have to wonder how MLB is going to attract and retain younger fans when many do not have access to even view the games. Ugh!
April 18, 2024 at 1:53 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #19 thread – at A’s, Wednesday, April 17 #248540Agree 1TD! There are only two NL teams that have scored fewer runs than the Cardinals (Marlins, Nats). The Redbirds have a number of key players under-performing. The early returns on the re-vamped pitching staff have been positive.
I am not in favor of public funding for stadium improvements. Additionally, the issue is clouded by the lack of transparency with the team’s financial statements. It is hard for me to say if ownership really “needs” the money or “would like the money”.
April 13, 2024 at 12:20 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #14 thread – at D’backs, Friday, April 12 #247784Nice to get a win in Arizona! The bats got going and the pen closed the door. Keep it rolling Redbirds!
April 10, 2024 at 2:57 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #12 thread – vs. Phillies, Tuesday, April 9 #247407Nice to see Gray on the mound and pitch well! Defense looking much better so far. Big bats still quiet. Did I hear Rooney correctly, Arenado has not hit a regular season home run since last August?
April 7, 2024 at 6:45 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #10 thread –vs. Marlins, Sunday, April 7 #247045Rough day today. The positive is that the team has won two series in a row. Hoping for a third series victory next.
April 6, 2024 at 3:52 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #9 thread – vs. Marlins, Saturday, April 6 #246843Good win! Cards got good pitching, good defense and just enough offense today. Like to see the bats warm up.
April 2, 2024 at 5:13 am in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #5 thread – at Padres, Monday, April 1 #246098All around a solid performance. Gibson looked good. Bull pen did their job. Donovan had a great game.

March 28, 2024 at 3:57 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #1 thread – at Dodgers, Thursday, March 28 #245261Wow, over-matched to start. Not the way you want to start.
Definitely not what MLB wanted. Manfred needs to get moving on an investigation ASAP. The speculation will get worse the longer this issue lingers without answers. My guess is the Feds may already have a good idea what has occurred. However, they will be reluctant to release information until charges are filed and cases closed against all thought to have acted illegally.
